  • The R58 Barkly Pass between Barkly East and Elliot/Khowa remains closed to traffic as thick snow remains piled up on the road. Officers continue to monitor the situation in other mountain passes in the northern parts of the Eastern Cape bordering Lesotho as temperatures plummeted to below zero overnight. Newzroom Afrika's Sipha Kema has more.

instead of telling people who need to travel that they must not travel. they should be using Government trucks to scrape ice off and also spray salt on the road to help with the ice. The climate in SA is changing and it's snowing more each year. why isn't the government taking steps to keep up with these changes. that taxi and trailer is there because we have no public transport infrastructure. public transport in S.A is private. If we had trains transporting people, this would not be an issue

This is not good people! Why are African people not disturbed by snow consistently appearing in Southern Africa? This is highly disturbing and not good for our climate here, people!
