As a child who had anxiety, my dad ended up enabling my anxiety to the point that I could not order for myself in a restaurant until I was 14 years old even though I ate chicken tenders with fries and honey mustard everywhere I went. My mom ended up just having to tell me that I wasn't going to eat if I didn't order for myself because it was so bad. But I was suggest talking him through the steps of doing it by himself and then encouraging him with positive reinforcement and words of affirmation beforehand and afterwards when he's completed the task irregardless of how it went. Tell him you are proud of him And remind him that even those things are scary they're a lot less scary on the other side
I'm glad you're working on Theo. He has such amazing leadership skills, anxiety can unnecessarily paralyse a person's progress
I was this growing up. I stagnated my own growth and abilities due to fear. I pray the Lord would help him overcome with the guidance of his parents.

I'm reading a book called "The Awe Of God"....the author says when you truly fear God nothing else makes you afraid but when you don't really fear God, then everything makes you afraid. Maybe you could keep this in mind as you pray for and direct Theo. I don't consider myself to have anxiety,but that point made me see life in a different perspective.... I love you guys. Am I missing something??? I thought you said that is her best friend for 20 years. Most likely the mom is like a 2nd mom to her. What type of friend will not be there for a friend of 20 years who lost his or her mother??? a 20 year friendship could never compare to a possible 2 year engagement, that is not his wife. She need to go and be a friend

MY UNDERSTANDING: Glen demonstrated his "standard" by cutting off the girls. He communicated his standard when it came to Yvette going to see a movie with guys but a "rule" was never set that she couldn't go. Now, his "boundary" could have been 'if my girl spends time with other men I'm out" but that was not his 'expectation' for Yvette in their bf/gf relationship... Love love love your show guys.

I was Theo as a kid & the best thing you can do is encourage & sometimes force😅 him to do the things that scare him. That’s the only way he’ll overcome it. The worse thing my parents did was just let me give up when I was scared. I had to fight to overcome that when I got older.

Hey so as somebody who struggles with anxiety and was (still kinda) also scared of doing anything, I think it would help if you did things with him before you asked him to do them by himself. That way he has a blueprint for what to expect. If you can't take him then talk him through it because a huge part of being anxious is not knowing. That may also mean he may have an issue with living up to expectations and failing so if you can also create opportunities for him to fail and try again then that will be great because then he'll know that it's a regular part of life and we can also learn by doing.

Yvette!! My family is the same way with the dishwasher!! We grew up using the dishwasher as a drying rack (with the exception of Thanksgiving pretty much, at least at some point) as well!! Actually we still do!! Haha.(:(:

Woah, guys I think you were missing the mark with the funeral question. You all missed the context. This women is speaking about a relationship that has separated her from all her other friendships, red flag. Second, going to a funeral does not entail she is giving her friend intimate comfort. I think depending on the nature of the friendship she has with the male friend it could be completely appropriate. Its possible this woman is in a controlling relationship and you may be affirming her spouse's unhealthy mistrust of her.
Hi! I love y'all and your beautiful family! Had to pause on the TV at 17:42 to come here to give my opinion. As an engaged woman, I don't see myself asking my fiance if he's fine with me going to comfort another man for any reason. I just don't see how that would be appropriate. Maybe a hey Baby can WE go spend time with so and so to try to help him through this? Not at all in the manner she put it. Then, if you can see and understand why your friends and family don't like how this person treats you, why are you even with him? It's too much going on in all of this if you ask me.
Now Theo...I was a child with anxiety. I didn't let my parents know anything about it. I'm grown, grown now. Closer to 40 than 30, and sometimes I still get anxious. I know black people are finally getting around to realizing that there is nothing wrong with therapy and I love this! Maybe a child life coach if there is such a thing, or even a trip or a few to a child psychologist may help. Idk, but he's such a sweet and smart young man. I'd hate for this to hold him back like my anxiety did me.

I was listening to the beginning of the podcast out loud and my kids love hearing "it's chocolate baby story time" if any of your kids love telling stories it could be a kid podcast. I know I always look for screen free ways to entertain the kids and we enjoy stories on Spotify. Anyway just a thought. Now I'm gonna get back to listening to the podcast 😅

No ! Lol I thought the same … I think the relationship dynamics is definitely different if it is 2 guys.
Guy best friend needs to get his act together and leave people's wives alone. He's gonna get her into his bed or rape her when she travels out there, because he senses her naivety. Once marriage happens, one's best friend should be their spouse, not some guy with a fiance.
