I bet Margaery was expecting something more akin to what happened at the Red Wedding- archers and assassins hidden at every corner, disguised and waiting to pounce. Margaery assumed that Cersei was going to lean on tactics from Tywin and Walder Frey's playbook, and she was only half right.
Cersei was indeed being unoriginal, but she was borrowing from Aerys' playbook, not Tywin's.
And thinking back to earlier seasons, this wildfire scene certainly evokes the "power is power" quote that Cersei earlier told Littlefinger.

i wonder what would of happened if cersei hadnt done anything, margaery clearly had a plan of some sort when she decided to act as if she "joined" the faith, and send olenna home, also convincing tommen to join as well and convincing the tyrel and lannister army that they didnt need their help. she must of had some end goal where she destroys the faith completely for all that they did (maybe with out as much bloodshed) but i guess now we'll never know.

Cersei is what Machiavelli calls a “prince through crime.” No one is willing to oppose her (at least for the moment) after she does something so vicious, but they all hate her. She has power, but not the respect that should come with it. There’s no way for Cersei to rehabilitate herself and rule effectively; if she survived, she’ll would have to keep upping the violence level in order to remain in control.
This is also why burning down Kings Landing is Dany’s fatal mistake; so long as she defeats Cersei, she’s the liberator that she envisions herself as. Destroy the city and the people know that they’ve just traded one monster for another.

I'm hoping we'll see some old and new buildings pop up in the intro for next season - two buildings specifically:
-Dragonstone: Given it's the old ancestral seat of the Targaryens, I think it's a guarantee we'll see this location pop up again. Dany will want and need to establish a base there.
-Casterly Rock: With Kevin Lannister's death (the acting Lord), that leaves Jaime as the heir. And who knows who is running Casterly Rock in the Lannister's stead. Dany is going to *need* to take over the Lannister seat, and she has all the tools needed in order to beat the infamously strong Lannister army: Dragons, Dorthraki, and Tyrion.
It would be also really nice to see what Highgarden looks like. I think the first two are more likely to appear next season over Highgarden, but I've seen some gorgeous illustrations making Highgarden look like a palace that I'd want to move into in a hot second. XD
