The Spurs have a good offense this season led by DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge, and in today's video I breakdown their spacing and movement. They don't pass like they used to, but they emply great offensive principles to create areas to attack. NBA, playoffs, Gregg Popovich.

Highlight videos shows made shot. True analysis video shows how good shots attempts are created whether it hit or misses. Amazing job Coach. Keep them coming please.
Enthusiastic Zestful Villainy so true. Low IQ players and street players all they see is isolation and dunks. High IQ players consist of spacing, floor balance, shooting and creating open shots.
Yes, it's about generating max number of high percentage looks and minimizing these on defense. That's how you win playoff games.
Yeah. I watch these and realize I don’t know anything
If you look closely to this series, you clearly see that spurs relies heavily on Lamarcus and DeRozan (and sometimes White) taking hard mid range shots all the time. And the actions setting up theese shots are pretty much standard nba things. So idk wtf is this guy talking about. Although when we compare this series to okc-portland one, we can clearly see much more disciplined basketball in general both from spurs and nuggets.
Can u guys pls join this group I need some help
Hey guys, to any new subscribers, this is type of video I really take pride in. Where I can showcase a good team and teach fundamentals of team ball like spacing and cuts at the same time. That being said, there will be plenty of game specific playoff breakdowns coming up too! (And a better mic at some point)
Coach Daniel u should have a million subscribers ur awesome 😎
Haha I literally came to the comments to say you need a new mic. You've got the content and the brain. I think what you need to keep growing is production quality, consistency, and a little bit more clickbait (i.e. put something about the nba playoffs in the title because that's a buzzword)
Good work catching Pop coaching at the end! You're already credible, and it adds even more to your ethos.
I subbed!:)
Coach Daniel new sub here Coach. I love how you include plays with missed shots just to showcase the set plays....
Mooioooving oooooon
I knew that coach was secretly a cow.
5:22 lmaooo
is that chris smoove lol
When's the remix dropping, coach daniel?
That caught me off guard
After this video I realize how SMART the spurs system is, phenomenal
Tyrone The Caldy Fan same
Yes, Popovich is genius that why he is the coach of team usa
@@bernardocutamora6685 Although it wasn't amaizing on World Cup in China...
Lmao, they had Duncan and Parker, ever since then they sucked. Always underachieved.
It’s going to be so sad when pop retires 😪
Agent00 😂 thx
Or even dies
4:26 jokic sets a pick for aldridge 😂
His foot speed is slow and he was going for a charge but immediately knew the mistake. On defense he’s a snail but oddly on offense he’s super nimble... mentally he’s just not into defense and it shows, he has a lot of growing to do to become a more complete player.
@@3KRacing offense has a different kind of movement. Jokic is able to change speed, feint moves, and do unconventional things to keep defenders off-balance. On defense quickness is more reliant on pure athleticism: even if you know where your matchup is going doesn't mean you can get there.
Yes he still has room to improve on defense though.
All in All, Coach Pop is the GOAT.
Goosebumps right when you mentioned Pop yelling at Forbes!!
Damn bro I've been watching your videos since that great Bucks breakdown against Houston! You out here giving me more knowledge than I need in life. I'm about to run this set in 2K 😂 keep up the great work. New subscriber!
Which set is it in 2k? I can't find one that has these motions.
I agree with you. Most coaches are still trying to learn how to write English meanwhile Pop is composing poetry.
amazing job ! many thanks to give us the keys to understand what really happens on the court.. and the video’s title is just legendary !! it’s just facinating how beautiful and subtle this game is or can be when organised by an artist such as Sir Pop ! j’adore ce sport ❤️
I have seen a few of your videos, but this one made me subscribe. Great stuff man
Popovich still. got it
Look at the thumb nail
Garrett O blind boi
You know that’s a towel not a period in the thumb nail right?
Evan Foster 😂
I really like that weak side switch. You can get a favorable match up without even having to set a pick. Spurs have such beautiful off ball movement.
I love it. I would really like it if you could do vidoes on in games or in series adjustments to see what coaches are doing to counter or prevent etc
Great vid!
The fact that Derozen can't shoot 3s is making spurs predictable. Too often he gets stuck when guys just pack the lane and he has to force a bad pass
Yeah despite how great this is, DeRozan becomes predictable. When Mills and White handles the ball or initiate the offense it becomes much smoother, since this pick and pop is much more effective with the threat of 3 even if you don't intend to shoot a 3.
I think Jimmy butler should go here and also kawhi leonard should come back. Klay Thompson should go here too.
Malik Spence that would be cool for me a spurs fan but I know better than everyone how much money needed for them and let’s be honest they all could go to the lakers
@@cprimetime9888 Yea I don't know about the Lakers. Honestly I'd take klay out of it as I am a warriors fan myself but jimmy and kawhi and maybe bring pau back and they would definitely be at the finals back to back to back against golden state. The Lakers aren't getting anyone good I mean let's face it who wants to go there and especially not when LeBron is playing how he is and basically he's about to retire. It wouldn't work. I'll never say never though so.
@@son_of_yah9788 Butler is a headcase so he won't fit in the spurs system. Someone like Tobi might be perfect
Like the breakdowns coach! Am a Spurs fan so even better. 😃
Great analysis!
Always love your analyses and this one was no exception. Most insightful.
pointing out that last play was hilarious like classic Pop being extra when getting after a player looool "you belonged there"
This is such a great video about the importance of spacing and off ball movement. This needs to be shown to young players everywhere.
4:57 that double pick and pop play though! first a pick and roll that was defended well then transitioned into a dribble hand off in a matter of seconds. big props to belinelli for seeing that first play didnt work so well with white, then immediately went dribble hand off pop again. these are the little things people don't give credit for!
Mooooovinng ooon 😂😂 great vid and content as always fam 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Your videos have really helped me appreciate basketball for the tactics in addition to the athleticism and spectacle. It might be good to consider making more novice-oriented videos about terms, basic tactics, and orthodox offense/defense. A history of these things could be interesting too!
correct spacing is the most important topic of Ettore Messina offense phylosophy.
Great content!
You are such a great analyser coach!I am really impressed of ur skills
I tip my hat to you, Daniel. That was a phenomenal breakdown of their offense.
Your love of the game shines bright. Especially koz instead of analysing hype, you analyse the game for what it is. Played for many years, and still find something new to learn through your work. Others just play the who's the goat game. Commend you for your efforts coach.
Thanks I appreciate it!
Never knew basketball is this complicated. Have played for years. But these guys are just on some other level. Big up to these lads!
This is great stuff
I love your lessons, dude...
1st time...great analysis!
Nice work.
Another Banger
Good shit Man U always on point. Great coaching still just the players can’t make the shots like they use to. Imagine if bron went to San Antonio (assuming he would listen to pop but I think he would)
Anyways ads at the end are clutch and I will watch them to support this kinda content
At 7:58 derozan definitely double dribbles
That was pretty interesting. 👍
5:22 Mooooooving on like T-Pain
Can you do a breakdown of hte Spurs Small-Ball so far this year? Very exciting stuff, I hope they move LMA for another BALLER(guard/wing hybrid). Space and pace!
Coach Nick has become the kind of sports channel he used to be the antidote for. Mostly super inflammatory remarks and hot takes. I'm glad you're here to fill in the void of basketball breakdowns.
This video isnt going to help Marco Bellinelli get another contract anywhere else XD
Dakota Mahan absolutely right. But let’s hope teams will just be looking on how he follow the set plays 😏
Marco is a good player, he can play in every team in NBA
haha true ! ^^
I sometimes feel like Marco is not helping himself taking so many of these "weird 3s" even if we all know he CAN make them. He is so much more of a player than a spot up 3. He moves really well without the ball, dood passer, backdoor cut really nice and overall he can dribble drive some defenders too (particularly after a pumpfake)
Absolutely beautiful
bro using auto tune now😂
Coach Pop 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
This high school basketball type shit dude like pops go crazy but this is still stuff I was being thought this year😂
5:22
"moving on"
Thats why they are my favorite team
That mooooving on killed me 😂😂😂😂
Belinelli is hella underrated, always clutch, can always rely on him
Grieg Lunar a poor man's JJ redick
Belinelli is JJ Redick's father
Jj is definitely better, plus I think belinelli takes too many forced shots
He can't shoot straight, he shoots better when his body is in a S shape, not his fault tho 😅
Beautiful catch at the end. These are the guys who deserve to be on ESPN and first take. True love of the game at its purest form.
I think the last play that you showed is also meant to create a mismatch/space for Aldridge and I've seen them use it a lot in this series. It's very similar to what Stockton and Malone did in the 90's.
Very Informative.. but I really thought its because they are good in countering opponents on defense but it looks like Pop is just very good orchestrating offense
I almost enjoy watching your video break downs more than I do the actual games lol
yeah me too. game happens too fast we cant fully understand what happened in the play. you only get to see the details in breakdown like this.
Wow.. Better than BBallbreakdown, used to love BBall...
You should make breakdowns of players with high iq, line nash, sergio rodriguez, rondo, teodosic, kidd, dragic, etc. I really like your team’s offense/defense breakdowns and it would be nice if you did the same with players
Beautiful
I don't watch basketball much, but having grown up with the sport, I really appreciate how team oriented and coordinated the Spurs are.
Nice vid
Can u post a video of why the bucks offense and defense soo good? I know giannis is obviously the main reason but my little bro been telling me middleton a great player and they got alot of shooters. Which makes it great for giannis to go downlow and grab rebounds in case of missed shots. Just want to see how they do it so effectively. By the way...i subscribed.
I am definitely not a Spurs fan, but Pop is an amazing coach, one of the few legends still in the game.
The mavs ran a version of that pick and pop thing with dirk. Sometimes over and over lots of variations
Hey I would love it if you could breakdown the Raptors offence.
Pop is just a goat
JustinTheGoat yup
MMOOOOOOIIVING ONNNN
Good vid
5:23 mooooving on
I want to say that even without mainstream big stars, the spurs have always had an incredible offense. Always contending in the playoffs year after year. Even after several roster changes after duncan, manu, and parker had left
Weakside exchange is a smart strategy damnnnn
I'm more interested in how the spurs lack explosive athletes but still defend well enough to beat the nuggets. Good work
That moving on caught me off guard
You ain’t Chris smoove babEEEYYYYY
This video just shows that even with great coaching and a well-ran system that you still need shot-makers. It's the difference between a top 5 offense losing in the first round or getting to their Conference Championship. Replacing Ginobli, Parker and Kawhi is still a work in-progress.
Nice Offence of SAN ANTONIO SPURS 2019...
That moving on got me weaaaak
I'm a Twolves fan but I want to see what Pop could do with someone like KAT
Popovich GOAT manager
You have new subscriber
That’s why POP is the best coach of all time 💪🏼
This is how basketball should be played. Most teams just lack of this level of quality.
So many good shots although some good shots won't let in.
Coach Daniel is better than ESPN analysis
spurs need more 3pt shooters
NaeNameYaBam Pop “hates threes” but the man is a fucking god at getting his team open looks. Imagine he had Klay and Curry, those two would get non stop open looks
Bertans, Patty, Forbes, and Belinelli are reliable enough
later u will see this with gsw
DeMar DeRozan Patty is really inconsistent
@@ikimretardedbut7820 yeah, but you are fucking garbage
*Gay Getting On Top*
*PAUSE*
Why are the Nuggets keeping an extra defender in the paint instead of guarding Gay on the 2nd spurs shot?
Pop is old but great
Pop is a genius
truly a good coach
What app do you use to draw on your videos?
Adobe Premiere Pro to edit. I also use Paint on windows which you can add arrows on.
6:06 Bellinelli finally hits one.
@8:45 i think it is not derozan fault because forbes should have gone to the corner notice pop after the play/? corner... so derozan can move in the gap, however, derozan notice: forbes didnt move when white attack the lane. leaving derozan no choice but to stay in his current position so a space can be created hehe
Good call, watch the next 30 seconds though me and Pop both point that out!
Honestly a lot of this should be mandatory fundamentals everyone learns by high school, not dissing Pop but these should pretty basic rotations for anyone running pick and roll/ pick and pop, but amazingly most teams and coaches have zero idea what to do on offense at lower levels, and unfortunately higher levels too
About to start using this in 2k lol
"Look at that great passing angle between White and Gay" made me chuckle lol
One word: Pop
This is just more proof Coach Pop is the best of all time.
The gap help is a strongside help, right ?
It's help from one pass away, which when done correctly can help prevent drives while not giving up open 3's.
“Poetry in motion A.I.”
Nugget assistant coaches be watching this and be like: half my job is done. Lol
Then Coach Pop will come up with some new shit on the spot.
Go spurs go
