With Olly Alexander representing the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, the expectations for a potential UK victory are higher than ever before.
For those who are unfamiliar with him, Alexander is better known for his project Years & Years with whom he's already managed to top the UK charts. He also has duets with Kylie Minogue, Tove Lo, and even Elton John in his catalogue.

About the UK not having a huge Eurovision fandom…we actually have the largest viewing figures of any country. Last year it was like 11million people. That’s like 1 in 6 brits watching it

U.K. radio friendly? Have you actually listened to European radio? Plus Olly already has a fan base in Europe from his Years and Years days. I get the feeling that you forget that older viewers do still vote! I absolutely love this song, it’s the only one I’m playing on repeat and I’m getting pretty sick of everything needing to be ‘big’ these days. Too many big songs makes nothing big in the end. Olly is an established performer and really quite mesmerising and I can’t wait to see this live. Sam Ryder really shook up his live performance so anything is possible. Of course Brits will never get behind their act, nothing will ever be good enough it seems.

Honestly it’s a pleasant song to listen to. I think people are too used to having big sounds towards the end when you don’t need it for every song in existence. Also sounds like It’s a Sin way too much XD
To me this music video is both a reminiscent and a love letter to the Y2K feel of the 90's - mid 2000's.
Hm… yeah… this is definitely year for witchy women and feminine boys… I think this is the most polished and radio friendly of the latter group, but Lithuania, Belgium and Switzerland are all more interesting. It’s a crowded field… guess it depends on what the audience go for!

As a Brit, it's okay, but there's no real melody in the chorus that stands out. The verses are MUCH better. This will be down to the live performance, vocals and staging. Mid table or bottom for me. Croatia have got it for me. There's no going back.

The chorus is a bit repetitive

I think Olly needs to revamp. 1. Cut how often the Chorus is sung and beef up the verses because they're very meaningful. 2. The tempo and dynamics of the song should progressively get more heavy and more "dizzy". It needs to start off more mellow and then build. The ending of the song after the spoken word just needs to be completely redone. It's so predictable and bland going back into the chorus.
