Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time CZcamsr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. Every once in a while I expect there to be some duds... unfortunately it always seems to happen all at once rather than spreading out, haha. Oh well! 😂

Finally a CZcamsr that reads the ingredients list. I don't understand the hype about foundations which their first ingredient is alcohol denatured...that's why I never bought those foundations because I turn and read. Dry gal here!
Why can't I like your comment 1,000 times! I'm also seriously dry, and I never buy products with alcohol or fragrance!
Re fragrance, I bought an Origins foundation one time that had fragrance and wore it to a job interview. I broke out with eczema on my face from it, fortunately after the interview! And got the job! But I should have known better. I had the receipt and packaging and returned it for a full refund.
Cetyl/cetearyl alcohol are hydrating (as in Cetaphil), but denat. is awful.
I must say, Jen, that you filmed this Monday morning and it's already up on Monday evening...you are KILLING IT! Thank you!! I am LOVING your amazing, realistic, thoughtful, down to earth content! 😍

Thank you for your honesty about ELF and the negative changes at ELF. I still buy a few things from ELF, but the price increases and smaller product sizes made it so I moved away from them (almost completely!). Good video THX

I honestly think you’re doing the best and thorough reviews on makeup with swatches, applications, first impressions, price comparisons and checkins at the end of the day etc. I finish your videos with no questions in my mind about the products and that’s rare for me 😊

Thank you for saving my money on the Maybelline foundation! I had it in my Amazon cart till I watched this. Dry mature skin is not fun at times.
Same! I had it in my list of stuff I wanted to try when I first heard about it, almost got it the other day at the store, but I'm glad I waited! I have issues with some alcohol giving me a bad reaction so I'm definitely not getting this one!
I bought and tried the Maybelline foundation and it did not work well on me at all. I’m 56 …..I use the L’Oréal one and that one works well on me so I thought maybe the other one is better since it’s newer but nope 👎 thanks Jen for your honest opinions 🙌🏼

Girl that L'Oreal nude serum had me looking like a whole raisin by lunch. I could NOT believe it. Everyone on CZcams was losing their minds over it, I was thinking I was absolutely crazy. And my skin is an OIL SLICK. ABSOLUTELY NOTTT. 🙅♀️🙅♀️🙅♀️

I love it on my dry skin.
I’m super oily but any product with denatured alcohol high on the list causes my chin to peel like crazy!
Hi Jen. A tip for your nose that works for me got it from Zabrena:
Clear eyeshadow primer (I have UD's), let dry, then setting spray, let dry, then product, let dry, set with light dust of powder, end with light dust of setting spray. Stays all day and I'm oily in my T-zone. 🙂
L'Oreal are really not good at brow products. Have tested almost all of them. Brow gels/mascaras are not long lasting, formulas too thick or too thin, colours mostly pulling red undertone and pencils being too hard/waxy.
But they have many other very good products I love, especially the Infaillible line.

I completely agree...I've never liked L'oreal's eyebrow products either! Also thanks for the tip for the nose...I heard that a while ago but forgot about it! :)
So sad the Ride or Die lip balms have been discontinued. I loved so many of the shades. Yes they were hard to squeeze out of the tube but warming the tube in your hands made it so much easier to use. I'm going to miss the pigmentation

OMG, my lightbulb 💡 just went off. Being into my 50’s those ELF balms were so hard for me to squeeze out. I just realized to transfer them into a lil travel container!!! It’s perfect!!! Even if it ends up drying out soon, at least I can use it easier right now. They are super nice. I want to use them!

Dang it, Jen! I just ordered that Maybelline tint yesterday! I was just wondering earlier if it had alcohol in it like the Loreal one, but I told myself that Maybelline doesn't usually do that like l'oreal does. I should've looked up the ingredients before I ordered! I NEVER order a skincare product without looking up the ingredient deck. I should do the same thing with makeup
So helpful, as always, Jen! I had the same experience with the TruMatch serum foundation - within an hour, I looked like a mummy. I never made the connection between that and the alcohol - and I also couldn't figure out why everybody else seemed to love it!

Hi Jen! I also have a hard time getting foundation to stick to my nose. I have solved this problem by using a swipe of Tarte Shape Tape concealer over the foundation on my nose. Try it and see if it works for you too.

Hooboy, I had a couple of those shadow sticks in my cart. Not anymore! As soon as you said glitter I noped out. Does the Sephora eye crayons have glitter?

Only a few of the Sephora shades have glitter but on the website it shows which ones are glitters and which colors are just shimmer, so it makes it easy to avoid those. :)

You know I hated the ride or die lip balm at first because they were hard to squeeze out of the tube and they were so thick, but I started using mine as an overnight lip mask and they’re fantastic for that. Now I’m mad I didn’t buy more before they discontinued them. 😩
They might wind up in dollar tree. They get a lot of discontinued makeup.
Burt's Bees have great lip balms in similar packaging to the Ride or Die balms. The colors are similar too!
I bought some a while ago in Marshall’s/TJMaxx. They might show up there.
I stocked up at CVS when I saw them recently - you may have some luck there!

Hi Jen...I have the same unpopular opinion about the L'Oréal serum foundation...at first my skin looked so beautiful but just moments later it was awful and so dry! I have dry skin to start so I don't need anything else to dry it even more 😳

It's really unfortunate that L'Oreal is putting alcohol in their new foundations. Especially the serum foundation, which is obviously aimed at those of us with dry skin. Well, there are other brands who are happy to take my money!
I also hated the L'Oreal! Every line was accentuated!
I agree with your opinion of the Loreal tinted serum. It made my skin so so dry.
I had no idea about the new lip balms from elf replacing the other one. I loved the previous one so I picked up backups because they were so pigmented and creamy, the new one I tried in the scent vanilla frosting and there were hard bits in mine so I’m not trying anymore of them.

I've been loving the Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel! I've accidentally slept in it, and it actually lasts. I usually prefer a brow pencil and clear brow gel like you said, but I'm always in a rush these days. So a tinted brow gel works for those days

I was eying the Maybelline Color Tattoo Crayons but after seeing this video, it will be a pass because my 55 year old eyelids don't need me tugging on them. I will stick with the Sephora crayons and check out the Milani ones.

Jen, I love your channel, your reviews and topics. As of yesterday, I committed to no makeup purchases until at least Sept. At that point I will reevaluate and probably extend til Dec. If I am really honest, I could probably do a no-buy year and be ok!, When I searched my stash and was really objective, I’m not sure I can use it all. Then after a year, it should be tossed. This is a HUGE experiment for me. I will definitely continue to watch as I get such good ideas how to use what I have. I hope that this forces me to use many products that I haven’t even opened!! Thanks for all of your great reviews and wonderful information.
I believe Jen did a video on how long products should be kept before disposing of it. It may not be as cut and dried as one would think, especially for powder products. The exception is mascara, which according to the FDA, should be tossed after 2 to 4 months of use.
Of course, you should use your own judgement YMMV.
I think I will skip the Maybelline serum foundation.Even though my skin is oily/ combo, I still have dry patches.Thank you for an insightful video❤

Hi Jen, amazing video, great purchase help ❤ ! I got the Maybelline Tint from Amazon today. First of all, I found 120 darker than 120 usually is, at least in the Superstay foundation and powder. I pitted it against the Revlon Illuminance (half face each), I'm curious to see what my face looks like tonight!
I agree! It is a little bit darker! I definitely like the Revlon better on me. :)
I loved the Elf Ride or Die balm formula, but hated how hard it was to get out of the tube. I ultimately gave them to my nieces. I will check out the new ones!
That L’Oréal serum foundation made me break out sooooo bad. I also hated how it looked after a few hours!
Have U tried the NYX Thick It Stick It?? If so, would U recommend it 4 some1 that's NEVER done their brows B4??
The NYX Thick It Stick It brow gel has a good formula but the brush on it is huge! It’s way too big for someone who is just starting to do their brows. I’ve been doing mine for a long time and I still can’t use that because of the big brush on it. If you want to use a good brow gel I would suggest the Elf Wow Brow. That has a great formula, but a teeny tiny little brush so it’s really easy to use 😊
I completely agree with Nicole! The Thick It Stick It is basically like a colored version of NYX brow glue...it's a little sticky and the brush is really big and hard to control. I also love the Elf Wow Brow or the Essence Give Me Brow which is similar.

Hey Jen! I love the green & coral look you went for today, but I have to wonder...did you use any kind of primer on your face or eyelids? What about a sunscreen? I'm sure either or both would really change the appearance of such sheerness. And I wonder how the Revolution blush sticks compare to Flower Beauty or Pixi products? Keep that smooth thing going as long as you can; the downhill slide is precipitous...Thanks for the video!
Hi Cathy! No I didn't use anything under the foundation and I usually don't when I'm doing reviews because I don't want anything to change how the product performs on the skin. Otherwise, viewers may not get the same result if they don't use the same primer/sunscreen or whatever I put under it.

I have the Revolution blush bombs. I love them! I got the Juvias place ones too (a couple) and I like them but they are so easy to overdo.

Ooh you must be so excited! My aunt and uncle just got back from Hawaii and they had such a great time! I do think this formula is long lasting, but a tubing mascara would probably hold up even better...those are my go-to formulas in the heat/humidity.

I am going to try the maybelline color tattoo eyeshadow stick. I think blending it out with a beauty blender sponge or your finger may give better results.. We shall see!
I thought I was the ONLY person on planet earth who didn't like the L'oreal Foundation! I tried it because of all the hype and didn't like it at all. Glad to know about the Maybelline and won't waste my money on that one either. You and I have similar skin type so I always appreciate your thoughts on these products.
I’ve come to the conclusion I really really don’t like eyeshadow sticks. I have 3 and really don’t like any of them. None of the ones I have, or seen on video, blend very well, they always look patchy, and most of them dry way too fast. The only way I use the ones I have is on my bottom water line, or on my bottom lash. But, I do love your videos! 😊

My makeup Revolution stick blushes are definitely my favourite cream blush formula it looks great when I am dry and when I am oily and they have been around for a long time.
Definitely people should watch “The Pampered Wolf’s” comparison video of this Maybelline foundation and the L’Oréal.
I didn't realize that the Maybelline Skin Tint had the denatured alcohol, that might irritate my skin. I have been using the Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Gel for the last 2 weeks, and I really like it, it took me a bit to get used to applying it less thick than it comes out on the brush. It does last really well too, I was outside sweating, and it lasted the few hours I was out without moving, or smudging. For the Maybelline shadow stick, I just apply it to my lid and then blend with my ring finger and didn't have a struggle, but it doesn't last as long as the Milani ones, which are much better.
Have you tried any new Beauty Pie stuff? The cream blush and bronzer look interesting. And the new tubing mascara. I'm also wanting to try the youthbomb line.
Jen, THANK YOU! I watched one of your videos and you talked about using nyx glitter glue for all your shimmer shades. I was getting so frustrated with fallout ruining my makeup. I bought the glue and it has been a game changer for me!!

Hey Jen. I know you have mentioned the redness around your nose many times. My son had a similar appearance to his, and our dr said it was a fungal infection. After a few days of antifungal cream, no more redness. Just wanted to share that in case you want to try our remedy.
Wow that's so interesting! Mine isn't like that all time, it seems like it's hormonal. Whenever I get hot flashes it gets red but other times it's not. 🥰❤️

The blush bomb is one of my fav blushes in my collection, I own a lot of cream blushes. The formula is better than some of my higher end blushes. ❤❤❤
Love all your amazing and honest tips on products.Hardest thing for me with pale blonde brows was brow gel.Finally found my 2 favourites.Mac brow gel in the shade Fling which lasts me 5 months or more and the other is NYX brow gel in chocolate and I order 2 every 4 months from Amazon at $8.99 each!👍

Hi Jen, thanks for the video! This is the kind of content I subscribe to you for. And kudos for calling out the alcohol in the Maybelline and L'Oreal skin tints! You go, girl!
L'Oreal has started putting alcohol in their new foundations in the last few years, and I'm very disappointed with them over that. They used to sell several dependable foundations for normal to dry skin that didn't contain alcohol, but they discontinued them . The exception (as a new product) is the Age Perfect balm.
Also, since you like it, I'm going to try the Maybelline brow tint. I don't like to spend a lot of time putting on my brows; I just want to add some color and hold them in place.
Ugh I wish they would stop putting the alcohol in everything...from what I understand it helps to thin out the formula but it's so drying. Other brands can make a thin serum foundation without it so I know it can be done.
Hi Jen I love the way your make up looks and I’m so glad you tried the green I love it when you do green or pink eye shadows i did yellow shadow today with some dark green and it looked not bad, your face does not look dry it looked pretty good to me i need to get me that mascara as I don’t like to put on fake lashes they are just not my thing I feel like a clown in them 😂

Thanks for some great information! I will try the Revolution blush stick for sure. Also, wanted to let you know that I tried the Moira powder foundation that you recommended in a previous video. I have never found a powdered foundation that I liked. However, the Moira foundation is great. Just like you said, it sinks into the skin and is not really visible. I am 64 and although it will not replace my favorite liquid foundation, I will be using the powder on regular basis,

I was going to say Loreal owns Maybelline, but you said it lol. My dropper kept falling off the Loreal product and making a mess so I tossed it. I may try this one, but I love my Loreal infallible foundation the best, and I have more than 25 foundations. Love your channel

Also, as I'm watching the video I see you reviewing the eyeshadow sticks.....I don't know if you have reviewed them but I bought a set of ELF sticks and I hate them. They are really pretty colors but no color comes off, even when I try putting them on my hand.
