My rubbers are going... spray the ball joint, tie rod, control arm and leaf spring rubbers to avoid costly repair.. and grease the nipples...
Guy I got my from never changed differential fluid. When I opened the cover about a handful came out, rest must have leaked out.. this was at 275000 km. Top off diff fluid right away.. or take off cover and change gasket and clean magnet.. just make sure fill bolt comes out first..
Paint exhaust with high heat paint to avoid costly replace..
My cat was cloged by 300000 km.. I now know this was causing serious loss of fuel economy.. get replacement cat from Amazon and clamps and replace it at some point..
Paint frame yearly touch up with tremclad rust paint... power wash off salt during winter to avoid body falling apart..
A few new parts.. starter, alternator, better battery, water pump, belt pulley, new fuel pump... and these trucks run great. .. ignition coil and wires..
Paint all limes underneath to prevent rusting away...
Mine still runs like a champ.. parts are cheaper.... added timbren suspension upgrade as well..
With the price of new trucks these are best value right now.
I used to own the 3500 gas long bed.. feel stupid for selling it. Right now just 1500 short bed..
Consider looking for 2500 or 3500 gas, gmc or Chevy obviously... but the 1500 c or k still good trucks depending on your payload needs..
Blacked out tail lights, lift kits, fender flares, etc, there is a lot of options to make these look awesome.. unless you can afford lower km tundra these are your best option..

    My favourite generation chevy truck!
I think 95 is the best year for these, you can retain the TBI engines with an updated interior/exterior. Nowadays the Throttle body injected engines are regarded as too low in power (a valid opinion) but, for my needs the 350 TBI was enough and the reliability was excellent. 360K when it was sold and ran amazingly well. No oil leaks, nothing was rebuilt, no knocking, no misfires, no oil consumption until well over 300K miles. Hard to break a good size 8 with 200 horsepower.
One of my favourite body style trucks for sure. A bunch of them are ragged out unfortunately. This one looks great though! Cool video guys, nice to see Andre and Mr. Truck. Love the chemistry between these 2 presenters in particular.

I’ve always been partial to the older interior style, just something about the blockier styling makes my lizard brain happy. I agree on the rest though, it’s hard to beat a good, solid truck. And you’re especially spot-on with the lack of power, even my ‘94 Suburban 454 has a tough time keeping up with anything remotely modern, but I can rest easy knowing that the thing will happily go far, far beyond the 150k it has now- so long as I take care of it, anyhow.

I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 with the 350 Vortec Engine, dual A/C unit and heavy duty towing package. It is my favorite vehicle of all times. It runs beautifully, handles perfectly, muscles through mud, snow and ice, and tows like a diesel. It has leather interior, an aftermarket DVD player for the kids, and plenty of storage space. For the most part I consider it too good to even use except when absolutely necessary, so it has only 66,000 miles on it…..and it should last forever. It is completely reliable, comfortable, sturdy and scrupulously maintained. I bought it new, paid it off years ago, and wouldn’t sell it for all the money in the world. I have owned multiple chevy small block 8 cylinder engines, including a 283, a 305, two 327’s, and two 350’s, and they were all the best engines I ever owned….the 350’s having the most grunt, and the 327’s being the most badass. My 305 was rebuilt at 290,000 miles and had so little cylinder wear that an overbore was not even needed. I re-ringed the standard pistons and it is still powering my 1985 Firebird today. I love 4 cylinder Honda and Toyota engines, but nobody builds a better 8 cylinder than Chevy.

The 350 in this series became a great towing motor!! They were not the greatest ranch truck when the use was purely off-road. The front end was way too light. I was switching over from GM to Ford by this time. I would definitely take the GM 305 over the Ford 302 though. It wasn’t the best era for trucks, especially for heavy use. This was the time a 3/4 ton was a worthwhile upgrade. 1/2 tons today are so capable it’s almost best to go to the 1 ton vs 3/4 ton if you need a HD truck.
I know Tommy wants this truck. If he gets it I may give him back his man card I removed for him using the word “trucklet”!!! HAHHH!
