  • Whilst in San Sebastian, Orbea the Spanish bike manufacturer invited us around the factory where they custom paint every single bike by hand. This was awesome!

It's so dark because Spain is on the same line of longitude as the UK, or even slightly further West, and should therefore be on the same time as the UK. To fit in with European time it was decided long ago that they should be on CET to make international trade easier.
I was toying with buying an Orbea for my last bike, if I'd known they were a workers' cooperative I'd have bought it. Absolutely sick bikes.

I bought a used Orbea Lobular team Euskaltel frame and built it up with Dura Ace 7800. It is the definition of "bike porn". I always wanted a bike that was just like the ones ridden in the Tour de France. This is very cool. I'm very glad that Orbea is a Co-Op and that the workers have a stake in the business. Thank you.

I realise that the factory tour is a bit of a cliche, but that one was well done...and I think Orbea would be happy. FWIW the Basque's have a long history of using a co-operative business model, and a pom, Robert Owen, is regarded as the originator of the concept.

I Was, but don't in Love with Orbea anymore, the steerer tube on my Orbea Ordu gets broken spontaneously, after appr. 9.000 km, inbetween traffic, lot of luck saves me.
OK, the bike was several years old, but in a very best shape - well maintained, but all parts original, tires, chain, brakepads.
I'd rode the Bike only on sunny sundays, only steets, quick up to 60 kmh on flat streets, even faster on roads downwards here in the Taunus-Hills.
I'm happy beeing still alive, not injured, but steerer tube braking without any kind of crash or impact should never should happen.
The Bike was original from the dealer. Now they told me I should have mounted the Fork wrong.
Now I'm not amused, the bike is dead. Just hazardous waste. Unfortunately.
Check out all carbon parts every 500 Km for smallest scratches or fissures !

Orbea Frames: More Engineering Ballcocks from Spain
Telling the truth about Orbea frames is called hatespeach by Orbea and CZcams in Spain..
In this video Orbea say some interesting things.
    1. They don't produce there frames themselves. -
-AD1: So they shop the marked of frame producers and get them to make an offer on there drawings and nummer of bikes they expect to sell.
    2. They don't do any quality control in the frame factory.
AD 2: Frame factories can earn that money any way they want. Even the cheapest way that they want.
    3. They say that they only do quality control on prototypes, first production and on the marked (what does that last thing even meen?).
AD 3: No, no, no you should messure every bottom bracket on every single frame you get home. Orbea ,you don't have any quality control.
Orbea don't say that every bottom barcket gets testet for being centeret, right size etc.
Not god. Not good at all.
