    Couple notes I forgot to add to this video.
    1. As always, the words "budget-friendly" or "affordable" are relative. I strongly believe this setup is super affordable for the size and quality of the display. In the end it costs around $5k with the projector, screen, and trusses. You could save money by reducing the size of everything.
    2. The black border around the frame of the screen was a custom request when we ordered it from Karl's Place. I can't find it on their website, but I would reach out to them and tell them you want it.

We have a pull-up movie projector screen on a tripod stand and have been using an old overhead projector but the projector just died today. We've been give an old epson projector that hooks up to a laptop. I tried putting the lyrics onto song pages and projecting them like we did with the overhead but the words are too small from the projector and we'd like to be able to project the words one line at a time. What would you recommend? We have no money to spend so it would have to be simple. Thanks

Bit of a bummer, any chance you have any more recommendations Jake?? • @andrewshively6475
      @andrewshively6475 Před 5 lety

      It depends on your room. You need to ask yourself a few questions.
      - Will the room be fairly well lit or dark at most times?
      - Does the projector need to be mounted close or far away?
      - What is the size of your screen?
      If your room is dark and can be mounted anywhere, you can get by with much cheaper projectors. Short throw projectors with a good amount of lumens is typically where it gets pricey.
      At my church plant, we had a $1000 6000 lumen Optima projector in a room that was 100% lit up and had direct sunlight coming in, it was mounted about 15-20 feet from the screen and it worked just fine filling a 10-12’ screen from that distance.
      We since made some changes to the space and needed to mount the projector closer, so we were forced to sell our projector and we bought a short throw with roughly half the lumens and it was just fine as well. We mounted it roughly 5 feet away from the screen and it cast our 10-12’ image just fine. That projector was also an $800 Optima.
      To get it that big at closer distances you HAVE to get a short throw projector or else you won’t be able to get the image large enough.

Our front projectors at half the lumens and the price were a lot brighter. I checked with Amazon and it's too late to return projectors. Do you think I'm missing anything? The toolkit is misleading or at least for me it was. The link in the toolkit took me to the f24 trusses and 20x20 baseplate. After watching the video again it seems like the f34 trusses are being used. I purchased two f24 trusses and two 20x20 base plates (also in the toolkit) from B&H. These are non-returnable and non-cancelable so beware when purchasing from the toolkit. They are not the same. You need to purchase the f34 trusses and 30x30 f34 base plate, not the f24 trusses and 20x20 base plate that is linked in the toolkit. The f24 trusses are light duty about 8” wide, the f34s are medium duty at almost 12” wide. I blew a big part of our church budget buying what was linked in the toolkit. I wish I would of done more research on trusses before purchasing. Global truss has an online catalog with specs that B&H fail to provide. If I’m wrong please let me know.

    Learn NOT to use hand and arm motions when making a video. People will take you more seriously. This is just a fact of life for public speaking and was once regularly taught by English teachers everywhere. Try it. Make a video of yourself talking where you wave your hands around as you normally would. Then make a second video of yourself saying the same thing without moving your hands and arms. View and compare the two videos. You'll clearly see that the video without hand and arm movements comes across much more focused and believable. Eliminating hand and arm motions when speaking by video or in-person greatly enhances credibility to what the speaker is communicating.
    Thank you for the great info on a low cost way to construct a video system for smaller churches.
