    listen to him as long as you can because there will come a time when there will be no more. You have your recordings and your memories and you still have Brian.

    His body of work deserves better respect than many of the comments here show. I saw him in Melbourne earlier in the tour and his performance was perfect. It was a long tour and by the time he got to Perth, he would have been feeling it.

    Nice that Alan got to go on this tour. Don't feel bad for Brian. Bad as he might look and sound, he's in the best place he's ever been in his life now, with a loving wife and family, and a tremendous band. We have to remember he's now 74 years old. I only hope he's still enjoying touring and not doing it out of a sense of obligation to support everyone; something that nearly killed him 50 years ago.

    Give Brian one week rest, eat right and very moderate exercise and watch how great he would sound
    You can't be on your A game every day

      At this point, he's like Bob Hope at age 95, when they had to walk him onstage for yet another TV "special". He should've hung it a lot sooner.

      @AlexDeLarge1 Před 8 lety +1

      It's just his stagefright. His voice is quite in shape, but his anxiety is so horrible that it makes it quiver and waver often. When I saw the Beach Boys with Brian in 2012, it was an excellent show, but Brian seemed very anxious. I took some really closely zoomed in photos of him and he has that "black holes in the sky" look most of the time.

    • @kellymarshall8878
      @kellymarshall8878 Před 7 lety +1

      Brian may have liked touring with Mike. Word is he wanted the reunion to con continue. Mike is an asshole, but he has always been comfortable being the front man. With Mike on stage, Brian can just focus on the music.

    • @AlexDeLarge1
      @AlexDeLarge1 Před 7 lety

      Kelly Marshall
      I don't know about that. When I saw them all together in Berkeley in 2012, Brian seemed pretty out there. It seems like he has some trouble focusing on the music most of the time in general. Definitely part of his illness though, not Mike. Mike didn't seem like a big douchebag that night. Other than when they started doing Be True to Your School, and he did his WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN thing.

    • @kellymarshall8878
      @kellymarshall8878 Před 7 lety +2

      What I mean is that I don't think Brian likes being the lead singer/attraction on stage. He has always hated touring. Reports from the Reunion Tour were that Brian liked playing with Mike. Mike has always been the emcee with his corny jokes (like the stupid bit about women in uniform before "Be True to Your School). If/When Brian spaces out, it isn't as big of a deal at a Beach Boys show with Mike, Al, and Bruce versus a Brian Wilson concert.

    God Bless Brian. He's ready to retire and he's earned it in spades. A true genius, with a massive legacy. So wonderful to see he's still out there plugging, but he needs rest. I heard recently he's announced his retirement after the current tour. It's time.

      He's scheduled to be in norcal in December 2018. I've never seen him or the Beach Boys live. I'd like to go, and not to hear him but to be in the same room as the author of all that great music.

    Brian and Al are both 73 years old. Al still sounds great! Brian, not so much. He has had a difficult time with life, that's for sure. If they are out there because they want to be then, so be it. I just hope that the need for money isn't forcing them to perform.

      RitaAnne Doubt Brian will go on tour much longer! Voice and memory are both slipping! But oh what a music genius he was! He was the driving force behind my favorite singing group ever! The Beach Boys music will never die and he wrote almost all of it! l'm 78 and still love their great sound and listen to them a lot! Brian, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of terrific songs!!

    I hope that Brian isn't being pressured to tour this much. If he enjoys being up there, then great... but I know that he hasn't liked touring much in the past.

    • @AlexDeLarge1
      @AlexDeLarge1 Před 8 lety +3

      He loves it, he just has bad anxiety. I don't know if you've ever sang lead on stage in front of a thousand or so people, but it is pretty frightening, especially when you've gone through some shit in your life and have lots of pent-up anxiety. I've done it multiple times when I was a kid, and coming from a psychologically abusive and unhealthy family myself, stagefright definitely messes with your vocal range. It can cause the muscles in your throat to tighten and drastically shrink how high you can go, or change the consistency of your voice.

    • @jaggass
      @jaggass Před 7 lety

      Brian gets really nervous before shows so probably explains why he sometimes sounds off when singing. Anxiety sends your body into overload.
