I’m trying to read bigger books this year. In the genre of classics I want to read The Count Of Monte Cristo. Good luck!
Possibly my favourite.
Read twice in English and now, halfway, in French!
There Eyes Were Watching God is AMAZING! I have Forever Amber finally on my TBR and I'm determined to get it done this year! I hope you reach your goal of reading these this year! Have a good one :)
Hello Helene, I just love your reviews. First, you transmit the essence of the books and how you also feel about it with no spoilers. And I also love the tranquility in them. Saludos from Mexico. And saludos to Zeuz too.
Beautiful covers! I hope you enjoy them😊
I have only read the Hurston book, but it is a fantastic book! I hope you enjoy all three! I’ll be anxious to see how Amber is for you, since it is such a long book. I hope it’s really good! Happy Reading!
I love this little update ❤️
A great list. I read "Amber" many years ago and loved it. Our book club just decided to read
"Their Eyes Were Watching God" within the next few months as people seem to love it. As for your third book - I'm going to check that one out in the coming months too.
Happy reading.
The books Their eyes were watching God is such a great book and easy to read. My mind was traveling through the pages. It’s a smooth and inspirational book, the author is highly talented. Hope you will like it. And nice cover of the book!
I miss you 😘 lots , I love larger books as well
“Forever Amber” is one of my all time favorite books. I really hope you enjoy it!
Great choice in books Helene. Think I might try to read them too as I’ve been interested in them all too.
Hi, Helene. I loved your new video and your hairstyle! I've always wanted to read classics in English but since it's my second language it's just so difficult. There are so many English words I don't know in one classic book and I can't follow the story...so it's really amazing that you can read books in your second language. The one you recommended, Memento Mori sounds so interesting you make me want to read it. I might learn new words and try it out! Hope you get through all of them in 2019 and happy reading! Karin.
all of them sound amazing! good luck ^^
I like the shorter hair 🌻
These book sound interesting! Hope you get through all of them in 2019!
These all sound great! I never heard of Memento Mori but definitely want to pick that up!
I loved Forever Amber. I hope you enjoy it. I look forward to your review of it.
Ooh I just finished Their Eyes Were Watching God and really enjoyed it! The writing is so beautiful, I couldn't believe it was written in 1937
I have some big books I hope to tackle this year. On my channel I’ll be documenting my reading of America’s top 100 favorite books. Included on that list are Gone with the Wind, The Stand, and Lonesome Dove. I’m excited, but those are some beasts. Their Eyes Were Watching God is on the list too.
erin go read Sounds like an awesome challenge to tackle. I’ll be sure to subscribe so I can follow your journey. I might join you for a book or two.
Oh! Eager to hear your reactions once you start them! 📚

If my memory is right, the origin of "Forever Amber" was a paper that Kathleen Winsor wrote for a history class. The novel was strong material for its day (1944) and was banned in Boston. Linda Darnell starred in the movie version. "Forever Amber" is a great trip through British history.---"Their Eyes Were Watching God" has beautiful, lyrical writing. Zora Neale Hurston's writing is close to being poetry. You're in for a special read with this one, Helene.---I have "Memento Mori" but haven't read it yet but have enjoyed her other works that I've read.
Good luck on your goal! I also hope to read Their Eyes Were Watching God this year. I want to continue on with Maya Angelou’s autobiographies too. I finished the first one, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and started Gather Together in My Name. So so good 💜
❣Hi, Helene, there's something ringing in my memory about Amber...must be a long time ago. The other 2 ones I don't know, but will check. In Christmas time I watched WAR AND PEACE in TV, a 4 piece series and started to reread the book on my kindle App. Some pages to finish beside the Hungarian trilogy and a very nice book of Florian Illies called simply '1913' I got for Christmas and am enjoying very much, I even got part 2... Happy reading, love, Monika❣
Forever Amber is larger than the other two books combined. I've only read Their Eyes Were Watching God, and it is on my all-time favorites list. Might need to reread it this year.
Just now subscribed to your channel. I am from India.
Good books👌
I love Zora Neale Hurston! I hope that you enjoy reading her.
Did you cut your hair? I love it! Their Eyes Were Watching God is on my list for 2019 too actually! Though I haven't even heard of your first 2 books. I can't wait to hear what you think of them!
I think forever amber sounds brilliant if you fancy a buddy read over on voxer for March I would love to read and discuss it with you. No worries if you already have plans but sounds like such a good chunky novel with lots to discuss
My 2019 classics TBR are East of Eden by John Steinbeck and Tender is the Night by F.Scott Fitzgerald.
Interesting pick. Long books still scare me as I'm still not back to reading much on a workday, which makes them seem so much bigger. o.O
The prime of Miss Brodie is a short yet memorable book by Muriel Spark. I shall seek out Memento mori.
Helene: There is a 60s or 70s British movie of Momentomori you can watch on booktube....its kind of funny for it's time but worth a watch after you read the book.
I read Forever Amber. She got into so much trouble.
put Memento Mori on my reading list thanks to you! weirdly haven't heard of it until now. have you read don quixote?
Forever Amber - I will be interested in what you think of that book as it takes place during a time period that I find intriguing, but the length of the novel seems daunting. However, I have promised myself not to judge my reading by the number of books I read so it shouldn’t matter if I read three books or one long one right? Happy reading and it is always nice to see you again : ) .
Wow, I read Forever Amber when I was a kid! I dont' remember and it would be fun to revisit-it caused quite the scandal at one time!
Momento mori sounds interesting! Will you be reading any of them in different languages?
I have been wanting to read "Memento mori" for a long time now but I haver never considered it a classic. Perhaps 2019 will be the moment.
Hello, Helene! Interesting choices, didn't know any of them but now they are on my radar :) Btw, I have just started my own booktube channel and I would be delighted if you’d check it out. Thank you and happy reading!
