help repair d70. graphit key contact too much cleaned, so a few keys are "dead". What to put on the contact messed? (under the rubber contact) - conductive graphit spray ? - conductive paint? ... please share my sos everywhere you could, I need advice and help. THANKS.
Not in the manual. You can either send a sysex file via MIDI (MIDI-OX software is the best), or buy/rent a factory sounds card. There's someone on the Net offering such service, you pay full price for the card, copy it into internal memory of D70, then send that card back to them, they'll refund the price minus $30 "rent". Also, D70 parts are still available direct from Roland, that broken key costs under $10.

i noticed the broken key, i easily got mine when i rang up roland for a replacement key for the key missing. The d70 realy is probably one of the best keyboards ive come across before. When did you get your roland?
I used to have one of these, but eventually the main board fried, so it was not fixable anymore. Great synthesizer, although they keyboard has its traditional Roland quality issues. But, you can't beat its original sound. I have a D-50 now, which still work, and just got D-5 off eBay. Long live Roland D-Series. (although the D-70 was not a real D-Series really, it was a great instrument. Ask B.T.)
Apparently Roland almost called it the U70 as its affectively a glorified U20 with larger display and, more real-time control, 76 note keyboard, DLM synthesis and digital resonant filters. The factory waveform ROM and built in fx are the same.
@@madness8556 Yes, it was supposed to be called a U-50, actually. To me, the D-70 is like the S-770 without sampling capability. The multimode filters was the feature that set it apart from the D-50, and the ability to filter samples of course. The DLM is excellent for Moog style basses. A fully working D-70 in brand new condition still remains my ultimate dream.
@@dvamateur the D70 is a beautiful sounding and looking instrument that I too wanted to own but I found its user interface way to convoluted and its fx section very limited. I went for a Korg T3EX instead.
@@madness8556 Well, to me personally, the D-70's interface is the most intuitive of all synthesizers. Maybe because it was my first professional subtractive synthesizer, and that's the interface I got used to. With the graphical envelopes, and sliders assigned to various parts of the screen elements, I think the D-70 is far simpler than the Korg T-series or Yamaha SY77/SY99. As far as the FX section goes, the D-70 effects are first rate, and are fully editable. Sure, there's no phaser, distortion, or rotary speaker effect, but the reverb, delay, chorus, and flanger effects are first rate.
@@dvamateur very true that the D70 fx are top quality. The SY77 is a complicated beast but very powerful the way it combines samples and FM. The M and T series certainly are weaker synths than both D70 and SY77 with their non resonant low pass filters. I found the Korg interface the easiest to master, hence why I got the T3 and I also wanted the on board sequencer and floppy disk drive.
I would pull out the parts of that key, fashion a support element to strengthen it (like for example several pieces cut out of (ideally square cross-section) bamboo chopsticks) and epoxy cement them into the underside of the broken key - these keys are largely hollow so there's room to fit fortifying additional structure into them. The result might outlast some of the non-broken keys.
these we great boards and better controllers at the time they came out. the G key is broken because the tab in back was manufactured short and can break fairly easily, dropping the key. The D70 are famous for broken keys. ( easy fix with a new key) I have had 10 or so synths from different manufacturers and this is the only one ive ever broken keys on. In fact i laughed out loud when I saw the video for the first time and the key was hanging. "Yep its a d-70 all right!"
I have a D-70 onstage at work right up there with my new trendy keyboards. In Vegas, we working keyboardist's are always very supportive of each other mostly, And I have had LOTS of compliments on my D-70 sounds, untill they find out those sounds aren't coming out of my Nord or Kronos, but the D-70. LOL!!!! It takes some time to learn how to program them quickly, but I took the time, (months actually) and the D-70 is amazing IF you learn that monster editing matrix. Most of the self proclaimed youtube "keyboard/synthesizer genius's" that have always complain "it's not a D50 upgrade, it's a u-220 in a keyboard" are so FULL OF IT. They completely miss the point of this amazing machine, And the HUGE sounds that it produces. And the reason so many of us that are working keyboard players have one? Well, aside from the obvious, the D-70 can imitiate SO many of the classic Oberhiem, Prophet, Moog, and Roland patches and sounds PLUS FX that are so classic, plus even though they are older, they have an excellent digital effects section, which makes those classic sounds sound like they are right off the CD. That is a REALLY BIG PLUS that is always ignored in the D-70 reviews. Like I said, you have to LEARN this Synthesizer/Rompler. And the feel of the D-70 keyboard for playing is right up there with the best of them, it plays FAST, and even, Not at all like the jokers on the net that always put down it's playability factor and blatantly lie in their reviews and say they are such fast soloist,s and the D-70 they are demo-ing just couldn't keep up with their fingers.... LOL!!! right. You might have to replace the little metal spring things under each key every couple of years, and the contacts if a key goes dead, but they are built like tanks, and won't let you down, unless you take them apart and damage the connections between the Keyboard assembly and the CPU. If you do that, you might as well throw it in the dumpster behind Bellagio. Also, believe it or not, I am on my 3RD D-70. RARELY do I rant like this, But the D-70 needs someone to stick up for it.

I will never get enough of the Prologue patch... I'm selling mine, already miss it. Gonna get the D550 to replace it.
I just do not get it why Roland terminated that display and Went years back with the jv90 layout.
4:07 The playing on your synth solo there was absolutely incredible. Fast fingers there, very gifted. A great sound from the D-70 too

oh Roland D70 and M-AUDIO fire wire....I have it too...
Whats the difference between this and the JD 800?
JD800 have engine based on D50 with new WaveROM, D70 have WaveRom from U20 -> D50 + U20 = D70.
I think you hit that broken key's G spot.

o que aconteceu com aquela tecla? :O
You'd be surprised, but super glue can work on broken keys. Assuming what's under it still functions.
