Largest tv I can fit in living room is a 55" that has some windows and is open to the kitchen. Would you recommend S95B at $1,449 or QN90B at $1,299? We are a normal viewing family using streaming.
bought a customer return Samsung S95B for 825GBP in the UK (taxes included) - was this a good idea?
I just got the LG C2 65" for $1600 from Best Buy today! :)
hello sir, it seems you know a thing or two, can you help me out i have 1 question: im almost going to buy the LG CS 55/65 inch, but can i see the total runned hours on this tv?
but qd lldd get burned in more easy
For OLEDs in monitor use:
- Set the taskbar to hide and only pop up when cursored over
- Set your desktop background as pure black or a gentle animation that lets every non-black pixel change over time
- For extended browsing sessions, use it in full-screen mode, or experiment with custom solutions to auto-hide its UI
- Dark mode everything
Comment below with more tips 🙂
sounds pointless - just buy a monitor and suffer none of these drawbacks
The question to Michael is? 🤔💭 Can you buy a monitor 65 to 77'' ?
@@michaellubeck8464 For some people, these drawbacks are worth the HDR, motion performance, response times, etc. for gaming / content consumption.
@@michaellubeck8464 why? monitors are full of useless features that justify overpricing them compared to TVs. i game in 60hz, and at 4k you can barely go over that. then theres the fact that if you sit in a spaceship with a 20, even 32 inch display... hows that any immersive? theres no match to a 65 inch TV 1m from your face flying in the universe of elite dangerous (add to that a head tracker and you can even look around. buy 3 TVs, with head tracking and you have a full cockpit)
only positive of "PC monitor" label is the Gsync/Freesync compatibility and displayport both mostly seem pointless to me.
big drawback of the TVs is the smartness. man i wish they made the QD OLEDs in dumbTV version...then again, netflix 4k is barely working on anything EXCEPT smart TV apps. so now you have an immersive screen, with 4k netflix support that a pc can only do on windows in the edge browser or the app still.
Fears of burn in are history. I've been using a Vizio OLED since it was released as a monitor. I set the taskbar to auto hide, use a black background, and a screen saver. That is all and I have zero burn in. It is actually semi annoying since I want to upgrade, but I can't use burn in as an excuse.
As my first OLED tv I went with the 77inch Sony OLED A80k.
"OLED isn't too dim.. your room is just too bright" 🤣🤣
not anymore
Oled is the way
The statement is spot on.
It is not the TV that is dime it is you my friend. ;)
@@christopherjoyce833 irony of misspelling dim* 😭
I’ve been watching a bunch of your videos this weekend, great channel! I just picked up my G2 and a sound bar so won’t be shopping for a Tv for a couple years, but love the content!
My wife and I just went with a 83" A90J for the family room and the 75" X95K for the bedroom. Both were on sale and both replacing 65" X950H's. The Black Friday sales made this possible plus I got my TVs cheaper via the military exchange which is tax free for retirees like myself. Takes forever to arrive but I will be happy when I get them in.
Do you think the A90J is dim? What are your thoughts?
Thank you so much. Really informative. This is the kind of guide buyers really need. The examples / use case you specified really helps in making the decision on which one to pick.
I appreciate the attention to detail and depth you have in this video. Thank you for the hard work you put into these.
I just ordered a 42" C2 to use strictly for gaming on my PC and consoles. I think I should be fine as I got use to using OLEDs for the last several years. You just have to be mindful that's all.
Thanks for mentioning even the older oled LG models great video!
Great help I choosing the right TV, Thanks!
Another home run of a vid ! Thanks for all your great advice and expertise .. Julio
I dont understand why people say OLED is dim.. its literally brighter then any LED TV ive ever owned. Brighter and more vivid
Fantastic helpful information ♥️
This was extremely informative. Thanks for the help. I’m gonna get a 77” LG G2 for the family room and if the glare and reflections are too bad I’ll just return it and get an LCD tv.
Most comprehensive guide to demystify the OLED buying decision. Thank you for making this video!
Hands down the best review!! Just the info I needed!
Minimum tech numbers that are hard to understand how actually affect the viewing experience.
Instead real world info..
Kudos! Thanks!!👍👍👌
U knocked it out of the park! This video should be required viewing for all tv buyers.
Thanks for bringing up the sports viewers use...I have not seen hardly any reviewers highlighting performance of the OLEDs or LCDs with sports watchers.
I have the lg cl 65 inch and I love it, my rooms not too bright and I do everything from sports to gaming to streaming movies!
Great video......i am still waiting to pull the trigger for a new one my mitsubishi DLP is in my living room since 2008,on my 3rd bulb i just change last week....thks
Outstanding review
This should be required watching before anybody starts shopping or watching other reviews.
I found this video very useful Thanks 👍
Wow. Thx very much. I watched so many reviews on Oled tv’s, I couldn’t decide which one to buy but you made me choose. This video is a complete masterpiece review. Three thumbs up 👍👍👍
I do a good mixture of gaming and watching movies/shows. Just ordered an LG C2 55in for $1167 plus tax. This will be my first OLED tv so I can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you for the very informative video!
I’m going with the 77 I watch sports and play games! Can’t wait
Great work I’ve learn a lot watching you guys
Great job in explaining throughly.
Very informative thankyou
Okay. Not to be THAT contrarian, but I have to chime in about the "not worry about burn-in" section of this video. I purchased Sony's Flagship A90J OLED around two years ago. I used it for mostly streaming and light video gaming. Last month, I noticed a horizontal burn-in bar towards the bottom of the screen, mainly noticeable during scenes that were reddish/orange. Come to find out, what caused it was CZcams'S PROGRESS BAR!!!!! Yes, okay, I readily admit that I watched tons of CZcams on that TV... but for cryin' out loud!!! I, too, was mollified by the whole 'burn in doesn't happen these days" malarkey.... and would never have imagined in a million years that the CZcams progress bar would cause burn-in on a Sony Flagship OLED. I am completely gutted. And no, that wasn't a cheap TV either.... which makes me even MORE salty!
PS: There is a bittersweet ending, thought. This gave me the excuse to replace it with the 77 inch Sony A90L. That is, no lie, the best television experience I have ever had. Bar none.
Excellent advice, thanks 🙏
Fomo, your video was exactly what I needed to make a decision. I have been obsessing over reviews for weeks and I’ve finally decided on the 65” Samsung S95B. I want the Sony A95K (but not badly enough to pay an extra $1,200.)
Heck, even the 55” A95K is $700 more than the 65” Samsung S95b! That’s crazy to me. I would love the sound that the A95K can produce, but for that kind of extra cash saved I will make due with my BOSE Atmos 500 home theater. Many say the Samsung S95b native speakers are really good, so maybe it will surprise me.
Thank you so much, great vid 😁
Your comment on #1 Static TV was hugely important to me. My mother watches a lot of news and business tv so this is especially applicable to her. I've kind of known about this for years but it was nice to hear you reinforce the point. I'm not sure if future plasmonic oled will eliminate this for good but that is a ways away. Not sure if my mother will be around to enjoy it. I'll have to figure out what you suggest instead of OLED for these business news consumers.. Off I go to another of your videos...
I’d probably stay away from the OLED unless she is a video expert and can see/notice the differences. There are great QLED or any other advance LED TV that will offer great pictures, usually brighter without any worry about a static image burn in. Also, if she isn’t gaming or stressing over watching 4K content at its best, an OLED would be overkill for general/casual daily TV use.
Just wanted to say thank you for the very informative advice!
WOW - this is one the most helpful videos I have ever seen. By the way: what doe think about the Philips OLED936? Could it ever compete with the LG C2?
Had my lg cx as a monitor for almost 2 years and there's no burn in. I set a 1min screen time out on windows which probably helps
Thnx FOMO, very helpful....
He's right. I bought a Samsung QN85A in a dark room and I have turn on 2 lights to protect my eyes from the brightness. Just bought a C2 to enjoy gaming without turning every light on in my game room
Thank you for your thoughtful and practical advice. Haven’t found anything nearly as good anywhere!
Best advice hands down every time. 😊
This was probably the best review on reviewers preferences ever! Thanks for this. I was so worried about black levels and color that i totally did not think about sports. I ordered sony x90k 85 inch simply bc it was available in a nice size. Then saw the reviews about black levels and lack of picture quality. Are Sonys led decent for sports watching
My FoMo is out of control right now I currently have a 2019 55in C9 and I love it. But it's starting to feel a little small do I do with the 77-inch G2 or do I jump and get the 65 in G3?
I really love your channel and the content you put out. I always find your videos super informative and you come across as a very likeable guy. Keep up the great work brother
Do you still value size over everything else if you have flexibility to move your seating closer or further away?
The TV is important but also remember to get some decent sound and a quality source for video playback
I have LG Oled C1. And it’s the absolute best !!! I am in a very bright living room with direct sunlight for half the day ! And it’s totally fine . Maybe the old models of OLED like from 5 years ago can’t handle it. But my models is 2-3 years old and it’s perfect !!
Would love to see a 75in U8H review! All current reviews are smaller sizes! Need to buy by mid October!
Whats a good Oled for a room that is dark all the time for movie/show watching. I’m thinking the Samsung might be too bright.
I’ve been looking at the LG and Sony. But can’t seem to figure out which one would be better for that room.
What about subtitles, in The Netherlands we have this with foreign tv shows or movies on TV. Is that static enough for burn in or because it is on screen only for a second a time there is no added risk for burn in?
Agreed on the TV choice thing but I went with 65” inch S95B because I want to wait for the 77” QD-OLED next year and a 65” will hold me over for a year and I’ll move it to my bedroom after the 77” becomes available
I’m doing the same thing lol
Y'all must got a big ass bedroom. Had a 50 in mine then moved the 60 from my living room and found it too big so I bought a 55 inch.
Yep 65 in bedroom is perfect size although I have a 77 inch I'd rather have a larger tv
@@shanew7361 - I would rather have a bigger room too! 👍
Fantastic video and great information. What would you recommend: I have a dark to moderately lit family room. However it's connected to my kitchen. So when cooking, there will be glare. But our, "Thing" is movies. We're considering LG C2, G2 77in, Sony X95K 75in and A90K 77in. I can't swing the A95K. THANKS AND KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDEOS.
@BAMA FAN went with the G2 and glad we did.
I don’t like to watch tv in the dark. In my basement H/T the couch is exactly 8ft away from my 65” and I don’t have the space for anything bigger so I’m looking at another 65” maybe the S95B but I have the lights on most of the time other than maybe the last hour or so before I call it a night so brightness definitely matters. I’ll have to check out the S95B & G2 and see which is brighter but regardless I will go into the service menu and disable any auto dimming that is on by default. I probably do 60/65% of my viewing upstairs living room or kitchen so burn in probably won’t be a problem on my end.
QUESTION! LG A2 77in or LG C2 65in? With blinds drawn, My room is relatively dim, no direct light - something like the light level of dusk right after the sun has set - but by no means absolute black. Will the A2 be bright enough or should I go slightly smaller but brighter with the C2?
Don’t forget the Panasonic LZ2000B it has HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and full gaming features close to the c2/g2.
As far as the 48 inch OLED ballpark goes what do you think is the best option? The C2 and A90k?
Thanks
Hey FOMO, what 2-3 TVs should I consider for gaming? Non OLED
QD OLED are a little pricey for me right now, so got the a80k on sale.. will def add a QD-OLED in year or two though
How much further will the A95k drop and when ? I need my tv on all night !
I got an open box for 3300.00.
My first ever OLED will be the S95B if I am able to purchase it on Black friday this year, and I was going to use it just for video games on my ps5, so I guess there won't be any issues, idk I don't watch anything over televisions so just saying.
I am confused between LG B2 77 inch Vs LG C2 65 inch .. it will be great if you can provide your view on that ... Thanks
I got the LG C2. Like it a lot. Is there anyway to reduce the edge enhancement? Seems unrealistic.
FOMO: In your MWave comparison between JVC and Sony laser projectors did the sony engineer co-hosting with you for the comparison suggest a firmware update for the Sony projectors was a possibility later this year to better compete with JVC base-black levels?
New subscriber. What's the best budget tv with amazing colors, hdmi 2.1, and 4k at 120hz for xbox series x in your opinion? Tv will be in mancave and used 90% for gaming only.
Good info FOMO. I agree with pretty much everything you covered, but from from experience is when. your comparing IQ of TV, especially the most common brands like Sony, LG, Panasonic and now Samsung is there really is not such thing as getting one that doesn't have a beautiful picture. Any differences between the different ones is minimal at best and unless you're comparing them side by side in your own home you will never be able to tell one apart from another in IQ. They are all beautiful. I would pick my TV now based on how plan on using it, like gaming, movie watching or both to see which features are most important to you. The whole brightness thing about QD vs non, I wouldn't use as buying descision anymore. I have a 65" QD S95B and it has beautiful picture, but because it recently died on me (won't power up longer) I opt'd for Samsung to give me a refund instead of replacement because they don't have the parts to fix it. So I purchased a 77" Sony A80K (which was actually $300 cheaper then the S95B) and couldn't be happier. This being my first 77" TV, I"m more impressed by the size improvement than I ever was by the small increase in brightness which you mostly will only see in the highlights. So many movies out there only put on 1000 nit content anyway, so you won't hardly ever see difference in average use. Plus I forgot how much I like having Dolby Vision again which you don't get with S95B. Long store short, always go for biggest TV you can afford and fit into your room. That will be way more impressive of an upgrade than a set with little more brightness.
What a great video. Really nice content.
I just got the Sony A80K it’s my first OLED. And it’s going in my basement I just refinished. Am I gonna be happy with it. Will it be bright enough for me? Only gonna be used for gaming (PS5) and streaming.
For the same cash I can get here 77" B1 or 65" S95B. Do you think it's still worth getting the 77inch B1 over 65inch S95B?
My LG B7 has terrible burn in. It's definitely made me leery of getting another one. I think the U8H is my next TV
Hey Fomo. I am a new follower and enjoy your CZcams videos. I wanted to ask for you advice please. I have bought the LG G2 77inch and also using Samsung Q950a 11.1. 4 soundbar. I am now looking for a blu-ray player and was interested in the Panasonic UB820. Do you think this is a good idea? As UB820 does not have Atmos.. Your response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Your right about using another device for the tv to get burn in, but the tv I saw the burn in wasn't an oled it was a regular 1080p lg tv I believe, and the person was using a camera device to connect to the tv to watch the cameras outside there house and when I change the channel I can still see the previous image from the device showing the camera fading slowly
Still gaming on my C9 😊
Tv running like a champ
I think you hit it out of the park with the recommendations. I agreed 100% My only crit is the video is about 10 min too long. A bit long winded in beginning when the last 10min is really all people are most concerned with.👍🏻🤓
Put him on 1.5x!
@@bearclaw5115 🤣not sure he'd appreciate that, but actually it's kinda a good I dea, I've never thought of that
@FOMO when you are talking about brightness in a room, I am someone who enjoys my Philips hue light strip and play bars I'm just wondering when you're taking about brightness as these are synced to the TV would you recommend an Oled TV are would a QLED work better in my case, I'm not into gaming just use a tv mainly for Cable and sometimes I'll stream but for me ambient lighting is a must, mainly the strip is on behind the TV but sometimes I'll turn on a set of play bars. Depending on my mood. Thanks for all your great information
The obvious choice would be a Phillips ambilight TV if you live in a country selling those tvs. I have read good things regarding their oleds.
Do we know anything about burn in on the s95b? I'm thinking about getting one as a PC monitor. I assume it's not a problem since Alienware has a monitor using the same panel.
Thank you for this very useful summary, FOMO. I hope you don't mind answering this question about Pink Tint and DSE: You and other Reviewers have specifically mentioned how WOLED compares to QD-OLED at the 65" size. But do you know if these two issues get better or worse for WOLED at the 77" size? I am seriously debating three choices right now to upgrade from my current and beloved 65" LG C6: 77" LG G2, 65" A95K, or wait until next year. If you know the answer to my question, you can help me (and hopefully others) out a lot!
You can wait forever. If you want new tv now, I would get it this black friday, or earlier if you find a good deal. I have read that 77” G2 panel is very clean, cleanest WOLED so far. It is also Ex. 83” is not. I have also read that 65” G2 has more problems this year. Between A95K and G2, get the bigger size, if you desire it even a little bit. I would also check if you can get decent 83” deals. That will not be as bright or clean as 77” G2 or QD-OLED’s, but then you are getting something to beat/match next years 77” QD-OLED’s. With 65” or 77” WOLED you are not going to do that of course. But don’t wait too long, there is always something better coming. I have 77” CX, 83” A90J and 55” S95B if it matters. I don’t think QD-OLED beats size.
The pink tint issue is greatly overblown. I don't know if I've ever noticed it in real content. I only see it in full field grey on menus.
Definitely wayyy less noticable than DSE
Thank you for the responses! I am starting to lean more toward a 77" G2 because of your responses and other videos, like one of the latest on the G2 from HDTV Test. (Vince actually kind of answered my original questions: pink tint and DSE are apparently better mitigated on the 77" panel vs. the 65" panel.) I am still somewhat on the fence since I haven't been able to see G2 live yet, but I did just see an A95K and I have to admit it was very impressive! I'll have to see if I can somehow locate a local venue that would allow me to view a G2 and an A95K side by side with the same content. (Maybe too tall of an order?)
@@joes3800 the one thing I'll say is that you're definitely going to notice the size jump of a 77 as compared to a 65.
The difference in quality will be pretty small compared to having like 15-20 percent more screen.
I would get the G2 now and enjoy it. 3-5 years from now you can get a QD OLED of the same size or bigger for an upgrade.
Right now with QD OLED being year 1 and only in a 65 id just rather have a larger tv if it were me.
This is especially especially true if you've never had an OLED before. You'll be wow'ed enough just going up to OLED.
But yes it's always a good idea to physically get in front of some TVs and actually see what you think before you buy anything.
One interesting thing is if you put an OLED in a QD OLED side by side and a bright room you will find that the QD OLED doesn't have true black.
The lack of a filter literally allows the light of the room to alter the black level.
This is actually one reason why they don't usually put QD OLED next to OLED in showrooms.
I am torn between S95b and G2 still. I can get the 1700 eur for S95b 65 inch or 1950 eur for G2 65 inch. Samsung is tempting but G2 seems like a safer pick.
I have a Samsung HD 40” TV which I’ve had for around 10 years. Sometimes I watch TV/films and stream during the day as well as at night. I want to get a bigger screen 55” maybe a 65” at the right price, but I don’t know whether to get an OLED or a LED. 🤔
Great video 👍
I like really high peak highlights but also want to retain detail in those highlights
Hey FOMO any chance we’ll get QD-Oled(A95K) in bigger sizes like 77in or 83in? I’m saving to get the A90J hopefully by Black Friday if it’s still available.
Is it worth to buy displayed set of oled TV? Even if the price has been discounted so much?
Awesome guidance! O
Nice review i would love to see some review for lcd TV's plz
I just ordered a LG B2 65". Coming from the Samsung QN90A which was WAY too bright for my needs. That, plus the 120hz capability doesn't work so decided to try out LG. Excited to see how it is, just hoping it is bright enough.
How did you like it? I’m in the same boat between the two TVs
How is the b2?
My new 83 A90J has 750 nits , LG 83 G2 has 820 nits but prices different between them in 70 nits is barely visible.
If you go from 62" to 77" do you loose sharpness because of the bigger size I would think?? Thanks!
I need HELP! I have a 1.1k budget, and need 55 inch TV for the living room that is moderately light, good viewing angles preferred, what recommendations do you have?
Perfect video!
I want to know whats considered by tv tech standards, as a "bright" room or "dim" room. Its subjective for sure. My living room is obviously brighter during the day even with shades and curtains closed and dimmer at night with a single lamp on. I wouldn't say its bright compared to a room with full light coming in through large windows though. What's bright for me may be dim compared to other environments. Would be nice to see demos of these tvs in different lighting scenarios instead of just pick this if your room is bright or pick this if its dark.
Thank you for all the insight! At this point is it even worth it to buy a 55 oled tv?
I'm getting QD-OLED for screen uniformity.
Greece: S95B 2150€, 77" C2 3300€. We are talking more than 1000 euros difference. C1 77" is at 2500. I don't know if it is even worth it to go for 77" at these prices. Although I really want a bigger screen cause my living room is big.
My Samsung q900r just went out and using your information from this video as well as others helped me decide on the 83 inch a90j which is a great price right now.
My father bought it day it came out lol he loves it good choice
How is the LG A1? recommend?
I live in a small one bedroom apartment with a moderately lit living room. I'm not a gamer, but love to watch movies, regular TV and some sports. I recently purchased the Sony A90J 65 inch for $2599.. I do not have the TV yet, getting it delivered in a few weeks for personal reasons. But I'm hoping I made the right choice...
You most certainly did. Excellent choice!
Is DSE covered under warranty?
20:00 lol, the hand movement at the same time of the background pic changing
I bought the C1 77" for about the same price as a 65" C2 and I could not be happier. It's a fantastic television.
if you aren't using it for gaming or sports C1 is ok you don't need the extra refresh rate for movies.

Is the Samsung s90c bright enough for a an open living space with a lot of natural light? What about the LG G3?
