Recorded at the Beach Boys historic concert at Knebworth House on June 21st 1980. It proved to be the last time that the original Beach Boys (Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, and Alan Jardine) would appear together on a UK stage.
The Beach Boys are one of the most successful groups of all time clocking up 28 UK Top 40 singles and numerous hit albums, with ‘Pet Sounds’ being generally regarded as one of the all-time great albums and “Good Vibrations” being voted the best single ever released in Mojo magazine's poll.
The ‘Good Timin’: Live At Knebworth, England 1980’ album includes virtually all The Beach Boys’ classics such as “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Sloop John B,” “Lady Lynda,” “I Get Around,” “Barbara Ann,” “Wouldn't It Be Nice,” “Surf...”

The most beautiful song Brian Wilson ever wrote and Carl Wilson ever sung. What a gorgeous voice he had....will always miss him.
One of the best songs for sure. The arrangement is exceptional. I would guess that Wilson did that as well. He was a musical genius.
"I can hear Music", was Carl at his best. That was his best work. As good as this song is, he did even better in "I can hear Music". Check it out and judge for yourselves. It's on Utube done in 1969.

When they do a tribute to Carl during concerts they use this performance both for Carl’s vocals (the other vocal parts are done live) and they also use it on the video display when Carl was on camera (for the parts of the video where Carl is not on camera they do a photo montage with many old pictures of Carl and the others).

There's something very Bachian about this song. Those inversions and the tension with that diminished chord in the verse. Johann and Brian know well how to tug at the heart strings. Works every time.
The Wilson Brothers are awesome!!! Brian's creativity and knack for writing great songs, Carl's angelic voice, and Denny's ability to rock out and underrated singing ability. These boys are huge in music history.

+My Labradors Mike Love has this thing I hate: SOME people who have never abused drugs or alcohol, cannot empathize with the struggle of addiction. They act very judgemental and superior, because they just don't get it. They think it's an intelligence issue, when it is SO not! Some of the smartest people _in the world_ have become addicts.
Brian, Carl, and Dennis all struggled with addiction, and it took two of them away from us (Carl's cigarette habit; Dennis's alcoholism). People like Mike Love seem to have this shitty attitude of "They were self-destructive anyway, so why should I care if they die?" [not actual quote.]
Yet Mike seems addicted to fame, wealth, expensive tastes, marriages, and of course, the fucking meditation. (Yeah, Mike, we get it: You're a very spiritual dude. Or, at least, you enjoy spending time alone in your own brain. Whatever.) If he can't understand how the Wilson brothers have suffered, he needs to take a good, hard look at himself!
I don't know; maybe he does empathize with them. He _says_ he does. But he sure doesn't act like it.

Then in Love and Mercy they have him and Brian have a real heart to heart about how great the album could be outside the studio during the middle of the night during a break.
Would love to know what the real truth is. Did Mike really get behind the idea of the album or did he really think it was destined to be a colossal failure.

Carl and Brian created magic together when Carl was alive. The Beach Boys was the first concert I ever attended when I was about ten of about two thousand concerts so far, I am now forty-six. For some reason even though I was only ten, I seem to remember #CarlWilson singing. Saw them at a Highschool football stadium in Bridgeport, CT during the early eighties I think, the show could have been in the late seventies, but that would make me younger than ten. Either way RIP Carl. Great voice!
