i dont even have a sony tv, but i can't stop watching these video, they're so well made and give such a good flow of correct informations that its a delight to watch, not to mention the amount of key words that i've managed to learn across the years. Thank you for everything you do Vincent. I was looking for a new TV a few weeks ago, and your recent videos made me lean towards the A90J. I love the TV. Since getting the TV, I discovered that sitting 6 feet from it while watching, resulted in a much better viewing experience compared to viewing at a distance of 12 feet. I don't think most people realize what a difference this makes when watching a 4K TV. I'd love to see you make a video describing the difference between viewing a 65 inch TV from 6 feet as opposed to 12 feet or more (which I believe most people do), and the best settings to use for each viewing distance. Keep up the great work.

I wanted the A90J but couldn’t get over the $1100 savings with the LG G1. I love the XR chip but $1100!?!?
I don't think you will have much at Black Friday. My A90J took a bit over four months to arrive, as in I ordered it late May and only got it a month ago.
Can confirm this was my biggest problem with my A90J the 120HZ HDR issue it now looks flawless after the update only thing missing now is VRR
Not even close imo! If you’re gaming still go for LG, but if you’re just going to watch movies and shows then by all means go Sony.

If your main focus is gaming, LG OLED is the better choice.
If your main focus is movies, Sony OLED is the better choice.
$1,100 may be a lot of money to some people but you should also keep in mind that it's a one-time fee.
Also, your enjoyment of any product or service should be based on the experience that it provides instead of how much you paid for it.
P.s. LG has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports AND can run 4K 120Hz with Dolby Vision simultaneously unlike Sony which uses garbage MediaTek chips and they only provide 2 HDMI 2.1 ports. HILARIOUS! 😂

Vincent, you mentioned that one of the recent Sony firmware updates messed up 23.976 playback. Is this firmware safe to install on an A90J in that regard?

Awesome. Thanks for the info and cool on Sony for update. 4k 120Hz HDR banding was a deal breaker before, so glad it's fixed.
On your original video you gave the clicks to optimize the TV's own tone mapping. So does the update really turn off the TVs tone mapping, or is it still double mapping?
Can anyone clarify if the Sony A84J has the same panel as the Sony A80J?
I read in a forum that the A84J has the rich color enhancement because of its inferior panel.
Are there any other differences except of the microphone.

I have an x900h. When I stream from my laptop and connect to the TV using hdmi, the stream looks like it lagging almost? (The stream plays flawlessly on the laptop). Would that be a cable issue?

Hi Vincent, could you address using PS5 on low end tv with HDMI 2.0 and HDR, like Samsung RU7400. Should we disable HDR and go with SDR in the PS5 settings, to get better picture quality?
Released also on my x90j and can confirm 4k 120 HDR banding is gone. Tested on wrc9 , it was catastrophic before, now perfect 😀

Hi Vincent, I have a question regarding the difference between the A80J and the A83J/A84J. The latter ones have an extra option called "Rich Color Enhancer". I am wondering if this option is worth it since the price of these televisions are higher than the A80J. Thanks.
the rich color enhancer is only used for vivid mode. but as you already know is the color accuracy of vivid mode really bad. So you wont use it most of the times. the a83j and a84j also have an built in mic on the tv. so you dont need the tv remote for voice commandos

1.Do i have when playing PS5 games in 120 fps mode,in external inputs to move from enhanced dolby vision to only enhance?
2.On PS5,when i play youtube picture is so overblown,my external inputs is on enhanced only.Why is this happen?

The latest LG CX software update prompted the same Adjust HDR messages when starting up a PS5 too.

Thanks Vincent! Quick question, do you know how to get the TV to calibrate auto HDR after you've changed the settings manually? I want to swap between the HDR settings, but after I made manual adjustments I can't figure out how to turn on the auto HDR tone mapping again.
Also wondering this for my X90J, only thing I can think of is if you could find a way to do the initial ps5 setup again but don’t think you can do it without resetting everything

Are you able to take a look at the Hisense U9G if you can. I think it's the only other mini led TV in the UK from a brand apart from Samsung and LG and they claim somewhere between 2000~3000 nits with 1280 dimming zones with all the hdmi 2.1 features and a price around £2500 for 75 inches. Where any equipment connected via hdmi is not playing 4k uhd (does not affect games). Several topics on Reddit, AVforums, AVSforum talking about the problem and lg refuses to give any solution. tks

Is this firmware update slowly rolling out? I just got my A80J put up yesterday and it's not able to update yet.
I noticed the improvement with banding at 120hz right away. I was not expecting Sony to fix this so that was a bonus. I just hope the vrr update stays in 120hz unlike last years tv that drop to 60hz.

@@TheGusBus1989 the 900h was a different issue. At 120hz there was a loss of resolution. I don’t think this has changed.

6:00 am I mistaken or are these mislabeled? On the left he ignored the ps5 adjustment tool and set them all the way down and on the right he followed the calibration tool properly by making the symbol "barely visible".
So it looks like you shouldn't ignore the manufacturer.
i have a80j and its not connecting 4k 120 hz with asus rog strix rtx 3080. Does it not support yet? i have fiber hdmi 2.1 cable.

Hey Vincent, I just bought an A80J and while I love it for movie watching and streaming high resolution content, the native home menu and ps5 menu look dull/ faded. It seems like the colors and brightness is lacking even with the peak luminance setting on high and brightness on max. Is this something that can be fixed without using Vivid mode?
Sounds like your eyes need time to adjust to a natural color palate.

HdTV test Vincent I currently have a 2014 panasonic 50ax802b TV led TV and would like to get something newer at some point are there any led tvs that would have better picture quality than my current panasonic 50ax802b my dad has the dx900 Panasonic and its an awsome TV for led would need something that's 50 inch to 55 max that would have better picture quality than my panasonic 50ax802b or come close if not better than the dx900 I've seen many comparison videos on LEDs vs OLED and I'm still not convinced I prefer them yet as most off the time LEDs can look better at some points what's your thoughts on this are panasonic and Sony the most natural looking picture quality tvs because from what I've seen they seem to be the best stuck for choice in what tv to go for also if gonna upgraded I woldmt mind something witha little better motion flow

you go to where you can barely see it, just like the PS5 tells you to do, but then you go one click past it to where you can't see it. That puts you at the maximum for your tv. He went over it in the "How to optimize your HDR setting on PS5" video

How do you get your ps5 console to adjust settings by itself again after you done it once? On my x90j it adjusted to 19/19/2, after which i reverted it back to my favorite of 16/16/0.
If I want the console to adjust it again what should I do? If i go to hdr settings i don’t get the popup anymore that the console adjusted it by itself.
For the best results, you should initiate the ps5 again. Once the console is as new, the Sony tv will use the hdr mapping again
@@jeroenvanderwerff8083 I will definately not do that… i was just curious to double check my counting that it was indeed 19/19/2, but i won’t delete all my console data for this, i still prefer 16/16/0 and manually switching between brightness preffered and gradation prefered depending on time of the day and room brightness. This is what I found to be the best settings for x90j in case anyone else wonders. (Tv settings are default with local diming to high)

It all depends on your room conditions. Bright room get x95j. Dark room get the c1.
I have a A80J and the picture quality on my ps5 is absolutely amazing! Playing Spider-Man on it is absolutely the best! I recommend this tv for sure. Been a Samsung fan my whole life till this year. Lol

Are you going to do a settings video for Forza Horizon 5? The settings are different this time compared to 3 and 4. There are only brightness and satuaration settings and none of the usual HDR options. Love your contrnt btw.

I tried watching a 4K disc on my PS5 with the A90J for the first time recently and got awful lip sync issues. Nothing I could do would fix it. Is this something you could cover in a video for those of us not fortunate enough to have eARC or is that too niche? I was hoping not to have to buy a new receiver or a weird adapter device, but I may just have to invest in a new HDMI 2.1 receiver soon.

For those with an X85J, did anyone know an increase in picture quality after doing the update? It may have been just me but I noticed that hdr was slightly brighter while gaming.
I have the x85 and thats exactaly what i notice the hdr is a little more brighter.
Same here! Also the auto ps5 adjustments look better that manual adjustment I need to check again but I think the clicks are 13 13 2
I have an x85j. It set the peak brightness 250 nits above what my screen is capable of and elevated the black levels making them more washed out than black. Just set it yourself. 12 click from minimum on the first two. And darkest for the last one. Raise contrast on the tv to max if its too dim for you. Its less accurate but makes it a bit brighter.
My x85j has notified me that firmware 6.4284 (11/2021) is ready. I didn't think Bravia X1 TVs would receive the same update as XR at the same time, but I was pleasantly wrong.
I've succumb to the fact the X900H won't ever have VRR fixed, but when will they fix the 24fps judder issue.
VRR isn’t recommended until it’s released on the PS5 keep it on enhanced mode for now
Is it normal that I can no longer select a picture mode when playing ps5 on Sony Bravia XH90? This is ridiculous. I specifically made two custom modes (game mode with all fancy settings, and custom mode with very limited settings for online games like fifa and CoD), and no me I’m stuck with one mode for all games!?

Hi Vincent. My name is Richard. Want to make a long story short. I have the x900h Sony Bravia. Along with my PlayStation 5. I'm running it through the HT A 7000 Sony soundbar. I was just wondering. The auto HDR tone mapping did pop up for me. But I went ahead and adjusted it to your specifications. The thing is, how would I go about manually activating the auto HDR tone mapping. It seems no matter what I do. I can't get it to pop up anymore. I looked everywhere, top bottom all through the internet all through Reddit. And I just cannot get a decisive answer. I have noticed the abl on the a80j is actually improved. It only kicks in if the whole screen is static

Does the version number differ from region to region ? I tried looking for this update on my A80J but there is none . The last updated firmware version is 6.4048 , release date of 13th October . I am in Asia Pacific region.
