6 Days in June: a TRUE West Highland Way story, start to finish

  • From the streets of Milngavie, via the Lochs, Glens, forests & moors along the way, 2 best friends tackle one of the finest routes that Scotland has to offer: The West Highland Way, an honest & realistic snapshot of this iconic route.
We're both 55+ didn't treat it as a race, just an adventure for 2 old men
This story has no frills, no bombastic soundtrack & it isn't intended to tell you what you should do or what to take. I've filmed it in 4k & 21:9 format, along with some drone photography, so you can get the most out if it.
Hopefully you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the Way, like we did, by watching our adventure. We made mistakes: looking back, I'd have done it over 8 days, breaking our journey at Inversnaid and King's House Hotel, but choices were made
It was awesome and a catalyst for us to try more long distance routes in the future. If you have any thoughts or comments, feel free to leave them below

Totally enjoyed your video. We were there May 12th. We were lucky as we had sun the whole way.

I have watched lots of vids about the WHW. Yours was slightly different to the norm and I really enjoyed it. I am hoping to do it next spring.

Thanks for taking the time to watch it, David. I hope it was slightly different in a good way, if you do it next year, don't do it over 6 days...

@@Over_the_Hill Yes,in a good way, indeed. I am intending to camp but it was good to see some of the other possible stop overs, particularly on the Loch Lomond stretch. I am thinking of 7 or 8 days.

@@davidbewick6885 excellent. If I had to do it again, I'd do it over 8 days, sadly available time off from work prevented us from an 8 day adventure. I'd also have a day off in the middle somewhere

Thank you for sharing your WHW-Adventure. Like to see other experiences on this trail.

You're welcome and thank you for taking the time to watch it. We should have done it over more days and had a break halfway. Still, it taught us a lesson. Our next LDP in July is planned better

@@Over_the_Hill Yeah, I can recommend to walk such long distances in shorter sections for more days. I walked the WHW in 10 days. I took my time, also with a detour to an Island on Loch Lomond. And to have time for one day berak (if needed) is always a good idea. I think it is not good be on a hurry while hiking.

@Buszkraftowski very very true, which was my plan exactly, however my friend's free time did not allow this and he's not a fan of camping. Still, we learned our lesson and Northumberland coast path will be done in 12 miles max a day

@@Over_the_Hill I see. I was lucky I had to take 2 weeks off anyway from work. So enough time for the hike and then a few days in Scotland. Greetings from Poland.

Thanks for watching, I'll take a gander at yours too, when I get chance. I film in 21:9 using an anamorphic lens on my GoPro. It seems to look more cinematic maybe.

@@Over_the_Hill ah yea the anamorphic lens is the films industry set ha (blue light tint thing) haha :) never used a anamorphic lens and i use the go pro hero 11 for filming :)

@@airlessmean I use the hero 11 too, u can pick up the lens for as little as £35 & once u get used to them the footage can be awesome once you alter it in editing
