My guess is that some day the whole 365/366 day calendar will be crammed with readathons, sometimes with more 'n one of 'em going on at the same time. Lotsa fun the whole year thru, & one can partake in these bookish events as little or as much as one wishes.

But how will we know when to start as the timings are different all over the globe?
That is only for the Deweys 24 Hour read-a-thon, and like I mentioned, the start times are available on their website (link in description).
Most other read-a-thons start at midnight in your Timezone.
I believe the 24in48, you can choose to start at midnight your Timezone, or a designated time.

I want to add Non Fiction November to your calendar. This was started in 2015 by Gemma of NonFic Books and ABookOlive. From the announcement video (in case my link does not work) "The challenge is to try and read 4 non-fiction books (or as many as you can!) in November under the categories: History, Science/Nature, Culture and Society, Biography/Memoir. In case the link does not work you can find it under Non Fic books under the title #Non Fiction November 2015 Book Announcement. The actual start date and end dates in Nov are TBA.

Only some of them have sign ups (mainly those run through blogs/websites), which are literally just adding your name and blog to a list, but it isn't required. Depending on the read-a-thon, not signing up may mean you aren't eligible to enter into giveaways and prizes though, where they select winners from the sign up lists.

The #Yearathon has a goodreads group where you can go and talk to others throughout the year and share what you read.

Take a look at the website/link for each read-a-thon, it differs for each one. Some you can join on Goodreads, others add your details to a list, or post a tweet/blog post/video etc. announcing your participation, though with some you don't need to do anything.

The numbers refer to the round, so it will be the third time TBRTakedown is happening, and 15th time for Bout of Books :)
For information on if there are reading guidelines, you can check the links for each read-a-thon in the description. A lot of read-a-thons let you read anything you like, whilst some have reading challenges

I think that I'll try the #AYearathon this year. Even if I only get one book done for each month that will help me make it to my goal. I started off really strong with my goal last year but then I got a second job and everything went down hill from there. I want to make my goal this year. I used to read nearly 100 books a year when I was in my teens and early 20's but I didn't even make it to 50 last year (only 36 books) Hopefully I'll make it to my goal of 40 this year.
