My wife and i both have the A71. Best phone we have both had. We upgraded from the s7, so the jump in quality was quite noticeable. We looked at the s20, but its price, and the few features it has over the A71 was just not worth it. The A71 has carved its own niche, the high end mid range phone!

What jump in quality? From QHD to FHD, from metal and glass to plastic, from ip67 to no water resistant, from wireless charging to no wireless charging... Of course it has advantages over s7 but we can't talk about "jump in quality".
To be fair though, with respect to the time period, this is offering the same number of features as those old flagships, if not more. The bar has just moved higher and so has the price.
iPhone 11 is the almost the same price as the a71 5g 2 months later highly recommend the a71 5g because my sister has the iPhone 11 and the a71 destroyed it

Written on an A71: Don't forget to use 64MP 3:4 when using the camera, to make 9k pictures, or else it is just 4k 3:4. Not that it matters much. Also in settings 4k video and stuff...
@@firemaxo Pictures can have 9248x6936 pixels at 3:4 64MP or 6936x9248 at 4:3 64MP. Video is 16:9 UHD 3840x2160 max both main and front camera if you select it in the settings.
I've come to the A71 from a Huawei P20 Pro, and overall am very happy, it was being able to add a micro sd card that swung me back to Samsung, and the fact I no longer wanted to own a Chinese phone. The screen on the A71 seems much more colourful than the Huawei, and the only negative I've found so far about the Samsung, is it's nowhere near as good sound wise as the Huawei, in terms of the speaker, and loudness of ringtone and notification sounds. However the Samsung cost me half the money the Huawei did, so you've got to take that into account, but if that's something that bothers you, it's definitely something you'd have to consider. Build quality is fine, the plastic back doesn't bother me at all. For anyone reading this in the UK, I got mine from Affordable Mobiles on O2 for £26 a month with 30gb of data! Plus there's redemption which if you remember to send it in, will cut another £102 off your contract deal. Best deal I could find by far.
finally watching this on my A71, overall I felt that this phone is worth its price, I'm happy with the battery and the processor as well as the premium design itself, I'm buying this phone over other devices solely based on its better processor, better camera, better battery, better charging speed! nice video btw keep it up

I'm from Australia and I have this phone. Has anyone else noticed extreme mobile data issues with the phone? My reception and data cuts off every 10 mins and can't receive or make phone calls/messages or even use my own data. Its so frustrating. Several other people have this bug also and not many people are talking about it.
Just grabbed the A71 5g - for those wondering there are actually some slight differences between the models, aside from the 5g capabilities. The 5g model has been excellent so far and was chosen over the one pluse 8 pro, am not disappointed. The lack of water resistance is easily the biggest issue with this device as others in it's class have IP ratings.
That was a great review thank you very much, I just bought one and it was definitely about weighing the pros and cons, I just couldn't see spending more but then again spending &275 or $3000 just seemed like it was worth it not to go an extra $100, I actually I got it for $389 on eBay in case anyone wants to buy one you can find plenty of them there for under $400, believe it or not the colour matters...
I'm glad there are reviews like this that tell people what this phone is and the demographic Samsung was going for with these A series phones. Grinds my gears with random people crapping on them because they expect flagship features on a mid tier phone which is stupid to think you would at this price point.

Had mine for about 8 weeks now, and it's bugging me. Freezes and becomes unresponsive often. Recovers after a soft reset, but I have to do that two to three times a day. I was very happy with it at the start, but it's proved itself to be nowhere near as good as the Huawei P20 Pro it replaced.

The A71 is a superb phone. It’s the best mid range phone out there. I was doing some research for my next phone and after reading various reviews, I decided to purchase. I am very pleased with this phone. It’s actually really powerful. Great detailed review.
Got this phone 2 days ago for around 400€ and I honestly just love it. Had the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) before and the upgrade is just awesome to me. Idc that it doesn't have wireless charging or that it only has a plastic back (cuz I use a case anyways) and the non-existent water resistance also doesn't bother me too much yet so...idk, I'm more than happy with it so far, I think it's great! ^^
@@klumpfiskare746 Sorry for the late reply! Idk if you already bought a new phone now but for the A71 I still haven't found any downsides yet, after using it for almost a month. The only minor problem is that for some games (mainly rhythm games that you have to play while holding your phone vertically) the phone is a bit too big to comfortably play them, but that's probably because my hands are kinda small haha. But apart form that I haven't had any problems yet :)
used to always buy the flagships but lately prices and lack of innovation have hit hard, not to mention i love my OLED and AMOLED screens but my s8 had terrible burn in after just 2 years. rlly started noticing that when i went to android 9 where you can replace bottom buttons with swipe gestures, immediately saw burn in fade image of the buttons that where previously there. went from an s8 to an a71. It actually got everything i needed and the 730 cpu actually performs alot better than the sd850 in a lot of benchmarks besides the fact that its a more power saving chip. That with the 4500 mAh battery is so great. I also like the fact that they didnt go too far with the resolution like they did on the s8 with the qhd. Never used it anyway since it takes so much battery and difference not even noticeable to me, not to mention screen replacement for s8 here in the netherlands is over 200euros. I picked this phone up yesterday for 370euros, go figure.
I was choosing between Iphone SE 2 and this phone but when I tried the demo phone of A71, i fell in love right away. So now im watching this video using my A71.🤩
@@angelvarela9830 the phone is really big for my small hands, the ultrawide is good and the cameras. The rom and ram is large too and everything loads so fast. One thing i dont like is that there is no manual adjustment for focus in the camera

Yes, totally agree with you, I had S20 and I needed to charge it at least twice per day. A71 has the same charger as S20 and camera or screen is everything I need. I can do the transition menu faster by eliminating the specific setting and I didn't see the need so much of 120 Hz screen for media and internet as I use it usually. 120 Hz is more useful in games which I don't do. So A71 is for me exactly what I need, One UI OS as the flagship S20 and rest of specs that I need for much lower price. I spent 300 USD for it from telecom offer so it worth the money.
I have the last generation A70, and it still runs super smoothly. Apart from the screen being slightly too big, but the new A series for Galaxy seems like a pretty promising series.
Just set my A71 up. So so disappointed with the camera. I've switched up from the S8. The front camera doesnt focus, I've gone from 8MP camera to a 32MP one but they're so blurry, massive downgrade! Anyone know how to fix this or is it just a bad camera? So confused!
I work around a lot of water, so I'm not sure about the lack of water resistance on the A71. I'm still using a Galaxy S8, and it's meeting all of my needs.

I got the A71 about 2 months ago. Generally I love it but the "Pro" setting on the camera is disappointing. You can't change the exposure time and you hardly have any settings that allow you to tweak aperture and whatnot. Also the gyroscope is iffy. I kinda wish I I would've gotten an s10.

How you could over look the complete lack of Samsung not guaranteed security updates for this phone is shocking. Also much cheaper phones have stereo speakers and this Samsung doesn't! Come on you really missed pointing out some major flaws... There's a recent poll on what are the top issues for people buying a new phone and although it was lower than I expected... 1 out of 5 people rate security updates on phones as the most important reason in assessing a phone. I am one of those people.

My battery can easily lasts over a day with light usage, like watching vids, playing casual games, instagram etc.
It also charges up quickly too, under an hour it can charge from 30-100%

Going from a galaxy j7 sky pro to this has been amazing. I don't care about the camera at all. I don't buy phones for its camera. This is a great updated sleek looking phone. I guess people who always get the newest models of every phone will be disappointed but this phone is a gem. Def worth it!
Well, I usually use headphones, I’m not too bothered about wireless charging and I don’t take selfie’s. Sold.

The A71 is a superb phone. It’s the best mid range phone out there. I was doing some research for my next phone and after reading various reviews, I decided to purchase. I am very pleased with this phone. It’s actually really powerful. Great detailed review.
Got this phone 2 days ago for around 400€ and I honestly just love it. Had the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) before and the upgrade is just awesome to me. Idc that it doesn't have wireless charging or that it only has a plastic back (cuz I use a case anyways) and the non-existent water resistance also doesn't bother me too much yet so...idk, I'm more than happy with it so far, I think it's great! ^^
I have the a5 2017 now and I am looking to buy a new phone. Is there a major downside with this phone or is it great in every aspect?
@@klumpfiskare746 Sorry for the late reply! Idk if you already bought a new phone now but for the A71 I still haven't found any downsides yet, after using it for almost a month. The only minor problem is that for some games (mainly rhythm games that you have to play while holding your phone vertically) the phone is a bit too big to comfortably play them, but that's probably because my hands are kinda small haha. But apart form that I haven't had any problems yet :)
I also have A50 2017 model. It's been a great mob & still going well but might be time 4 upgrade. 🤔🙏😋
used to always buy the flagships but lately prices and lack of innovation have hit hard, not to mention i love my OLED and AMOLED screens but my s8 had terrible burn in after just 2 years. rlly started noticing that when i went to android 9 where you can replace bottom buttons with swipe gestures, immediately saw burn in fade image of the buttons that where previously there.
went from an s8 to an a71. It actually got everything i needed and the 730 cpu actually performs alot better than the sd850 in a lot of benchmarks besides the fact that its a more power saving chip. That with the 4500 mAh battery is so great. I also like the fact that they didnt go too far with the resolution like they did on the s8 with the qhd. Never used it anyway since it takes so much battery and difference not even noticeable to me, not to mention screen replacement for s8 here in the netherlands is over 200euros. I picked this phone up yesterday for 370euros, go figure.

@@angelvarela9830 the phone is really big for my small hands, the ultrawide is good and the cameras. The rom and ram is large too and everything loads so fast. One thing i dont like is that there is no manual adjustment for focus in the camera

Yes, totally agree with you, I had S20 and I needed to charge it at least twice per day. A71 has the same charger as S20 and camera or screen is everything I need. I can do the transition menu faster by eliminating the specific setting and I didn't see the need so much of 120 Hz screen for media and internet as I use it usually. 120 Hz is more useful in games which I don't do. So A71 is for me exactly what I need, One UI OS as the flagship S20 and rest of specs that I need for much lower price. I spent 300 USD for it from telecom offer so it worth the money.
..and now 5/11/2020 it's $361 on Amazon...and sure to continue to drop in price.
The pixel 4a is coming out at $350 so im deciding between those two atm

Just set my A71 up. So so disappointed with the camera. I've switched up from the S8. The front camera doesnt focus, I've gone from 8MP camera to a 32MP one but they're so blurry, massive downgrade! Anyone know how to fix this or is it just a bad camera? So confused!

I work around a lot of water, so I'm not sure about the lack of water resistance on the A71. I'm still using a Galaxy S8, and it's meeting all of my needs.

Not same screen as A51. This has Super Amoled Plus screen based on RGB strip not pentile.
It has a faster processor too...its a complete different phone than the A51

I got the A71 about 2 months ago. Generally I love it but the "Pro" setting on the camera is disappointing. You can't change the exposure time and you hardly have any settings that allow you to tweak aperture and whatnot. Also the gyroscope is iffy. I kinda wish I I would've gotten an s10.
I have a A8 from a few years ago and looking to update. I am thinking aboit the A51 but the A71 is appealing. Bigger screen and battery

How you could over look the complete lack of Samsung not guaranteed security updates for this phone is shocking. Also much cheaper phones have stereo speakers and this Samsung doesn't! Come on you really missed pointing out some major flaws... There's a recent poll on what are the top issues for people buying a new phone and although it was lower than I expected... 1 out of 5 people rate security updates on phones as the most important reason in assessing a phone. I am one of those people.

My sister got the A51 when her P20 Pro got stolen and i was schocked from the camera for that price...
she should've got the m31 same thing but a bigger battery for less money
if you plan on buying a cheap phone get the s10e, mid-range get the a71 if you can't pay for it then the m31 is perfect and alot better than a51
