Best part is that lie detector tests are extremely inaccurate
Yeah you can trick a polygraph by really believing what you say it's a mental thing why it doesn't work on sociopaths
â@@thewoodwickboys5010 brb gonna collect my 500 grand
â@@thewoodwickboys5010 I never understood why dont more people realize that.
I mean, it literally checks if the person it's liying, not that it's the objective truth of the matter
If you get convinced that you are liying/liable for something, even if it's a total delusion then the test will also say that you are not liying even when it's a total fabrication.
Its the next step on victim blaming imo.
â@@toobig7150 so she doesn't know if she likes her ex more bcoz there an "objectively correct" answer?
@@-Scrapper- It's not even just that you can trick it by believing it it's just generally inaccurate. The only reason it gets used is so you have thin justification to accuse someone of something then dig deeper on them. There are many forsenics that have little scientific backing that supports their accuracy and use.
Why use them then? Well, you can accuse them of what you like and then if your 'super scientific' test says they did it well...Convicted.
imagine your wife says she will cheat on you and then you get the audience clapping

Man moment
There was one episode where a woman said her dad âslept withâ (I hate that wording) a MINOR, it said she was telling the truth, and the audience was so happy applauding because she won the $500,000
The fact that she had to think about it and struggled to even give an answer to a question asking if she would leave her husband for someone she used to date just shows how fucked that marriage is.
Yep. It's Over

True
But yummy slop so yummy
Real
I agree
the fact that even the host of the show was not down with airing the show explains how uncomfortable the show was.
Chances are he was forced to publish it by the higher upside and the investors.
He might be just faking discomfort because of how controversial the show is, to save face and show that they have empathy and are not shameless monsters.
@@Lucas-bb3ji this ^^. Plus faking it like that adds to the drama that might bring in more viewers for sheer shock factor
@@Amodh1257 Exactly.
@@Lucas-bb3ji Cody Ko actually interviewed the host. He did say he was genuinely uncomfortable doing it but he already he already agreed to do the show as a favour, so he can't really backed down from it. And if Pyro were not skipping every 5 seconds, you'll see that the host at multiple times tried to convince the contestant not to answer the question or back down or just take whatever money they can get and go home. In the interview, Mark (the host) has said behind the scene, he told the producer that he really didn't want to ask some questions but the producers still insist saying the contestants were fine with it. This is where it gets tricky cause he did admit that he himself was kinda left in the dark and was unsure whether the contestants themselves are in on it and just faking it for the shows. But he only realised that after many years the show ended and during the time it aired, he genuinely believe he had just ruined someone's marriage.

The worst part about this is that polygraph tests are extremely inaccurate, so most of the answers that respond as "lies" are potentially actually truth
Unless the person actually says âyesâ to a terrible question
@@christiantrent1030t could be that the person knows they are stressed and the detector will detect it as a lie, so instead they say yes and use reverse psycology. Yes + Lie = No
@@minial0015 well the shows scripted so idk also depends on the question
Yeah, the perfect example of this, is something that happened over here, a few years ago (2018 or 19) with The Jeremy Kyle show, Neil Diamond went on the show, his wife at the time, was convinced he was cheating on her, the test said he lied, she divorced him, and a few months later (before the episode aired though) he killed himself, thankfully, due to this event, the show was axed
exactly, contestants are probably going to get super nervous towards the end because of the rewards which just makes it even more likely to hit a false positive đ€Šââ
Best episode of a game show I ever saw, Deal or No Deal. Player was a widowed father, being watched by his two children from his first wife, and his second wife.
His kids keep giving him correct advice, and his wife keeps giving him wrong advice, but he keeps doing what the wife wants. Until it gets to the final deal. They could either accept the deal and get a fairly large amount of money, or open their case and risk getting a slightly larger amount, or nothing.
Kids tell him to take the deal. Wife tells him not to take the deal. He listens to the wife, rejects the deal, opens his case, and gets nothing. Show ends with the family on stage with the kids crying, "why didn't you listen to us?"
Nah đ can you find the episode anywhere?
wait what? He's widowed, and yet he's wife is still alive? Is the wife a ghost or some shit? Did he got advice from Ouija board? I have so many questions
@@zackfross98 new wife

@@zackfross98 average pyro viewer reading comprehension
I like how they ruined the lives of everyone involved, and the last one being about "are you a good person" ensures they never have to pay a dime to anyone who reaches it. Like, after waiting to build as much tension as possible, the person answering probably doubts themselves regardless of what they said
- Will you eat a baby for 1 million dollars?
- Yes.
- Truth.
*applauds*
The worst thing is that Polygraphs are garbage. I had to take one for a job, and I am generally a very nervous person, and I was triggering that thing with every question. Then there are people like a friend of mine at the time who had to take the same polygraph and they had to reschedule because there is a point where you have to say a lie for them to judge what the level for a lie is, and they couldn't even get a reading on him when he told an obvious lie. It genuinely doesn't work and it's supposed to be used to scare people into divulging info instead of actually working as a lie detector.
its hilarious because these tests are determined based on how stressed the test taker is, also the results would be so easy to fudge anyways that the true and false should be taken with a grain of salt
Yeah, that makes me feel like these are all fake. What if they ask the question "Have you ever cheated on your husband" and you answer no, and then they broadcast on TV that your answer was a lie. But it's not a lie. And then it results in the end of your married. I feel like there's a possibility of suing them for defamation. Since polygraph results aren't admissible as evidence in a court of law, they have no evidence to prove their answer was right, while you have evidence that their slander ruined your marriage.
Yup. In a real polygraph, they're supposed to read through the questions beforehand to avoid surprising and stressing out the person being tested over anything other than whether or not they're telling the truth. And then this show is doing everything in its power to get her heart rate up.
The episode that was the most shocking was actually done because the woman wanted to tell those horrible truths about the cult her family was in and figured it wouldd be a great way to expose it
That answer is...
true
Game shows like these always seemed like a terrible idea to me because of how disastrous the consequences of getting caught lying would be.
Reminds me of that one case from the 90s where there were three people, 2 men and 1 women, and the show host revealed that 1 guy had feelings for the other guy, with the latter being surprised by the revelation.
After the show ended, the latter went to the former guy's house and shot him dead.
It lead to a massive lawsuit and the show getting canceled one year later.
Jeremy Kyle comes to mind. Even though that's not a gameshow

There is no way this is real, it has to br scripted. After she has already destroyed her marriage there is no way she'd answer untruthfully to whether she's a good or a bad person.
You underestimate the stupidity that human beings are capable
Polish version of that show has one of the most insane moments of polish television. There was a contestant that came with her husband, friend and sister, and she got mostly questions about relationship with her husband. It turned out he was a shit, ego top husband. And the craziest question was "Did your husband hit you in front of the kids", which was the question he decided to skip.

Them booing is just that social experiment, where the lady stood perfectly still, and let anyone do anything to her for hours. To show how people are willing to do horrific things when they are able to think of someone as less than human.
Nobody even did anything too bad to her.

The saddest part, other than the dreadful sadness, is the fact that when she doesn't say "No," there's hesitation that already answers the question without saying, hence making everything doubly painful.
There's also the fact polygraphs aren't actually that accurate so people can be screwed out of alotta money even if they do tell the truth.

Yeah the cheating thing about this show was bad, but it really would have been worse if the contestants were confronted about something that was truly illegal to do. In fact when Mr. Robot host man said he didn't want to air the episode, I thought that it would have been some sort of confession of illegal behaviors. At the end of the day it is legal to fantasize about other people and cheat on your spouse. The relationship is ruined, but that's all compared to what it could have been.
The reason they ask nothing questions at the beginning are to get a baseline sot that they can see the normal stress reaction to a question in general and tell the difference when a lie is told
Even the music in this show sounds so sinister and evil, jesus
The dog or homeless person question is easy. With a dog you can toss literally anything on the ground for them and they'll be happy. Like a little piece of something you're eating or whatever. You do that with a homeless person and it'd be insulting.
