2WISTD - Ep26, next time we start the car and do some AWD skids.
It actually fwd not awd
You guys should buy an RX-7 or Cosmo!
You need to crank the engine for the fuel pump to prime... Mitsubishi made it a safety thing to where if any case u crash the car and the fuel pump will cut off when the engine turns off
Mighty Car Mods you Better be careful before you get 2wistd around a tree😂
Would be a better title: we 2wistd the key 😏
Yes..
Amazing
Was going to comment that as well. Seems like great minds think alike. 😂
Nice call man!
Thank you.
"fuel safe container..."
uses water bottle.
EVO LYFE.
Adam Spencer right Lmbo love it
They are fuel safe, I got annoyed at some worry warts on a motorcycle forum that were afraid to use pop bottles as one time fuel storage here in canada where there is 500 miles of bush road with no stations. I put some 2 stroke mix on a shelf in the shed, it's been sitting for 10 years now and it's still seals fine.
@@coast2coast00 when I was little we used to fish motorbikes out of the canal, and get them working, a glass bottle for a fuel tank, while it works, after it falling off and setting the bike and me on fire. 15th birthday smoke and canal bath...fun times.
Yeah, as long as you make sure it's got "PET" or "PETE" imprinted on the bottom (pretty much every clear bottle), there are no issues. Polyethylene is highly resistant to petrol.
Solo cups do not work so i see where they are coming from.
I've been watching mcm for years now, and I am genuinely entertained by the knowledge of cars they have, and provide, as well as the comedy aspect they bring into the genre they post in. So grateful to have found this channel 5 years ago.
Shame the ecu can't control the subs, I wanted to see bass by gear instead of boost by gear
The Haltech 1000 can. If the engine is using 2 coils / waste spark, there will be 2 spare ignition outputs. Run this to an oscillator / function generator and you have RPM referenced sound. There are also 5 digital pulsed outputs so if there are not being used you could reference these to road speed or something else.
Why not both?
Ol' el paso.
The sound could get messy with 2 inputs. However, if you use a X / Y oscilloscope, you can get pictures. Perhaps place a flat screen TV on the back of the car for a light show. Look at " Tektronix Oscilloscope Music " on the channel " CuriousMarc " The pics get better later in the vid.
Do a search for " Are Automakers Lying to Your Ears? WheelHouse " car makers are generating fake car sounds.
This car screams for a danger to manifold warning and a floorpan that falls off.
Nice F and F reference. RIP Paul Walker.
Can i ask how is that supposed to happen..?
Blowing out the floorpan..
Was that because of the welds?
@@garystinten9339 Who knows? It was in Fast and Furious, a movie (hell, a whole series of movies) made entirely by people who know nothing about cars.

Just a bit.

Steven Harper I think it was there to hold the battery clamp on since it was loose n came off without tools
I love how Scotty has so much class that he refuses to say someone screwed up. Such a positive dude.
You just called your orange turd a 'supercar'... :P Note: great way of integrating sponsorship, actually has something do with the project and no annoying cut.

It is a supercar.
Not sure if you fellas will read this but early 4G63 powered cars only prime the fuel pump with the starter ON (i.e. , engine needs to be cranking in order to get pressurised fuel). Early EVOs and DSMs are like that. The pump doesn't do anything when the key is only in the ignition stage. So maybe take a look at that. Also I know this is a no-brainer but these cars also have a hard time starting at all if you have less than basically 1/3rd of a tank full. So make sure you fill it up at least halfway. Talking from personal experience here.
Kryndon64 you can literally hear the fuel pump prime when he turns the key to on.
I should say the fuel pump ran dunno if it actually made any pressure
@@douglasm3310 That wasn't the fuel pump. In fact it's almost impossible to hear the pumps on these cars unless it's aftermarket and a beefier unit. They make a constant, high pitched but muffled sound whilst they're running. it doesn't click or clack. Usually these cars make two noises when ignition is turned on: The ISC motor does a few loud clicks (as Tuning Fork said he heard it), and the ECU relay somewhere under the dash also clicks once.
i know this is a big channel and all but i found this video really irritating it was like they had no idea what to do some car geek oh the wiring is to complicated il change the ECU wait the fuse is blown i cant change a fuse thats to hard LOL WTF i dont think these guys could get a fuck in a brothel if they would of just put gas in it and changed battery and spark plugs and not let geek boy fuck with everything it would of started straight up.
@@stonedwookie8556 Yeah I too dabble in car electrics, not as much as Tuning fork but i've still got a decent toolkit in my boot full of fuses, crimps, bullets and rings etc
My dad is watching this with me and yelled. "Gut that p.o.s. and make a new wiring harness!"
I agree. All new wiring.
Gut the interior while they're at it.

"This episode its gonna start" - moog. Biggest lie I've ever heard in my life
It's not like that's a second time he said that. Oh wait...
You've lead a very sheltered life if that's the biggest lie you've ever heard. Anyhow the title says turn key doesn't say start.
Honestly pisses me off
@@camdavies5530 it was a joke cus he says it heaps. Also not necessarily a reference to the title either
@@XxsubstantialxX right on buddy I know Moog was joking but your comment makes it sound's like you didn't realize that. Sarcasm doesn't often work very well in written form dude
Mighty Car Mods That red wire tied to the battery terminal At 7:30 was your positive lead indicator. That's how the previous owner avoided hooking the battery up backwards.
As you do in a show car lol.. 😂
... again
Please make this man make his own channel, such a nice dude
Haltech heros, check it out.
Scottie? (SP?) I've seen him on the Haltech YT Channel.
he cant change a fuse i wouldn't
let the guy near my car with a ten foot pole
Stoned Wookie you’re a fuckwit being unable to find the right fuse in a car that has been electrically molested for the last ten years is in no way a reflection of somebodies mechanical capabilities.
He's a lovely dude, and it seems like he's doing all the work while Moog bludges around making shit jokes and keeping his hands clean lol
I hope you guys keep this up. I love seeing these things live again.
I was taught as a motor vehicle technician that you always, always check the spark plug gap with feeler gauges as you never know if someone has dropped the plug and possibly closed the gap. You can't trust they are at the correct gap. ALWAYS CHECK. ALWAYS!!!!!
Was watching Cresta vs. Dragweek [EP4] and this popped up, nice!
I was gonna go to sleep but now
I'm 2wistd
same😈
Scott is awesome. Tech tip, Using a power probe allows one to energize the fuel pump at the hat, to prove if good, then trace back wiring. Cheers,ed.
5:20 Moog with the real talk.
This is why Moog is one of my favorite human beings on this planet.
One episode closer to the race to see who’s vehicle is better!
Just a little possible solution being an ex-show car, might be a anti-theft switch inline with the fuel pump... location maybe near that rear external battery hook up.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing it run, well done guys
This is fun to watch! Keep these kind of videos coming mate!
wire the pump to a switch for extra James Bond affect
No, that's led wheel arches mate XD
TheVeyron623 bro you know xD
Most people know, yes.
Such as it's been sitting around for sometime i bet it's crap in the tank and also stale fuel. I would of flushed the tank and put in fresh fuel.
You'd be surprised what they'll run on. I bought 2 4g63t awd dsms both sitting for 10+ years, one hour later I had one running on sludge brown gas.....not great but it was running and some how managed to hold an idle
I love how you guys show the real world . Some other CZcamsr would just do some editing and not show the fact you can't get the car to start. Thanks for keeping things real!
i like how moog makes original music for each car gives them character just like our mcm hosts and friends
This may sound stupid but one of my cars if you turn the ignition off the immobilizer comes back on. 90s alarm thing and it disables the fuel pump. Sometimes I have to lock and unlock it
The new ECU should take care of that, since replacing it got rid of that old alarm system at the same time.
Cool but my alarm system is separate to the ECU. Is this a different set-up is this all one unit?
What this show has taught me is that if your working on a project car with big expectations, even if it means just starting, that it’s okay if it doesn’t start, with a little help from friends and dedication, you can eventually fulfill your goals and come out with a really nice running car. And this show is just super mad, I love it. Thank you guys
You guys are my favorite car channel on CZcams and I’ve been watching you since the beginning. I wish I was in the same country as you cause I would love to take photos of all the cars you have worked on 😭
First job should have been to do a compression test
Apparently it’s more important to waste half the episode changing a battery
yeah... nah.
No need to if the engine is cranking as evenly as that did . It tells that all the cylinders have the same compression.
If you were a mechanic I would make sure to take my car to someone else.
@@lokitekki tell that to my m50 I just pulled out of my car, low compression in 3 cylinders and I still drove it around to local drift events and it starts, cranks, and drives decent.

Just before the 5-minute Mark When you said we take these lovely friends with us on our journey, accurately depicts the heart of this Channel and that's why I love it!
Im in love with the 4g63. I am a proud owner of a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse gsx. Im in the middle of having a forged block built for my car. I cant wait for the day i turn my key and hear the car come back to life.
I think the main issue is a 2WISTED wiring loom.
Next episode... change a fuse.... You should drag it out for a few more episodes... it might start by Easter.

This Journey with 2wisted has re ignited my love for working on my own car.. Thanks Moog and Tuning Fork !
Put simply this was the most entertaining video I've ever seen. I refuse to type out how funny this all was. I watch at least 50hrs of autojournalism a week. I literally broke into tears at the battery bit and didn't stop. This video physically harmed me with laughter.
I don't know about that computer system, but on most dsms the fuels pump doesnt prime untill it sees signal from cas. Ie: cranking
The haltech primes the pump if you turn the key on
@@BoBB2000 ya I've never used a haltech, I just know the factory and ecmlink setups need the cas signal. Figured it may have helped
Most factory setups have a 5 second prime at key on. They've started moving to prime on door open now.
Yea I was thinking same thing cas
Yooo who needs sleep. It's 3:37 here
I have *ALWAYS* Hard Wired my fuel pumps, at least in all of my tuner cars. It eliminates so many issues that can happen. A few years back In my Ver5 STi, I had the fuel pump melt the entire harness from pump to fuse box, so I hard wired it & added a hidden kill switch. Now my Evo & GDB have the same done.
Got a 10pm to 4am shift coming up, will watch this during my break 😓

*that's the joke*
That was... underwhelming. 15 mins of only a battery change and a couple of failed starts. It’s sad that the only exciting part of the video was the ECU swap lol.
It's not like this is a movie with every sequence thought out for MAXIMUM EXCITEMENT. It's a series showcasing all the work done on the car to get it to the point of starting. Would you prefer they just skipped all this and we ultimately receive less content? It's a journey mate based on real events, not some made up fairytale where everything goes perfect
I know but it really feels like they are milking it
@@headchef5680 cos they are. Moog always buys cars blind because they can make a bunch of episodes just fixing it. They've even got a click-bait title for it
@TasShuffler I know what MCM is about, been watching for years now. But even by MCM standards this video is on the low side. At least in the last video they were working with the fuel pump and servicing the engine. This video content in summary is “talk about battery, talk about ECU, plug new ECU and the last couple of minutes we actually get to see some actual troubleshooting of the car (with no resolution). I don’t mind the guys explaining stuff but when the explaining takes way more time than the actual procedure... also I don’t mind advertising for sponsors as long as the advertising doesn’t drag for too long.
a man who can change a ECU but not a fuse LOL
I gotta say boys. Appreciate the time you guys have been putting in to get these videos out :)
*Just run a wire from the battery to the fuel pump to get it running.* If it's running well then find out what courses that it's not getting power. If you put the key in the ignition stage than it should make noise (pumping of course for a second). I had the same problem and it was corrosion around the connection of the fuel pump fuse. So it could be the fuse or wiring around it. Also, check if the inertia switch is pushed in if it has one. Shouldn't be that hard of a problem to solve.
Turn it into a Race Car Just Like 2sexy
Re-sexspeced 2sexy Vs 2wisted
Ooooft, super disappointed that I didn’t get to see if properly started, hope your sort the fuse issue out, I’ll stay posted! Good luck!
This is something I like to do on cars with an unknown history. Before hooking up the battery test across the battery leads for a dead short. Had a car I had just finished putting back together and the positive lead at the starter had made contact with the engine block.
I love how the person who built this came on fb to defend it and prove it was as good as it looked in 09. But really as MCM are uncovering more stuff we're really just seeing its just a hobbled together POS with the minimum work to get it running in the first place, plus don't know how that original owner can call this a reputable build when the car doesn't even have the same front and rear stud pattern.
Honestly mate.. it's a show car for cruising, not a build for sema.
Show us your build.
@@5punkybob Wiring is the most basic thing and one of the easiest parts of a build - and yet they've completely fucked it up, did you see all the crimp connectors and just in general messy wiring at 15:22 - even for a show car thats not good and consequently has led to problems.
@@MrJustapersn To be fair to the original owner, it's probably the 15 other people (hacks) that have owned it after that have butchered it. The stereo has been hacked, and the subs look like cheap replacements. The thing has been butchered and canabalised over the years.
@@5punkybob Builds for SEMA are worse. One of the cars I saw that got a ton of press quoting huge HP numbers... Didn't even have intercooler piping. Honestly thats a sick looking battery. Blue and yellow. I wonder if they ship to Canada. You guys are so lucky. I'm Japanese, and I probably will never see the homeland. keep up the awesome work.
It's a 1st generation dsm cas. It requires crank or rotation of the cam angle sensor for the pump to prime again. Use your fuel safe container. Or containers. Pull the fuel rail. Don't drop the black spacers. Put each injector in the containers. And remove and rotate the cas by hand and see if the injectors spray. With the key on.
Please get some new spark plug wires🥰 they ruin the look of the engine bay
