In the Eastern Cape, thousands of talented young athletes with the potential to be tomorrow’s sports heroes don’t have access to proper facilities. In villages across the province, netball courts, rugby fields and athletics tracks are a rare sight. So, when the provincial government promised the rural community of Sakhisizwe that it would build a new multi-million rand stadium, it was a welcome development. Fast forward several years and the much-anticipated high-performance centre is little more than an abandoned field. But Sakhisizwe is not the only community that’s been promised new or refurbished facilities costing millions, only for developers to pocket the money and fail to deliver. In this election campaign, Carte Blanche crisscrosses the province, tracking several costly infrastructure projects in one of the poorest parts of the country, and finds a trail of broken promises.

@@LwandleDlamini_ The DA is far from perfect, but they have a solid track record that no other political party can come close to. People also like to ignore that what the DA has achieved in the Western Cape has been done with a hostile national government. If we get the right people in power, this country will finally have access to its inherent potential and the Rand would literally strengthen overnight. If SA chooses the ANC, EFF, or MK, or a combination thereof, the opposite will happen and the country's future prosperity will go out the window. We are walking a very fine line, and any populist narrative and party in only in it for personal gain. We desperately need public SERVANTS, not wannabe dictators, socialists, or communists.

In just 24 days black South Africans will vote to keep the ANC in power. I think the ANC should get another 50 years. That will roughly equal the amount of time apartheid was in operation. Only then can we make an accurate assessment of the ANC.

With these amounts that are being mentioned here just shows how much potential this country has at developing and uplifting its people also with the treasury being so generous at forking out these amounts but by appointing greedy and selfish individuals it becomes a sad state of affairs and so it will continue.

There are some who believe the country is being taken care of, ones that look at this and say it was made to make the leaders look bad, I say its time wake up, look around you... Don't you want things to be better? Don't you think things could be better? They most definitely can, they have to. Stop making the wrong choice

The governing parties/individuals who appoint contractors and are supposed to practice oversite should be held financially responsible in their personal capacities for any amounts over budget. The most competent contractors will then be appointed out of fear of personal fiancial loss even if these politicians dont care about anything else.
