  • TAMA is proud to unveil the next generation of its acclaimed Iron Cobra and Speed Cobra pedals. In this video, the engineers and specialists at TAMA who created these pedals reflect on the evolution of the Cobra pedal line as well as the expanded range of features and benefits these new pedals have to offer. Artists such as Rodney Holmes, Dave Lombardo, Nick Pierce and others also contribute, relating their own Cobra pedal experiences, both past and present―and how this next generation of pedals is inspiring them.

    Hope to see CAMCO pedals a regular line rather than exclusive only.

    I love my 2016 Iron Cobra (rolling glide). I changed the beaters and the slave pedal link recently, because they were already wiped out, but I played hundreds of shows with this pedal and thousands of hours, still looks and feels like a new one.

    I went in to Guitar Center and saw this Iron Corbra. I put my foot on it and swung it a few times standing up (U know all the different bass drum pedals lined up to try) . Immediately I thought "damn this thing feels real good". I pulled it off and thru it on one of the Roland kits. That pedal feels real nice. Just as good if not better than my DW9000. Now I have to have it.

    I tried the old and new powerglide pedal in a side by side comparison. The new one actually felt a lot different from the old one. A lot smoother and lighter in feel. still the heavy feel but so much more control and smoothness.

    I had severall issues with the old Speed Cobra: breaking springs, the beater went flat, among with other things, but i've always been truth to the Tama brand. Finally they got all these defects solved, and I can't wait to test drive these new bad boys. Way to go Tama!!!

      +Arthur Telles Yeah. That original Speed Cobra beater was awful. Bunch of my friends just changed the beater to the Iron Cobra beaters.

    The new speed Cobras are the best pedals on the market imho. If you were about to get some 600 dollar direct drive gizmo or a DW 9002 don't do it until you compare to these first. You'll save yourself $170 and have a better pedal at the same time.

    I bought the new Speed Cobra just because of the longer footboard, but when I realized how smooth it is, I knew I should adjust it to be just a bit harder on me. Every single thing I couldn't do on some other pedals, this one helped me to get through, practice better, play better.
    Edit: Oh yeah, the beater wasn't all that great for me, so I swapped it with the felt one.

    Glad you upgraded the beaters on the speed cobra. Those old ones would disintegrate into dust after a few months playing

    The speed cobra could come whit the pulley power glide as an option, since the iron purchased the lite sprocket speed.

    I've been playing my iron cobras since 2003, in fact they were my first professional dbl pedals I bought used at a pawn shop for like $150. with that being said they are still kicking ass! My family gave me a dw 9000 single pedal for my birthday, which I really like, but it comes not even close to my cobras. Now I'm ready to invest in a new set of double pedals, but I don't know if I should get the iron or speed cobras?

    • @DrummingMoose
      @DrummingMoose Před 7 lety

      Fil Solano It depends. Do you like a heavier or lighter kick pedal

    • @filsolano5465
      @filsolano5465 Před 7 lety

      OldSchoolAddict I know the cobras are or feel heavier than my 9000 and i like the feel on both, I'm leaning more towards the speed cobras for the long board basically and the feel of the pedal itself, but the irons have that other magic touch I also love. With your experience which one would you recommend?

    • @DrummingMoose
      @DrummingMoose Před 7 lety +1

      Fil Solano Then I would recommend the Speed Cobra because you like the feel of the 9000 and the extended footboard of the Speed Cobra.

    Speed Cobra or Iron Cobra, what's a drummer to do? I've got a Speed Cobra that's about 3+ years now, and sometimes I'd like the pedal board to be not quite as long as it is, but not as short as the Iron Cobra or the standard brands..... Speed is important, but feel and finesse are more important to me. Help an ol' drummer out here please...... Blessings!!!

    all the artist statements about I've never had one break is complete bullshit! I had one break 3 days after I got it so I took it back to the store and got a new one. that one broke in a day and a half! I switched to a DW 9000 after and never had a problem. I guess if someone is padding your pocket to hype the product play a Tama otherwise don't waste your time or money.
