S20 Ultra is the better device
A71 is a better smarter purchase
Yeah, I have the Ultra. No way I would pay full price up-front for it. I switched to a new carrier and they gave me a good monthly payment plan for the phone and will own it out right in 18 months. Otherwise I would have no problem getting the A71, if I had to buy it up front. 👍😎

I got an A71 because I’m fed up with wasting money on £1000 mobiles. Ok the A71 is not ip rated, well I won’t get it wet. No wireless charging, so what. One speaker, I will just plug my headphones in.

Same. I've been going from flagship to flagship for over a decade and its draining as hell. Been on mid rangers for almost a year now and am just as happy tbh for by usage. Ordered a A71 8/128 for $379 which arrives today. So stoked!

You should have got an S9 as it is waterproof, has wireless charging, has surround sound dual speakers and is much more powerful than the a71. For a cheaper price if you get the S9 preowned.

I have a iPhone 11 pro max and a Galaxy A71.. Have to say I love my A71 especially for the price.. It is a fantastic phone! Believe me I am a total phone snob and you would not be disappointed with the A71.

The performance of the s20 wasn't that much better than the a71...I would totally get the a71
better camera better performance with games, better memory, better fingerprint scanner, better charging, better front camera, better speakers, better display.

Watching on a71. Great phone, fully satisfied and btw it has nfc and samsung pay.
Got my A71 today after my Note 3 died after 6 years of use. No way i will pay uo to a 1000 Dollars or Euro for a phone, that is insane. Very happy with this phone.

Haha, I had a note 4 before, with a thick case and screen protector it still looks like new, of course, I changed the battery once and installed a clean OS before giving it to my parents to use. :P
The s20 ultra definitely didn't worth that price especially the exynos version. And my country is selling the exynos version 😑

Really comes down to preference, I have the S20+ Ultra and it's awesome however I'm a Samsung guy so I love the fact they're putting out awesome phones across the board, awesome video.

The S20's have ultrasonic finger print scanners. The A71's have an optical finger print scanner. With this current pandemic,. S20 users can wear smooth rubber gloves to login and use their S20's. You can't wear anything with A71 finger print scanner. You just have to remember to setup your finger prints while wearing those rubber gloves for the S20's.

I always put my phone in a case so the build quality of the bezel etc really doesn't matter.. can't justify forking out for a S20 when the A71 is available
I just bought the a71 5g and so far I am highly impressed. As a power user who couldn't swollow giving up my headphone jack, I am also happy to have saved a lot of money while giving up so little. Samsung hit it out of the park with the A series. I have very few complaints.
Bought an A71. Bought a wireless charger enabler that plugs into the usb c port and stick to the back of the phone. Bought a waterproof case. +profit
My biggest beef with the current Samsung A lineup is the fact they're all using Gorilla Glass 3 and have no water or dust resistance at all. Even my old A5 (2017) had Gorilla Glass 4 and IPS68 rating.

you might want to do another review. I bought my A 71 back in November 0f 2020 and it is a 5G phone now. I paid 500.00 for the phone - what a great phone.

I have both and I have to say the screen is bright and more vibrant on the a71 but the 120hrz on the s20 plus is butter!!!

@@krosses7156 s9 colour issues top 1/3 is brighter and the other is warmer so in a way thats the phone wearingout but I only use it a few hours daily not impressed.
I have the A71 and it has the NFC and Ive used with google pay in a lot stores here in Puerto Rico. And the doble SIM card is the best part on the A71, when you dont wants to carry your Corp. Phone and your personal one. But also in the situation of lack of signal in one and then switch to the other sim in one second, thats priceless. To me, The most value diference on this models are the 6 to 12Gb RAM, The wireless charging and IP rated of the S20 but is not a $1k value worth IMO.

I love my a71 but I wanted to see how the flagships are these days and I got the s21 ultra 5g and I'm not gonna say that it's way better but it definitely feels, looks and is way more speedier than my a71. Hope to see you do a comparison of the new ones!
I have a Samsung galaxy A70 i bought it in November 2019 it is FANTASTIC and it has the software update to android 10 one UI 2.0 and I'm sticking with it! I won't be replacing mine anytime soon!

They are both good phones I bought the a71 because it's only for personal use and pairs nicely with my Samsung TV ultra is better but it's down to preference and use

I just got rid of my 1000$ s10 plus I'm done with paying so much money ...just got the a71 at Verizon for 240 $ its been a couple of weeks and I love the a71 saved me 700$
I'm considering the same. Have the s20 that I upgraded from s7. Thinking of exchanging it for the a71 or possibly the s20 plus, which is currently on sale I think for $799. A71 is better price and can be paid off at once and put on Verizon's prepaid plan. Perhaps wait a year or so and see what the next A series is like or check into the lg v70 and the note 21.

Wasting money on the latest tech that will be obsolete before it's paid off: Idiots.
Good review but one major feature that was overlooked is the IP rating. The A71 has no IP rating whereas the S20 has a dust rating of 6 (highest level of protection), and the water resistance rating is 8 (water-resistant up to 5 feet for up to 30 minutes). This doesn't mean that the A71 will not survive a dust/water incident, but there is no guarantee. That's the one reason the makes the flagship phones still relevant but I still bought the A71 for myself.
Could you make a comparison with the S10+?
Does the screen size only differ by height? Is the width the same between 6.2 and 6.7? I'd be interested in the A71 but I have small hands so I'm worried it won't be comfortable to hold it or I'll keep dropping it if it's wider than a 6.2 screen.
What about glastic on the back if the A71 vs Gorilla glass 6 on the S20 ultra? Also ip68 water and dust resistance on the S20 ultra? Surely you should mention these issues as they may impact materially on choice of phone?

The problem with midrange phones is that they don’t get OS updates and they usually get buggy and slow in time. I just hope that is not that case anymore

I just got my A71 5G yesterday, I am 100% satisfied and I love it. Not bothered even it doesn't have wireless charging and it's not waterproof unlike my 7 yrs old S9. The overall performance is awesome and no problem at all. It's a wise purchase if you wanna save your money !
Good comparison and one of the main reasons to buy the A71 Samsung only updates their flagship’s (s20))for two years.
a71 NITs is not as good as the ultra , but seems to work ok in direct sunlight for the drone use
I just got the S21 Ultra. Got my mom the A71 5G (She was still rockin the S7... she got it 4 years). She loves it and I was really impressed by it.
The A71 is a damn fine device. Its only weakness is Samsung’s stance on software updates.

I got the A70 last year an awesome phone. PS 100X means 100 times. PS2 My A70 has got NFS i find hard to believe that the A71 doesn't. PS3 You have to buy separately the 45w charger in Ultra.

I think people have woken up to the fact they don't need to spend huge amounts of money on the latest flagship when something like the A71 does what they need. Plus when their livelihoods might not as be secure, it's a bit of a no brainer.

Both are fine phones and both have an intended market. What I do think this illustrates is that today, mid-range phones can give you the majority of features and functionality of the top of the line models. I currently have the A70, and yes, it has a few quirks...but it does everything that I want/need it to do. I think what viewers have to decide is this: "Am I happy with what a decent mid-range phone can do, or will I find myself feeling constrained by it's limitations?" I would not have spent $350 on a mid range phone if I then felt it did not meet my needs...
I've bee using a s8 for a while now since my note broke and just ordered a A71 but when I saw the a50 next to it in person the color and display difference was way better on the S8 which is like 3 yrs old.. so now I have been nervous its going to feel like a downgrade so hearing you say the S20 "honestly isnt worth it" I got so happy hahaha. Hopefully the A71 is a good phone in person compared to what i have now

1:01 the entry level s20 is the s20. Ultra is the premium s20.
My A71 comes with Samsung Pay and NFC (although I use Google Pay instead).

Go from an A series, to an S series phone, and you will probably not be able to put it down. Now going from an S series phone to an A series phone, and you will want to throw it at a wall.
I'm enjoying my s20 with its built-in ability to create and edit videos with sound effects and more - just like Hollywood!

3 weeks ago I got the Samsung Galaxy s20 5g. I like everything about it except no stylus pen and one doesn't work with it in my experience. The charging port is also where you plug the goofy headphone jack that's like an USB, I hate that! So now I have all these headphones I can't use, and had to get bluetooth headphones. I also didn't like having Bixby or the Samsung Daily, so I turned those features off. For me I haven't noticed anything different having 3 cams or having 5g. I'd still recommend this phone to friends and family.
I have both the S20 Ultra and the A71 5G, and I have to agree the A71 or the A71 5G is a much better buy than the S20 ultra.
The Ultra has a slightly bigger screen and a faster CPU but the A71 5G come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
I have the note 8 and I've been think about getting the A71. I'm done spending 1k on a phone. I just don't know if it's worth to go from note 8 to the A71.
Go for the note 10+ if you can afford it & rock back for some years with it

Great comparison. I have had the A71 for 15 months now after watching your brilliant detailed videos to learn all about the features. It's a great phone, I could afford an S20 but wouldn’t want to, next one will be a 5G A72. That $1,000 saving means you could have a nice new phone more often. If your A71 got stolen or broken and you had no insurance and had to replace it you'd still have spent $600 less than buying that one S20!
At first, I really want to buy s20 because of its camera. But then, it is only available exynos chipset in my country. I think I should go for a71 which is cheaper and the most important it has snapdragon.

I got the a71 for 120€ with a broken screen fixed. It myself and sold it 4 360€
