      Wow me too I have an 89 silverado. I already fixed the head gaskets. No more oil leak. But lol every other thing tho weird electrical issues. Like my speed Guage and miles gage only work when they want haha. I've replaced my back right bulb like 3 or 4 times only had truck like a year in 4 months. My wipers only work good on high, (I thought it was the blinker switch on the steering culum.

    Of the problems you cited, I have only had to deal with the doors pins and bushings. But I have had a few other issues such as intake manifold gaskets that failed, causing an intermittent vacuum leak. Gaskets replaced at 240,000 miles in my 1994 Sierra K1500. I now have 270,000 on my pickup, and it still runs well. Solid and reliable.

      NOPE. In 2005, (I was just retiring at GM) I saw a farmer friend's then future son-in-law's 2001 Silverado 1500 in my friend's driveway. That 2001's rear bumper had more rust showing than the rear bumper on my '97 K1500 GMC SLE----Being a GM worker, that pissed me off---FACT...

    • @69Hurst442
      @69Hurst442 Před 3 lety +1

      @@bobhoffman5581 So what happened Bob? Did GM start seeing dollar signs ( for their board of directors ) and decided to screw the employees and customers by cost cutting for the almighty buck? No more bailouts if they go bankrupt. They created the mess, let them clean it up instead of making the taxpayers do it for them. I’m not just talking about GM, but every car company in the world. I’d like to see what would happen if no one bought a car or have their car serviced for a year at a dealership. But that’s just a pipe dream. The dealers would find a way to live high on the hog by charging the taxpayers for their high lifestyles they’ve grown accustomed to. You can’t win. One could try I suppose, but the lawyers would bankrupt that consumer so fast that the person wouldn’t even have time to blink their eyes.

    93 K1500 ext cab here...
    I will eventually deal with the tail lights and my wiper motor/board.
    Pulled engine months ago and sent short block to machine shop. They bored it 0.020 over and put flat top pistons in it. Block, crank, and con rods are the only original parts now.
    906 iron vortecs, edelbrock dual plane intake, Comp cams 212/218 & .450 lift flat tappet, custom throttle body bored to 46mm w/ 18lb regulator spring by SPRPerformance, all dialed in by Brian @ TBIChips with a solid chip tune.
    My machinists recommended an oil cooler delete for my setup, so that's what I did. Large/short filter screws onto block with small threaded adapter (sits about 1" away from front driveshaft).
    Those factory oil cooler lines were why the under and driver's side of my engine bay was caked in oil and dirt.

    1993 C1500.
    Wiper motor control: Intermittent interruptions with wiping. I disassembled the motor/controller board housing and discovered numerous broken solder paths on the circuit board. The repair was zero cost and zero parts. I just resoldered the broken electrical paths. Jumper wire may be necessary to add to the mix depending on how bad.
    Body grounds: Yep. Front passenger body-to-frame and frame-to-engine replaced on passenger side engine bay. A year later I reworked the fuel filler neck grounding strap.

    I don’t know if it’s just me or it’s very common issue but I just sold my old work truck last week that was a 95 extended cab that would slowly leak power steering fluid throughout the year. I then bought a 94 single cab project earlier this year to ls swap it that also leaks power steering fluid. And now I just bought a really rare 98 k1500 crew cab last month that leaks puddles of power steering fluid when I make I turns. Swapping the power steering hoses on these trucks would fix it for me but having 3 trucks with the same exact issue couldn’t be a coincidence right?

I have driven the truck with the misfire since 2013 and it drives fine at highway speeds just missfires at idle stuff I have changed to the truck are spark plugs, the wires, whole distributor, motor mounts and transmission mount, my rear differential took a shit at 140k Miles too, fuel filter change with injector cleaner and a tbi rebuild, one thing I did notice is that my thermostat is a 160f and oe is 190 I believe throw out any ideas I really want to fix this truck it's in perfect condition z71 150k miles summit white with the burgundy interior and it has a sunroof

      I have a '89 K 1500 and it had the SAME problem this is how I fixed it = Change the - Engine Temperature Control Unit - it cost 16 dollars - it sends messages to computer about temp , if unit is bad it will send wrong numbers to the computer and then the computer will send the wrong settings to the throttle body injectors and your motor will run either too rich or too lean - And that my friend is your vibration . And it's a simple fix. the other plus to this is you will get better millage when fixed. Good Luck Rick Out.

      I had a 94 throttle body fuel injected 2Dr Blazer and if I remember correctly that slight misfire is normal if it’s as slight as I think 🤔 yours is if it’s not throwing codes with the old school code let thing and u hit it with the timing light 💡 and everything is perfect 👌 I believe your all good sir. I now have a 98 2Dr Tahoe same truck 🛻 just as u know it’s Vortec fuel injected but I prefer the TBI easier to fix less electrical B.S. and in my opinion the TBI 350 block set up is more reliable so kudos to you sir if I could I would switch back to TBI or straight carb any day those things are bullet proof literally. The only reason they changed was for the EPA and to be more competitive in the MPG aspect of marketing but more so I believe the EPA other than that the 350 block is one of the greatest inventions known to man.
