Thank you very much. I had a chance to buy a used one a month ago (in Hungary) and I've never had Orbea bike before (I am also a "used bike addict" :)) so I was searching for some reviews when I found your video. I got very useful information about the bike so I purchased and I am glad with it. I am completely satisfied with this bike. It is really a great one. And the philosophy behind the manufacturing also very interesting and likeable. Great video!

I'm set to pick up a 2020 orbea carpe 25 tomorrow for my son for $375. I didnt even haggle as the bike is in nearly mint condition. It will be my son's first bike (outside of a toddler bike he had with training wheels when he was like 5). Wish us luck! We are both just trying to get healhty. I picked me up a Ghost Square Cross 1.8 for $300 used as well in prestine condutuon. Hoping that we are starting on a journey to a healthier lifestyle. Cheers!

Thank you for your honest and good review for a bike brand I'd never heard of until today! I've seen new Orbea Carpe 40's advertised at a local bike shop so I'm keen to check them out in the flesh and possibly purchase. So far it looks like it will be my next bike!

such a nice review, making excactly the point that the nicer the bike the more security you have to carry. So I choose a bike not this new with a light lock in our city. 😏

Oh man, such a beautiful bike.... If I didn't place my order already for a Trek, I would have probably gone for one of these.... I was searching for a "cool" brand available in Belgium, wide and large, but finally settled for a Trek, which, don't get me wrong, is certainly a great bike, but oh, man, this one looks amazing with such sleek lines, and feels like built for purpose!

Thanks - indeed it seems to harder to find dedicated Orbea dealers in Belgium. Or they just sell the expensive electric Orbeas...

Thank you for the imput. I'm currently searching a converting bike. I think the carpe 15 could be the one. I want to add an bbs02 to it. Do you think the bike is good enough quality? I just want it, to carry my son in the thule up the hills here in switzerland without to much sweat. I'm around 68 kg and 179cm and really sporty, but going to a meeting and sweating from driving is not fun :)

    Hi there,
I was wondering if you would be interested in my Orbea Carpe 30 2018. It's the bike behind you in the video. I don't think it's a stretch to say it's in near immaculate condition. I have ridden it a handful of times on the road, never in wet or muddy conditions, and it has always been looked after and stored in a warm garage. If you like I would be more than happy to send you images of the bike. I believe it's a medium size but i'm not entirely sure. The only thing I have added to it is a rear mudguard and front and rear lights. There is one small chip in the paint on the top bar. I need to make it clear that this is a VERY reluctant sell, but i'm moving to The Isle Of Mull for the season and frankly I need the money. Let me know what you think. Regards, Nick.

I got my Carpe 20 second hand for 400€
I was lucky because it was like brand new and it was my size wich is M
It's a 2019 model wich is the same bike as a new 2022 model, but 2019 is a 36 spokes wheel but 2020 and above they go at 32 spokes.
Totally agreed with your advices about the bike. Carpe 20 comes with shimano hidro brakes and 1 by 9 gears (42 front and 11-36 cassette.
I didn't liked the carpe 15 or 10 because all you get is a rear rack, mud guards and a dinamo lights. So i installed a Tubus cargo classic rear rack that carry and looks greart Bush & Müller lights at the fork and rear rack that are USB powered and last up to 15h. Shimano metalic pedals, Ergon GP3 grips, and a sweet Brooks B17 that match the saddle style and is way more confortable than the original one as you said.
For tires i got Schwalbe Marathon 700x35c. As last upgrade i removed the sunrace 11-36 cassette and hg53 chain and got a CS-HG400 shimano 9 speed 11-36 cassette matched with a hg93 chain.
I work as a bike mechanic at a Trek store in Spain. I live close to Orbea Factory and still hard to find second hand carpe.
Only thing i miss about the bike is the carbon fork that comes with higher end models

    hello
i bought yesterday this bike(carpe 40), second hand like new, and i am allready loving it
first of all its a beautifull, i didnt like the super thin fragile look of some other brand(giant escape/ trek fx)(still good, not for my preferences), or the mtb look of others(kona dew plus)
they are great bikes but its a personal thing, the bike must scream to call you to ride it
this is actually a flat bar gravel bike, almost intentical to ''vector drop''
i tested on gravel roads with the stock tyres and was super fast and comfort, imagine with better gravel tires
if you want speed on pavement, install some 700x32c slicks and you have a fitness bike
the only bad thing the crappy transmission(i love the 1x) but next mod is to change it with 1x10 deore xt 11-42
the brakes are not like the hydralics in my ex bike, but the front is powerfull enough, the rear needs more power
i am sure that i will have good time with this bike

After 4 months, i installed gravelkings slick 38c and i change the transmission with SRAM X9 10x 11-36, and i put the SMR TRK sandle and i am deep in love with this bike
Super fast on and off road and super comfortable and fun to ride

Hello! I'm thinking about buying a Carpe 20.
I'm 1,79 tall with 86cm inside leg, Orbea sizing is M: 1,70-1,80 and L: 1,80-,190 so I'm between these two sizes, any advice on which size would be better for me?
And also what's, more or less, the weight of the bike? Thanks!

    • @TheCheapBikeChannel
      @TheCheapBikeChannel  Před 2 lety

Hello - I'd go for the L because the resale value is slightly higher in my opinion, i.e. there are less L & XL sizes on the second-hand market compared to M. Also I find I go faster on larger frames, as they transfer the force more efficiently. It weighs around 12.5kg, without accessories.

    • @jpersa7747
