đ ABOUT ME:
Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time CZcamsr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. I hope you enjoy my channel and if you do, please don't forget to SUBSCRIBE & leave me a comment! - Jak na to + styl
Here's how everything held up! đ„°đ„°
1. The Benefit mascara didn't smudge or flake on me! Again I wish it gave a little bit more length but I'm super happy with the volume and fanned out look it gives!
2. The Skin Tint from Hourglass actually held up well! At night when I was about to remove my makeup it still looked good, it didn't break up or separate on my skin, which I was worried about since it was so greasy at first. It continued to dry down as the day wore on and lose the sticky feel, but my skin still kept that hydrated glow. It's not bad but I don't love how it feels at first.
3. The LA Girl eyeshadows held up great! It looked just as vibrant at the end of the day as it did when I applied it. I did apply it over the NYX glitter primer though (as I do with all shimmer shadows).
4. The MUFE concealer also wore really well...it didn't sink into fine lines and looked smooth all day on me!
5. The Prisme Libre blushes also lasted all day with just a slight bit of fading toward the end, so it wasn't quite as vibrant but it was still there and looked so smooth and seamless...love them!
Thanks for this update. I can't use products with fragrance due to my skin being so sensitive. Is the fragrance in the Givenchy powders pretty intense or is it barely noticeable?
Did the brown Stila liner transfer?
I was really curious about the LA Girl Eyeshadows. Thank you for the follow up!
As a malignant melanoma survivor, I completely agree that sharing your experience with skin cancer is very helpful!! Not only does it show your vulnerability and trust in the people who support and follow you, it also encourages everyone who watches your video to get checked out regularly. Your videos may literally save someoneâs life!
I hope so! đđ
Hi Jen! I totally agree that sharing your story could save others! I myself was a surgical nurse and I had a patient with a cancer diagnosis and it prompted me to get my Pap smear that year.. and this saved me from a worser fate. Then a few years ago, I told this story to a babysitter and she got checked out and herself had something removed, saving her as well. It may seem that thereâs not a place for this in a beauty channel but I really think sometimes itâs like chatting with a friend. Thank you for your honesty and I have no doubt you will be fine. đ
I showed the cancer diagnosis video to my 10 yo daughter who has the same exact coloring as you ⊠and has had a few bad scalp/part line sunburns because she wouldnât wear a hat. She loves sunscreen and makeup ⊠but the part line was the problem. I think your video helped get through to her! Sheâs been much better about grabbing a hat while playing outside! †Good luck with the surgery. đđŒđ
Oh I'm so glad!! đđ»đđ» I just got the Supergoop powder sunscreen to put in my part. I always hated putting greasy stuff in my hair but this is so much easier!
Great to hear!
I wish my husband would be so easily influenced. Heâs ginger and bald on top and itâs a constant fight to get him to wear sunscreen and/or a hat.
I got my first skin check this year at age 32 because my childhood neighbor, who is only 39, was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma. He had the mole removed when he was a teenager - did not have Mohâs Surgery - and it ended up coming back without his knowledge and metastasized before it could be prevented. Truly terrible. Thank you for sharing. I never wouldâve gotten checked if it wasnât for my childhood neighbor. I have no doubt someone will get checked because of your story.
Wow, I canât believe people would criticize you for doing what amounts to a public service! Thank you for being brave enough to do the right thing. You are definitely in my thoughts & prayers, along with many, many other peopleâs. . Much love, Ruth xo
Were they criticizing though?
I love a brown liner, I feel like it looks more natural compared to black liner.
Same. Mine is from Shop Miss A.
Me too! I use the etude house brush liner in brown
Me too! Iâve been using the essence brown mechanical liner and its been great
Brown doesn't age the face like black liner does.
At the age of 57,I use brown liner. Just is more subtle for me đ
Jen I am sending you all of the good vibes for a full skin cancer recovery! Thanks for reminding us to use hats and sunscreen on our hairlines
Your mention of skin cancer has reminded me to have my derm double check my scalp next time. Thank you!!!!
I love that even though itâs not a dupe video per say u still give us a drugstore alternative for the expensive product. Thank u so much for always such a informative video!!
100% sames.
Yeah almost 150 k now.. congrats .đ hoping health issues are going smoothly , I went through it twice . Best of luck â€
Totally agree with you on the benefit mascara brush. In fact all mascaras from benefit have a fabulous brush which is why I love the fanned effect they give length, separation and volume. †edit. Try the magnet they're real mascara. Gives great length too.
I'm so glad you're talking about the importance of skin cancer screening! I work for dermatologists and have seen a lot of folks who waited too long and ended up with a scary diagnosis and had to go through grueling treatments.
Also, another awesome undereye corrector for those who like a creamy texture is the Lottie London one! I can't remember the exact name but it's something like Bright Bounce undereye corrector. And it's at Walmart and super affordable. I like to use it on no-makeup days and it does a really great job of looking natural but canceling out dark circles and hyperpigmentation.
Ooh thanks I love Lottie London's products! I'll have to check that out. :)
Oh the eyeshadows are stunning! They look so beautiful on you. The blush is so pretty. Oh so fun!!
I'm so, so very grateful that you're here !
I'm glad you're staying on top of your skin cancer. My dad had regular mole removals throughout his later days, and they always caught the bad ones in time. My SIL and her daughters are also prone to skin cancer, and get checked frequently.
I have been using brown eyeliner for my every day makeup. I think itâs more natural and flattering on me than black. Love the way it looks the Givenchy blush. I am tempted even when I donât need a new blush. đ
Me too. I read that it brings out the green in my eyes. Now my eye color pops. Who knew?
I think the Huda CC did a better job than Elf! Also I think it did the job of concealer too! For mature skin (like mine) fewer products is better so Huda will do both jobs for me! Thanks for the update!â€â€â€
Jen, you have literally saved lives by sharing your journey with skin cancer. Thank you so much ! I am praying for you that you are healed completely! I hear your son in the background practicing the clarinet! Joyful noise! How wonderful he is taking up a musical instrument! Love that PTR lip smoother! LA Girl duo chromes are in my basket for my next Ulta haul! Duo chromes are my favorite, even at my 71 yrs old! One reason I adore your channel, no age shaming here! I am so comfortable here, thank you Jen and community for making me feel so welcome! Sending you a big healing hug and â€ïž
I was a diehard liquid liner, until I started using gel eyeliner in the pot. I love how I can lightly smudge some along my eyelashes.
What a beauty ! And your work is priceless ! Tank you for the drugstore's alternatives
I played the clarinet - your son is sounding good! I really appreciated you sharing your skin cancer diagnosis. I hope everything is going well.
I have developed a blush addiction and that blush looks amazing! Might have to splurge on it! Great video as usual!
Wow the givenchy blush beautiful!! On my list!!
Those Givenchy blushes. Yes ! They are so pretty. I donât have loose powder blush. So itâs a win ! I love their loose powder as well. Iâm 62 and it doesnât settle in under eye lines. Love
I just newly discovered you. I wish you all the best with your health, and am sending positive thoughts.
Also, I looove the fact that you're 100% sponsorship-free. There are way too many sponsorships in the YT beauty community now. Your channel is refreshing! Will keep watching! đ
Thank you for talking about your experience and to remind people to get checked out đ€ Thank you for your honest beauty reviews đ
Thanks for a wonderful video, Jen. As someone who has very dry skin, I tend to shy away from any kind of powder blushes or bronzers. But the Givenchy blushes look stunning and I'm very tempted. If anyone with very dry skin has tried them, I'd love to know how they worked.
I love the LA girl shifty shadows!!
An evening upload from Jen is always welcomed!! đ„°
Jen, you look so naturally glowy and beautiful today! I LOVE the in-depth details of every product - how it feels, smells, looks, applies, compares to..... Thank you!
Thanks for all your great videos! And for sharing your story! Stay positive! â€
Great video Jen! I love how you do both new affordable and new high end products reviews together. Iâve been watching new product videos for the last couple of hours, and I saw nothing in your review that someone else did. Love the Peter Thomas Roth for your lipsâŠ.keep using it! It would be nice to see a creamy lipstick on top before splurging. Summer Fridays is my fave so far. Once again, I always love your videosâŠ.I donât always get to comment, but please knowâŠâŠIâm watchingâŁïž Love you, Kat
Jen been loving your channel and videos! Thank you for your honest thoughts and product recommendations â€â€
Thank you so much for reviewing the LA Girl shadows! I've been dying to try them. I saw they came out with liquid duochromes & those are getting bad reviews so I was afraid the powder ones would be bad also. As always, if something gets your stamp of approval, it goes into my cart lol. Excited to try them!
The Huda Beauty CC blurred your under eye better than the Elf. Sending blessings to you for a speedy recovery â€
Another excellent budget micro-tip eyeliner option is the Wet n Wild Breakup Proof Skinny Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. I LOVE it. Bought mine at Walmart, but also on Amazon for about $5.50. Sadly only in black. I really want them to make it in more colors!đ
I would have clicked anyways but you got my curiosity stirring with the product to avoid lol
Iâm so sorry about your cancer. I had thyroid cancer in 2016 then it came back in 2019 and metastatic to my lungs and in 2020 also found out I had a rare cancer called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. Iâve been in different forms of treatment since then. So good luck and many prayers to you and your family.
Lifting you up with prayers and blessings that all goes well with your surgery. Thank you for talking about this important topic to remind people how important it is to get checked out. You are a beautiful person and I love your channel.
This look is so glowing and serene, it suits your colouring particularly well!
â€â€â€â€â€
Hi Jen, I really appreciate your honest reviews! Thank you for another wonderful video! đ
As always thanks for sharing all the NEW...wishing you personally all the best and a speed recovery!
Hi Jen, thank you for all your hard work that you put into this video, I enjoy how you give us alternatives brands for the high end products /brands, that loose blushes look very interesting. Love Katherine xoxo
Sharing your story is truly a brave and important thing, especially if it saves even one life. Thank you
You sold me on the Peter Thomas Roth lip care, wow your lips look so good! I also like the Huda Beauty color corrector, very nice.
Sending you lots of positive thoughts and prayers†thank you for sharing! â€â€
That blush!! The glow is so flattering. The mascara looks like it built fast and nicely. â€
I thought you bumped the desk...lol. Everything definitely shook! You can def tell the mascara was gripping your lashes!
Jen, Great to see your video tonight! You made a great point about eyebrow pencils looking smudgy. I do know what you mean. Never considered a pen but Iâll give it a try. Always appreciate you! đ
I hope you don't take this the wrong way but your videos are so relaxing. It's almost like you have a librarian (in the best way possible) type of voice. I also love how quickly your subscriber count has been going up recently. You deserve it!! As for your cancer, I'm glad you're putting it out there. It could save lives. If someone doesn't like it, then they don't have to watch that video. Personally for me, I have an out of sight out of mind attitude towards my health that is awful and I need to change it like now. I have an 8 year old that got diagnosed with hepatoblastoma (liver cancer) at 3 and watching him go through that was unbearable. I think to myself that I'd never want him to see me like I saw him or worry about me like that, but it's better than not being here at all. I'm going to make that appointment to get that mass on my kidney checked out. Thank you. Sending my best! â€
Great video! Thank you for sharing your skin cancer diagnosis. I definitely think you have helped subscribers get checked. I would love to see you do a video on the âlatteâ look.
Another wonderful video. Thanks for sharing and for your input.
Another great video đ As a viewer of different youtube channels about beauty, I definitely see a greater purpose for sharing educational and/or cautionary stories related to health (also rather than everyday stories about birthdays, weddings etc.) â€ïž
I got such a chuckle each time i herd the clarinet!!!! So cute!
This look is one of my favorites - you look so fresh and gorgeous. The blush is so expensive but if thatâs how nice it looks, itâs worth it! Am excited about the new mascara. I loved the bad girl bang waterproof one but it did smudge and transfer giving raccoon eyes!
Another beautiful look and I appreciate you comments
I love the LA Girl shadows! Duo and multichrome shadows are having a moment. Love the blush on you.
The Hourglass skin tint looks really nice on you. I will try when I use up some of my others. So thanks! I also was very impressed with the Huda Color Corrector, definitely going to try! Great final look!
Looks beautiful! Good to know about the shifter shadows. I'll check those out at my Ulta. Thank you! Have a blessed day!
Also talking about good wishes being sent your way Iâm not religious but Iâm also a believer of collective bargaining!đđâ€â€
I too am so glad that you told us also. My BFF husband died from skin cancer and now I am watching a mole more closely too. The blush looks great on you skin and just no blending needed. It just works really well. I like the final results of your makeup Jen. You look great and thanks so much for the new products I did not know about. The great reviews are very helpful to me.â€â€â€â€đđđșđ
Oh Jen! Thank you as always for a wonderful post! I am going to buy the LA Girl shimmer shadows. I canât wait to try them. I wear glasses and have very little lid space, so I am always looking for something that will shine and have vibrant color. The blush is sensational. Iâll wait for my next splurge! đ Please keep us posted on your skin cancer recovery. Lots of love and prayers to you my friend. â€â€â€
So fun đžthank you Jen đž
Adding you to our prayer list! â€â€
Still sending prayer for you!đ loved the look! And love your videos! Thanks for showing us all you do, and giving us an affordable alternative! â€
Great video Jen â€
Wish u speedy recovery my dear ...love u so much â€â€
đâ€ïž thanks Jen!
I recently tried the catrice fake awake or something it's Incredible! Got it on Amazon..super affordable blends seamlessly and I don't even have to set it or go over with a concealer! If u haven't tried I highly recommend! â€
That sounds great! I'm adding to cart!
Mid-fortiesâŠ..peri menopause brain fog. Itâs such a thingâŠ.it drives me batty. đđ»
Yes!! It drives my family crazy too. The other day my son was like, "mom how come you never remember anything?" đđ€ŠđŒââïž
Jen,so very sorry to hear about your skin cancer scare! Scary to hear for sure.Sending prayers for you.đ
I am so glad u liked the LA Girl shadows! I now feel comfortable ordering them. I will absolutely be getting a Givenchy blush during the fall Sephora sale! U r rightâŠit looked gorgeous on ur skin!
Glad you are doing OK, girl â€
Because of you shearing about your experience I have booked an appointment for my dermatologists as I found a mull on my scalp as well. Probably nothing but better to check. Thank you for shearing đâ€ïž
I'm so glad to hear that!! Most of the time it's nothing but like you said it's better to be safe! â€ïž
I going to buy LA Girl eyeshadow as they look Devine and the green was shimmering blue/green, great for evening wear. Thanks for your thoughtful approach to makeup and I hope and pray that you have a successful battle with cancer. â€
Iâve been hesitant to try the LA Girl multichromes since most drugstore usually makes them so bad, definitely going to try them!!
Thank you for an interesting and useful video đ
I love your sound quality. I listen to CZcams as I work and I really appreciate good sound quality since I canât really watch.
OMGoodness I bought that peach Givenchy blush the second you showed it!!! I cannot wait until it gets here!!! Thanks Jen. â„â„â„â„
Enjoy it! It's amazing!
PS, you are almost to 150k subs!!!! Whoa!!! I remember when you hit 50K ⊠and 100k. So deserved!
Regarding the brown liner from Moira...they have a dual ended liner, gel pencil/pen, that works beautifully on my hooded eyes. It's the easiest pen liner I've used, I can actually draw it on with one swipe....and it's only $7.00. Moira is such an underrated brand!
I do have that one and it is awesome! It's not the super small tip but it still works well for me. đ„°
Thanks for mentioning Moira in your recent videos- I love all of the recommendations so far!!
I picked up the shade shifter eyeshadow in aura recently, so good! Going to go back today and get sunset.
Jen, I recently got a new cream bronzer I think youâll love! Weâre always looking for the same kind of bronzer color and I got this one a couple months back and have been wearing it nonstop! Itâs the Phase Zero Cream Bronzer in Tuscan Sun. Itâs the perfect color for fair to light, coon tone skin! It blends in really easily and never looks patchy at all. Dries down on its own without needing set and lasts all day! Iâve really been loving it! Makes me want to try more from the brand! Thought Iâd let you know since itâs so hard finding good bronzers that arenât too warm or orange looking!
I mixed in the Hourglass Soft Ambient foundation with the Veil tint. That looked great!
oh my gosh that loose givenchy blush is gorgeous. i love the idea of loose blush. i might have to get it đ
and so excited for the fan fest mascara; benefit doesnât make a bad mascara âš
and those la girl shadows are a need! đ
Take Jenâs message to heart. I was delinquent on mammograms since 2020 and I am now having breast cancer surgery Monday. Her message is important. You are not too busy to take care of you â€
I'm so sorry to hear that! Prayers for a speedy recovery! â€ïžđđ»
@@JenPhelps Thank you. My voice is small but your platform can change lives. Bravo for spreading important information to thousands world wide.
Jen, maybe use an eye primer, before you apply the essence liquid eyeshadows. They might apply better and have longer staying power. I love the shades you chose. I want to try the Maybelline eyeshadow tattoo studio liquid eyeshadows and the Milani ones. Those are next. đ
That thunder scared me even! Lol (I watch on my TV) I love the eyeshadow! I seem to have trouble with keeping mine from creasing. I don't know if it's the shadow or my oily lids.
LOL when I was editing I saw the camera shake! It really did shake the whole house, it sounded like a bomb went off. đł
Hearing the clarinet reminded me of when I played one myself in fifth grade, and when I practiced at home my dog would sit beside me and howl along. đ I guess he thought we were going to be a band. lol
Haha aww that's so cute!
Ohh l have to check out those LA Girl shadows! I've always wondered about those mascara wands so thanks for answering that đ
I jumped when you jumped from the thunder. I thought it was storming here listening to the thunder on the video. I like the brown eyeliner and the powder blush. đ
@JenPhelps Try the new Profusion mineral SPF 40 face primer. It's lightly tinted and blurs imperfections!
I love brown liner! I've started wearing it exclusively lately lol đđ also, I too, discovered brow pens and *never* looked back!
They eye shadow is stunning. What a shift it has to it. Hard to believe it's drugstore. Thanks, Jen. Blessings!
I hope Moira makes some loose blushes like the Givenchy. I think they could do a great job. Loved the end look in this video! â€
I donât have the Givenchy blush, but I used to collect Bare Minerals when they were mostly loose products. Iâve been challenging myself to use that stash rather than buying new products. They are so nice!
I absolutely love the bareminerals loose powder blushes!!
You are my fave makeup reviewer â€ïž
The milani conceal and perfect concealer is one of my favs!
Those L.A Girl eyeshadows đ I hope they come out with lighter shades... I got the Proud sunscreen a while ago but I haven't tried it yet, hope the scent doesn't bother me... thanx for another excellent video Jen, you're the best! đŻ... have a good one! hugzzz đđč
