  • With yet again another rain delay, It is time to move some of the grain I am getting worried about out of some of our smaller field bins. Some of these are going to be a real challenge getting the grain out of them and we have to get creative to get it done! We also dive into what it takes to store grain into the summer months thanks to GSI!

Yep, nothing better than the sour mash smell at the distillery. It’s bad news in the grain bin.

Enjoy the videos. I think you should consider wearing fall protection when climbing your bins. Accidents happen at home, at work be it a farm or a factory. If you guys wear it you never know which others decide to follow just because you guys do. Maybe it’s my age but I don’t take chances anymore. Keep putting out the videos, I have really learned a lot.

Interesting on the reheating grain info, but we've never reheated grain going into summer, and don't have any trouble, currently emptying a 54' 85,000 bushel bin, corn frosts up the outside of auger tube like a popsicle;)

Just a suggestion here, if grain is going to be stored for a period of time in order to be sold at a later date for future market prices, a grain bin situated with a stirator will help with not only hot spots but also with overall consistency.

Every farmer ive ever seen. Whether grains or unloading wagons into a silage blower. Refuses to put down a cheap blue plastic tarp to clean up the mess. Why is it that complicated to do some thing so simple.

I vacuum up this grain at the end and within a week the wildlife clean up the rest.
