Well done. I've been trying to decide if this lens will work for me, and your night shots demonstrate exactly what I imagined. Great bokeh, AF tracking etc. I appreciate the demo and thoughts, thanks!
Thanks I appreciate it, glad I could help!
I own the lens. Bought together with Sony a6400. Pictures are really sharp. So much details when trying to edit in lightroom
Yes I agree! Glad you enjoy it! I appreciate you checking out my channel!
could you tell me please about the Low-Light Performance ? I use an iphone 15 and it is very bad....will i have a strong upgrade with this lems and a sony alpha 6700 ?
@@user-kf5yl2ek2c iphone 15 and sony a6700 is big difference. You can’t compare both of them. But for lens try to buy with lower aperture below 1.4 , so you can utilise sony a6700 performance
I have this lens. My favorite of what I have, for sure. I also have the 16-50 kit lens and the 55-210, which I also love, meaning both, and I know people hate those two lenses, but they are both giving me plenty of good content. I think they're both underrated. That kit lens is cool for me, too, because I use the Crane M2 gimbal, and both the 16-50 and my 35mm work great on it. I have been struggling, because I want to upgrade, sell my 16-50 and 55-210, and go with either a great zoom lens, like the Tamron 17-70 f2.8, or maybe go a bit less and get the Sony 18-105 f4, or maybe get 2 more higher quality primes to go with my 35mm, like a Sony 50mm f1.8, which is really inexpensive, and I was thinking of that Sigma 16mm, but... the Sony 10-18 has always had me interested as well, and all of those lenses would work with my gimbal, and so.......... damn... first world problems. Get a great zoom, but have to buy a new gimbal, or more primes, which will have me still switching lenses, but saving me some $$$ since I could keep my gimbal..... oh well....... great review, I subscribed...
Thanks for watching and subscribing! Yeah zoom lenses are definitely much more convenient but there are a lot of great primes. Just depends on what you prefer I guess. Hard to go wrong either way. Just depends on what holes you really want to fill in your lens line up
@@HeartbeatsPhotography I think it's a matter of preference. How do you like to work. It's not really all that difficult to unscrew a lens and screw another one on. I think for making movies or docs, primes are fine since you are planning things out most of the time, but I'm assuming for weddings, street shooters, events, sports, stuff like that, zooms are probably incredibly awesome and convenient, for sure. I'm just used to switching lenses, and I like that I know the personality of each lens, but... I'll probably suck it up and grab a zoom upgrade to my kit lens at some point soon. Expensive passion, making art with cameras. lol
@@RockWILK Yes Definitely expensive haha
Have you tried the new Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 ?
@@harripods I haven't. I had the Tamron 17-70 but sold it. Didn't really like it all that much. I mainly use a Panasonic S5 now, but if I was still using the a6400 as my main camera, that would probably be the lens living on it all the time. Meaning the Sigma 18-50.
Looking forward to the comparison with the Sigma 30mm!
Oss is a must for video on sony handheld. I have sigma24-70 no stabilization on lens. Fantastic pictures.! But video would be best on a gimbal with oss
I agree 100%. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
thank you so much for this clear explanation
Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Looks perfect, I am thinking of buying it for my ASMR videos. How far do you need to be standing to still appear like you are touching the lens?
Well I just watched 1 of your videos to get an idea for what you're saying and I honestly don't think this Lens is wide enough for what you're talking about. Maybe for some other videos but not for up close talking to the camera. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it
@@HeartbeatsPhotography Thank you for your advice, I was kind of affraid of that :)
I'm really confused as which one to buy between Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS and Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary. I'm a beginner and I'm buying the Sony A6400. As I'm looking to get into photography and videography, I'm looking for a 1st lens and according to Google and multiple articles 50mm (for Full frame) was recommended. So I'm looking for either of these 2 to buy. Sigma has a wider aperture so it's gonna be beneficial at night taking photos as it'll let in more light but then again, Sony has the stabilization and also smaller in size. But from I've heard, Sony has color aberration and Sigma with the lack of stabilization and inferior AF. So it'b be great if anyone could help me out with it. Recommendation will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I would go with the Sony 35 F1.8 because I think it's Slightly more versatile because of the OSS since your camera doesn't have stabilization this will be helpful. Thanks for checking out my Channel!
Im hesitating between this lens and the sigma 30 for my a6600 ( I’ve found the Sony cheaper than the sigma ) is the sigma really sharper for you ?
Yeah the Sigma is a tad sharper but I like the size and OSS with the Sony. The Sony is still very sharp
I am stuck between Sony 35mm and 50mm.. I love the Bokeh effect of 50mm. I love how versatile 35mm is.
I own both and plan on making a video on the 50 eventually but I prefer the 35 because I can find more times to use it than the 50. Just depends on how you plan on using it
Great video. Thanks. Would you recommend this for street photography? I need something compact with decent sharpness from F2 to F8. Also the AF needs to be great to make full use of the a6400 AF capability.
I am currently using the Sigma 30 f2.8, which is a gem of a lens but has a few AF issues. It hunts madly in AF-C. The Sigma 30 f1.4, which I also have, is too bulky for street.
Would really appreciate your input. Thanks again
Well this is compact and better auto focus than both of those so it should be good for that but really depends on what you prefer. But it could work
Just subscribed great video. Thanks. Just getting started using the lenses I have, which this is one. Also looking to pick up either tamron 17-70 or sigma 18-50
Nice! Thanks for watching & subscribing! I haven't used either of those lenses but from what I've heard and seen the Sigma 18-50 seems really nice.
Hello :) are you filming this video with this lens (sony
35mm 1.8) or an other one?
Cuz I need a lens to make selftape a (actor ) and I don’t know if it’s better this one or the signs 30mm 1.4.
I like this one but I’m not sure if I have enough space in the frame. I need to stay close to the camera cuz I have the mic.. so usually I’m staying 2 meters far maybe even closer.
I honestly can't remember which lens I used to film this because it was a little while ago but for studio use and shots from a tripod I would probably recommend the Sigma
@@HeartbeatsPhotography thank you so much 🙏🏼
Very informative, whens the next video coming?
Probably 2 weeks
serious question I finally put settings to 24frames and 1/50 shutter like you BUT there’s 2 different options for 24frames?? 24p 60M(super 35mm) OR 24p 100M(super 35mm)??? I’m so new to making videos helppp, and I put my aperture at f1.8 but that was too bright/exposed so I changed the aperture to f2.8 what do you set your aperture at? Plsss reply 😊 I’m a new subscriber, I have Sony a6400 and this 35mm oss e mount Sony lens
I would use the 24p 100m because it gathers more information per second (it typically looks better). Yes you will need to change the aperture depending on how bright your environment is. the smaller the aperture number than the more shallow depth of field (blurry background) but unless you have an ND Filter you will need to use a larger aperture number in bright conditions so your video is not too bright. check out my recent video on VND Filters.
@@HeartbeatsPhotography thank you so much I will check out the video! I am so glad you mentioned the filter I actually have a ND filter that will help :) you’re the best!
Is FE 35mm 1.8 or this one would be better to use with A6400 on Ronin SC2?
Well the 35 is smaller and lighter so it would be better on the Ronin sc
@@HeartbeatsPhotography do you mean E 35?
@@mordavian yeah haha, I've never used the FE 35 so I'm not sure but I doubt it would be better for the Ronin SC than the E 35
🥰🥰🥰
Saw $293 used today on Amazon
Seems like a good deal. Thanks for watching!
Boring!
well thanks for watching anyway
Im hesitating for my a6600
The 35mm 1.8 + 18-105
Or
Sigma 16 + 56
Need advice 🥲
Honestly that's a tough choice. I haven't used those Sigma lenses YET but I do own the Sigma 30mm and I like it. But I like the Sony 35mm a little more
Any combination of those lenses would be good. I guess it depends on what you do. The Sigma 56 is a Portrait King from what I've heard and I really want to get one. If you mostly do video than you could do Sigma 16 + Sony 35 since the Sony has OSS and you wouldn't have to carry around any big Lenses
@@HeartbeatsPhotography what about protrait king sigma 56 for photography and sony 35 oss for cinematic?
