  • When and how often will VA reevaluate your disability rating? Tune in to learn what might prompt a reevaluation, how often VA reevaluates disability ratings, and what to do if VA proposes to reduce your rating.
The purpose of reevaluation is to verify either the continued existence and/or the current severity of a service-connected condition. VA will also require reevaluation in cases where it is likely that a veteran’s disability has improved. Often, VA will schedule a C&P reexamination to determine the current severity of your disability.

For supplemental claims, how long does it normally take for decision? I’ve heard 4-5 mos? Is that after the C&P exam?

Hello. I’m curious about TKA revisions, and if they’re rated. I had a LTKA in 7/2021, and a revision on 1/5/2023. The Surgeon found not only a lot of scar tissue, but also Polyethylene wear. Is this something that I should request an increase for?

If you are 100% T&P, you more than likely exempt from any further reevaluations.

I am 70% scheduler and 100% T&P IU as of 2011. I was also scheduled for a future examination in 2030, exactly 1 year before it hits 20. Is this something I should worry about? How can I prepare?

Request for your C File, that will show you your rating code sheet. Look into that, if your disability is rated as “Static” then it shouldn’t be reevaluated. Also it will have a box for future exams. If it says “NONE.” then no future exams is required.

Hi Tom Tom, thanks for your advice. I have both those things in my c file. And this is the very first time i was ever rated.

2:02 What if I'm being re-evaluated every year for 5 years and continue to have the same 100% rating, would that be considered the first level of protection?

    Hello,
I had my c&p exam in May. When would be the next time they would request for another exam? Would it be in another 2-3 years or sooner? They kept me at 70% and there were no changes. This was my second examination that was between the 2-5 year timeframe of when I was first given my benefits when I was discharged.

I'm also around that rating but they haven't requested an evaluation for me and it's been slightly longer than 5 yrs

Hello, How can I find out if my disability rating is considered re-examinable or not? Thank you in advance

    • @CCK_Law

Thank you for reaching out! Generally speaking, VA usually re-evaluates veterans’ service-connected conditions on two occasions:
Six months after leaving military service; and
Between two and five years from the date of the decision to grant VA disability benefits.

@@CCK_Law is that date your EFFECTIVE Date? Example: I was denied in 2016 for sleep apnea. Appealed the decision and won in 2019. The effective date was "2016". So.... which date do they use for reevaluation? 2016 and 2019??
