Johnny became the first non-African American to be inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1988.

Trust me, Johnny doesn't need anyone to carry him. He is just giving little brother Edgar the spotlight on this. They are each amazing artists in their own right. Because they are albino and couldn't go outside during the day, they spent a lot of time practicing their music, and it shows. I saw Johnny in the mid 70s and he is mindblowing. Check out the live version of Edgar's Frankenstein. He freakin' kills it on keys, sax AND drums

Facts to know: Edgar called himself, "WHITE TRASH". There is a live album titled WHITE TRASH. The drummer and bass player became Double Trouble when playing with Steve Ray Vaughn

Johnny Winter was one of the best EVER blues guitar slingers to have ever lived. It's a shame you never heard of these guys. You really need to go back and listen. Edgar is still crankin in his late 70's & Johnny last album was a killer.

This was Johnny’s concert, but as others have pointed out here, he showcased his younger brother’s talent. “Be Careful with a Fool” from this same show is incredible. Check it out.

Brother, Johnny shone so brightly on his own that he had to step back to let his brother into the spotlight.
Edgar was so dedicated to helping his brother when he needed it that he even played the drums and Edgar was no drummer.
He would have to wrap his hands in rags to hold on to the drumsticks from the blood caused by the drumming.
Johnny said that Edgar could keep a tempo and he was loud, that was all he needed lol.

I saw Johnny at the Bottom Line in NYC. He played about 2 hours then said he hadn't had a chance to play with his brother in a while and then Edgar came out and they played another two hours.

I got to see Johnny three times , the last time was two weeks before he passed away , yes , he walked on the stage by himself , his fingers still moved , he still jammed , fantastic show ! I would suggest Johnny Winter , live at Rockpalast , doing , The medley , it's a combination of different blues songs . Then you can hear Johnny play !

Johnny was the first non-African-American to be inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. The bassist here, Tommy Shannon, went on to play with Stevie Ray Vaughn in the 80s and 90s. This is a cover of a Nashville Teens song from 1959 - if I'm wrong there someone please correct me. Eric Burdon (Lead singer of the Animals) did a very different but pretty decent cover of this as well. The subtitles here have an error, the line is "I despise you because you're filthy". If you listen you can hear that that's what Edgar is singing.

I don’t think I could pick a favorite song out of all the songs I know and say this one is the best. But, if you narrow that category just a little and asked me what my favorite live performance is of a song, it would be this one. I had heard the song vaguely in the past sometime by somebody else, and I liked it, but I forgot it soon after. So, when I heard this, I was just blown away! Nobody, nobody, could top this (in my opinion, of course). ❤
P.S. It’s my understanding this was Edgar’s show and Johnny just came to support his brother, so if you’re seeing Edgar as the star here that may be why. I bet if you went to a Johnny show without Edgar you’d be pretty impressed. Just my 2¢.😊 P.P. S. Now I’ve read other comments & it seems I got it backwards: this was Johnny’s show & Edgar made a show-stopping appearance. Anyway, you really couldn’t find two more talented musicians.

Great reaction! They always surprise first timers. People will recommend you see Edgar's band do Frankenstein live at czcams.com/video/P8f-Qb-bwlU/video.html, and with good reason. But I always point people to his song Dying to Live first. Nice video montage at czcams.com/video/opGVGKw_lDU/video.html. It's the most beautiful song you've never heard. Enjoy your inevitable deep dive into these brothers; they're both brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Johnny is in the Blues Hall of Fame and this year, 53 years after the performance you just reacted to, Edgar won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album with "Brother Johnny," a tribute to his brother who died in 2014.

Now you need to check out the Irish blues rock legend, Rory Gallagher. His fans include Slash, the Edge, Johnny Marr, Vivian Campbell (Def Leopard), Brian May and many other guitar greats. Rory is knows as the "greatest guitarist you've never heard of", especially here in the States, because he shunned the celebrity spotlight. He never released a single during his career. He preferred playing in smaller. more intimate venues. Rory lived to play music and the fame and fortune were never something he sought during his life. Try checking out "In Your Town" live in Paris 1974 for a sample of his raw energy and talent. You will be blown away!

First time watching and channel and a great reaction! You paid attention, didn't act like a mannequin, and seemed genuine. I agree with you about Edgar carrying. I've watched at least a dozen reactions to this performance and usually fast forward the guitar solo. If any of you out there no of any comparable performances by Johnny, please send me that way. And I've already seen Frankenstein which doesn't even contain vocals. Intend to check out more of your content.

You HAVE TO check out “Be Careful With A Fool” and “Fast Life Rider” both performances are from this same show in 1970. Edgar did steal the show on this one though. But JOHNNY is one of the GOATs for sure. I promise you will NOT be disappointed! That’s a hell of a rabbit hole to go down… Happy digging!
