The real struggle is when you don't live in an english speaking country, but you only read in english. There are some books in english in certain bookstores but they all are paperbacks and basic things like john green, THG or HP. It can be really great if you find a book you want, but if you have all the basic stuff or are not interested it's really hard to find. I love The Book Depository, the free shipping is amazing but for the hardback lover that I am, they are still really expensive. If I want a paperback I usually look up on Amazon, they have some for like, 7 € so it's really great, but they don't have all the covers. The biggest frustration of my life is that I can't use bookoutlest because of the crazy shipping costs. My main problem is that I want a specific cover everytime and I'd rather pay more to have a beautiful hardback than less for a crappy perperback. Aahh the book lover problems :')

Libraries are awesome. Plus other than borrowing the library books you also get book sells. The book sells are like amazing. Dirt cheap book and cheaper than used bookstore or thrift store. I recently got a whole bag of books for a dollar. Yard sales are great too. I don't know if you have a 2nd Charles store but it's a great store where you get used books and also they have a free bin where all the free books are.

I'm from Tennessee and around here we have a few of the Mckay's used books and they are usually huge two story buildings and the whole bottom story is books with a small movie section and the whole top story is cds. The books are usually very cheap and they have very popular titles and some books that are often hard to find used.

Hi Zoe! I'm from Argentina and I only bought a book on bookdepository once (and it was because it had a really good discount) and for what I've heard, the free shipping that they have on the website may not be totally free and that it is kinda of included in the book. I believe it depends on where you are in the world, the farther you are from (i think) the UK the more expensive it is! But the great thing about this website is that there are discounts everyday, and they arrive in great conditions!
Btw, i love your videos! :)

I live in the smallest town called Boquete, in Panama. It's a small town, but a lot of foreign people live here, so the library is AMAZING and every three months they have a special sale with new books, paperbacks $1, hardcovers $2 and if you're panamanian, you get half price in everything. I've bought the whole Percy jackson series, twilight, harry potter as new,.. I mean, I have to wait a lot for new releases unless I buy them on Amazon and the library offers sweet deals.

  • @Weasleykins

I live in Canada and in Canada we have a three book stores run by the same company which are: Chapters-Indigo, and Coles. Coles is normally found in a mall, while Chapters is found outside the mall as it's own book store.
Chapters is where I buy all my books. At Chapters they have a point system called Plum points. Plum points is free and can help you save money. It works like this, if you buy a book in the store either for an in store sale or for full price you will earn more points then online.
But, if you were to buy a book online you will get a huge discount if you are a plum member. For example: If you were to buy the hardcover version of "The Raven Boys" it would cost you $15.99-$17.99, at lest a 10% discount if you are a plum points member. If you save your points you can get a certain % off your next order. like $10, $20, $40 & $100 off. A paperback book will range from $9.00-$11.99
To get free shipping you will need to spend $25 or more on your order. If there are any Canadian's or you would like to visit the site here is the link: www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/
If you have any question please ask!

We have this store specific to NC that's called Ed McKays and it's an AMAZING used book store. That's where I get all of my books now a days. Their clearance section is even better!!! That's my ultimate place to shop for books. And then for me it's Target because they always have good deals when I don't want to pay the extra shipping and handling. Lol! Walmart is reasonably priced. My last resort is Barnes and noble! I live in the Greensboro area and they shut all of our books a million stores down so they're in towns outside of Greensboro too far for me to travel! Haha!

Books-a-million is also really amazing if you get a membership because not only do you get 10% all orders BUT they send you coupons in your email and they have a $25 off of $100 purchase and that coupon is reusable. I can normally get 6 new release YA books for $75. So that is about 12.50 per book and it's pretty handy if A. you dont feel like waiting for shipping OR B. if amazon has a YA new release for more than 12.50. Barnes and noble isn't that great for in store buying but their online prices are good. and they have $10 off of 50 or 75 all the time. They, however, do not protect their packages very well so any more than 2 books might come damaged.

When you quickly dismissed the library because you have to return the books you check out, you forgot to mention that public libraries also sell used/donated books as well. As for Goodwill, I never saw one that sold books for less than 99c each. Also, there are Goodwill Books stores - but, those stores are high on book prices as well. Thrift stores are great places to buy books - except Value Village, which is usually high on book prices. Yard/Garage Sales are excellent places to buy used books at good prices. Also, flea markets usually have reasonably priced used books - I know this since I am a book dealer at a local flea market.

I live in a city with an increasingly ageing population, so we've got a lot of charity shops. Apart from Twilight, Fifty Shades and the DaVinci Code, you never know what you're going to find which is part of the fun, but a paperback is usually just a pound. I now work in a charity shop, so I get a 25% discount. Most of the time my job is sorting out the books and leaving me in charge of books is like leaving an alcoholic to run the bar!I was also pleasantly surprised at some of the good books in the clearance section in WHSmith. You can get some quality paperbacks for a pound or less; I got the Bourne Identity for just 25p!I haven't actually bought any used books on Amazon, but I won a gift card in a Spelling Bee, so I'll try it out.I was wondering, if you buy a used book on Amazon for 1p (not including shipping, obviously) what sort of condition is it usually in?

In my local library there is a corner where you can buy books really cheap. I got the "Maze Runner" for about a dollar (I think).

I absolutely love Book Depository! I've been wanting to check out Book Outlet but I'm a bit skeptical about buying used books on there...have you had any bad experiences with such?

I don't know if there are any more of these stores throughout the US but I love 2nd and Charles. Most of their books are very cheap and I can spend forever in there. But then again I can spend forever in any book store lol

I buy most of my books now from Book Depository. I tend to like the UK covers more than the American ones.

You know, Apple occasionally puts AWESOME ebooks on sale for like $2-$4 on their book app, like Crimson Bound, Cinder, the Maze Runner, Clockwork Angle, the Lovely Bones, the Cuckoo's Calling, the Winner's Curse, the Host, and A. LOT. MORE but you have to get them as soon as possible because they go back to their normal price, which is usually like $10!!! (I would give that a good two weeks though😸) and btw does the website bookoutlet give you brand new books? For that incredible price and hardcover??
