  • Roland D-70 - Factory Presets Demo
Roland D-70 was the first Roland's ROMpler with resonant filters from 1990. There are great sounding Hi, Band and Low Cut filters with envelope. Also, there are editable FX processor, 6 part multitimbrality, 4 Osc (Tones) Preset/Patch structure, 4 sliders for realtime control, big LCD and more.
All sounds recorded without any additional audio processing, from D-70s stereo outs to a Tascam DR-05x digital recorder in 24bit/48khz resolution.
    Roland D-70 specifications:
    - 76 note kyeboard with aftertouch
    - 30 note polyphony
    - 6 part multitimbral
    - 4 MB of ROM samples (86 sounds + 28 drums)
    - 64 Performance Presets
    - 128 Patch/Presets
    - 128 Tones

12:57 came here just for this. Spit Brass is the preset used for the lead synth in the Animusic song "Retro Future." if you've never heard it before, do that right now. it's fantastic

Never really understood why Roland didn't call this the U70 as it was closer related to the U20 and U220 rack. I had the u20 and gigged it for years. Loved it.

yes it must have been U70 or JV70, no way D70.

I think I read that on a forum somewhere couple years back or on a video but it was originally gonna be called the U70 but they scrapped that and made it D70

Yes. I see it also. I had an D-50, U-20 and JV-80. And the D-70 is for me also an JV-70 or U70.

I got a D70 3 months ago and installed the black and white display, black background with white fonts.... OH MY GOD!!!!! LOL Access Viturs Ti2 Whiteout was put into shame. Is the coolest thing ever!!!! Looks too cool for Batman. The board is black, long and has this black and white screen. I wish the screen was black with yellow fonts, that would be killing. It looks like a piece of art. And the sound is amazing!

I think that this is not a Super LA synth, trying to sell it an enhanced version of the D-50.
Instead I am almost sure it is an enhanced version of the U-220, with digital filters. A very good machine!
Anyway they should have sold it as a U-70 or a U-30.
    Not fair trade behaviour...

I really wanted to own a D70 when they were released in 1990 but it's archaic unfriendly user interface turned me off the instrument, despite its fabulous sounds.. I went with a Korg T3EX instead which I ended up owning for over 25 years. In terms of raw synthesis power, the Korg wasn't as powerful as the D70, particularly with its non resonant filters, but it's user interface was vastly superior as well as its dual effects processors. Saying that, the D70 and T3 would have made a formidable early 90s combo along with a Yamaha SY77 and Ensoniq VFX.

    • @madness8556
      @madness8556 Před rokem +3

Yes indeed the D50 didn't contain any full length looped samples, unlike the D70. The Korg M1 went the next step in providing full looped samples only a year after the release of the D50. Both D50 and M1 along with the Yamaha DX7 were the big 3 affordable digital synths of the 1980s.
