Tolarian Community College do you play D&D?
Its been a pleasure working with the Tolarian Community College and the Professor.
We are excited for everything coming up with Commander 2017 and hope to see more people enjoying the fun side of Competitive EDH.
Eldrazi Meditations? That's a real book? hahahah.
Tolarian Community College this is disgusting. I love it.
GOD that INTO was HILARIOUS! I have a tasigur deck that aims to do almost the same thing as this one, but I can definitely appreciate the knowledge dropped on me today, a bunch of tutors and a few cantrips and counters I had never seen before (also sire of insanity for my nekusaur deck!!) . OH the "fun" of competitive commander.
SO i gotta ask you prof, are you really more of a spike then or a Johnny? if it was your ideal situation would you enjoy a casual fun meta or a competitive 'i concede' meta? I ask because i struggle with this problem in my meta, and you strike me as a person able to switch gears depending on whats needed.
"Fun, casual format" gave me a hearty chuckle
"There is a finite amount of fun in every game of Magic, and I want to have all of it." - Glen Jones
Could I get the $4.000 version please?
We're gonna release the non-budget version over on our channel soon, so I'd recommend subscribing to the Laboratory Maniacs!
Cameron and I recorded our Unbudgetting video literally the day after we recorded this brew, so expect to see that coming up on our channel in the next month. We're a bit more strapped for time than someone as stellar as The Professor, but we're making it work haha.
radip you do realize come with installment plan with a promo card with a box of modern master
I want to know whats in this 4k "upgrade"
"Oh, but the next turn is yours!"
This is the kind of combo I can only expect from Satan himself.
I am an aggressively mediocre and just as casual EDH player, but this was still fun to watch!
We have a "power gamer/optimizer" in our group. He has no one else to play with, so he gets to play his expensive combo cascade thingy deck against us. He wins in no time with Aetherflux Reservoir, but we just mark our life totals before and let him have his win - and then the rest of us reset our life totals to where we were before he went off, and keep playing for another two hours.
It's not a perfect system, but we're casual enough that we don't need to gatekeep. He's a nice dude and him spending thousands on a deck in order to optimize it should not preclude him from getting to play. We just have to add a bit of nonsense wiggle room, and as filthy casuals, we don't mind doing that at all.
Does he just chill out and spectate while you all continue?
We do this at our local store as well. In a pod when someone wins with a combo we simply rewind to the latest board state before combo or win when appropriate and continue acknowledging the win. This is mostly to establish who earned second place as its impossible to determine that otherwise. :)
You guys are the best kind of playgroup. Let the guy have his day and everyone else gets to have fun anyway
This is one of the sweetest things I've ever read
As a Laboratory Maniac subscriber and a fan of cEDH, seeing Dan was a pleasant surprise. You got me! :D
Love the Lab Maniacs! I'm glad you teamed up with them!
Awesome to see your collaboration with the Lab Maniacs
I really like the deck concept. I really like how it's flexible enough to work with a lot of different budgets. I really like that The Combo is just one card.
But what I REALLY like is how fun and funny this video was! Well done everyone!
An all-out awesome video, well executed and laid out. Especially loved the "champion dance" terminology, makes it way simpler to grasp complex lines with some quirky names thrown into the mix!
It's also really great to see that one can brew a razor-sharp competitive EDH deck that is also innovative AND relatively cheap. Really goes to show that even at the most competitive levels you can still have ways to express yourself.
Serious kudos to both Professor and the Laboratory Maniacs for this collaboration, you guys deserve all the attention!
I was gonna thank a friendly stranger, but then I realised it's ma boi Leptys. 🐸👌
Ribbit. 🐸
Why was that opening so horrifyingly relatable?
Hooray, LabManiacs on TCC! This is a pairing I can get behind.
I haven't even watched this yet and I'm super pumped. This is the one commander I wanted you to make a video on.
I'm so happy that the Laboratory Maniacs are getting the mainstream spotlight they deserve!
They have the best EDH content on youtube followed closely by MTG Muddstah
Love cEDH, love this video, love the fact that you support Lab Maniacs Proff! Great content.
Wow.. It's nice to see the Prof with Lab Maniacs. Hope to see more competitive EDH / Commander in the future. :)
Thank you for this Prof!
I'm always impressed by the amount of production these videos have
This was actually a really great sketch, plus awesome tech. Congrats!
Ma boiz LabManiacs!!! Love cEDH. Love the collab. Top tier content LM & TCC!
The beginning was hilarious! i love the "have you tried unsleeving and resleeving the deck"
Your VHS/90's editing style always throws me back to my agriculture class. It's so weird but so satisfying.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. It's nice that all types of play get recognition. Good video
This is for sure an interesting deck tech to see. I'm currently working on a dream decklist for Kess that aims to be competetive. It uses the Doomsday combo to win. This video has some good info for me to keep in mind.
I'm sleeving this deck up now.
Really good video, good change of pace seeing a competitive list!
That deck was sick! subscribing to those maniacs right now
Not to put out your friends at the command zone but...this is an amazing decktech of which I haven't seen from them in a long time....
And I'm a filthy casual Jank EDH player.definitrly gonna subscribe to the lab maniacs!
Sweet Cameo by Dan! Go Go Lab Maniacs!
"Oh, I will have fun."
Loved the intro! ! ! AWESOME Video - and a brilliant deck tech!
that opening was great. quite entertaining. thanks.
I watched this for some ideas on my deck. I did put Obeka in mine, and I can definitely recommend that :)
I can only play with my kids so far...
So this is extreme for our games.
Enjoyed this video! I want that wizard as one of the 100.
Can't wait for the next!
OMG that intro! xD Great video! I'm trying to make a Inalla deck without been evil, so this came handy xD
I love your intros to your deck techs.
so what is the 4k decklist? :D
It's coming in a future LabManiacs video. Subscribe and you'll know when its available!!!
We're gonna release the Unbudgeting process for this deck over on our channel soon, so stay tuned!
Frank Fleischhacker it will be just like any other cEDH deck. Fully optimized land base with all duals, mana drain/force of will, all the expensive mana rocks like mox diamond, grim Monolith maybe, timetwister. Imperial seal, grim tutor maybe. That will get it to the 4k
Candlebra, lions eye diamond, city of traitors are some of the not yet mentioned expensive cards in an edh combo deck.
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/budgetless-inalla-reanimator/
I LOVE THE IT CROWD REFERENCE AT THE BEGINNING THERE :P
Evil wizards? I love it! You had me at "re-animator" 😊
I paused the video here at 2:47 to say this:
This is the best video I ever saw on CZcams. THE BEST
I don't care whats coming next, this 3 minutes were AWESOME.
Thank you, professor.
By thw way, we need you to come to brazil and drink some more caipirinhas!
They all say that commander is fun and causal, that's because they haven't seen the dead body's yet
Lizardoo nice pixle art (:
Tyler McGamer thanks
Sire of insanity is absolutely amazing. I love reanimating it in Bloodpod
I played a wanderwine prophets deck back when Lorwynn was Standard. So seeing that card made me squee with nostalgia! If only I hadn't lost that deck in a move :'(
holy moly that jab at modern format
The skits are HILARIOUS. My favourite part of the chanel.
Great guide Professor!
Awesome collaboration!
I prefer keeping Commander casual and friendly, but it's always interesting to see other strategies. Keep up the good work Prof!
I love how Inalla is a Grixis commander and Prof set the thumbnail background to Arcane Sanctum (Esper Tri-land).
haha the beginning joke sounds like my mono blue Venser control deck xD
Keeping 4 players in check at once is a real task, its like I am always the archenemy ^^
I have wanderwine prophets! I thought it was a sad bulk rare, can't wait to surprise my opponents with this at my game store
Just picked this up yesterday and now that this decklist is out i guess that i could spend a couple hundred dollars on this deck tech
"Oh I'll have fun..." And labritory manic appearance!!!
I love lab maniacs! Nice collab!
I think I'm only missing Inalla and the Wizard to build the entire deck. I'll surely try it!
Prof you are awesome!
My first out-of-the-box game with Inalla was against my friends and their normal commander decks. Not hyper competitive, but all well tuned with things much scarier than pretty much anything in a precon. The only thing keeping me alive was simply being the least threatening boardstate, and a handful of removal spells and board wipes, and spell and creatures that could let me recast or return those spells (the tribal, one-sided wipe was particularly brutal).
To make a long but epic story short, the game ended with me Spelltwine-ing Stormherd and then Puppeteer Clique-ing Craterhoof Behemoth on an open board. I had no expectation to win that game, but it ended beautifully.
Inalla's Eminence ability can be really fun, but there seems to be a lack of *great* non-legendary Wizards to really build a "competitive" tribal strategy.
"Oh.. I'll have fun..." I can't stop laughing ^_^
Dear Professor,
Could you talk about Edgar Markov in another video?
Please keep making these awesome commander videos!
Nice Collab video the lab maniacs are a cool channel for competitive commander
Ill get this updated completely eventually but it is definitely gonna happen
Thanks my nigga for teaching me magic the gathering especially on edh and just been playing for 1 month and learn a lot from you
I like to see selvala explorer returned deck tech :)
I'd love to see a Darien, King of Kjeldor EDH. Love the channel just subscribed
I've stumbled upon the card Feldon of the Third Path, and it quickly became one of my favorite cards of all time. I love the flavor text, the artwork, the reason going with the ability, everything about the backstory of a man created with one card is amazing. So, I was wondering, could you make a deck tech on Feldon? I've been trying to make a good artifact - affinity / rebound mono-red commander deck that could be amazing, and I was wondering how you would go about making such a deck. Thank you!
love these vidss love all your videos
I love this opening skit as someone who works at a call center.
Another good tutor for this combo: Merrow Harbinger
Great video and surprisingly interesting since I'm not much into wizards.
For the next video could you consider doing "Sydri, galvanic genius"? I think she has the potential to be a great general since her ability of ensouling artifacts and giving them deathtouch and lifelink
I clicked on this even though I wasn't too interested in seeing deck upgrades. Boy was that skit at the beginning worth it.
I really like the deck, and I plan on testing it myself! Have you considered the mesmeric orb + fatestitcher combo? It would seem to work fairly well in this reanimator shell and would not be terribly hard to implement into the deck. Thank you for this tech, and I hope to see more of this video style!
As a Comp EDH player, I, for the first time ever, tip my hat to you fellow non-cEDH playing EDH enthusiast :)
Good day to you sir.
XToverdrive Pubstomping is for people with weak character. The is this almost like unspoken rule among true cEDH folk to only seek out competition that can handle it. We are not monsters, just the unwanted bastard children of EDH, and taking out our frustration on poor casuals is bad is within bad taste.
B1gLupu I don't much get comp edh, but I like your attitude towards it. we have this carefully pruned garden of an EDH environment where I play. we're trying to speed it up a little though, we all like our control and combo decks so games can take like 2 hours :p
Valkhellas Yeah, pubstomping is a big nono. Pissing off people away from EDH benefits no one :)
Valkhellas as long as they aren't playing prison/stax decks that cost multiple thousand, I'm fine with it. My most competitive deck right now is a $100 mizzix combo deck followed by jhoira wielding a bunch of fat things like eldrazi with wipes like jokulhops and jank along the lines of time sifter and omen machine
I am using your Grand Arbiter primer. So yes, I am rather sadistic myself.
Would love to see the full upgraded no budget versions of your decks
A competitive Edgar markov no budget would be great to see
Ahansonification is was a good upgrade but I'm pretty sure we can do better. I watched it yesterday. That was a funny podcast
DH Zero Don't anticipate it. TCG only just released Olivia Voldaren vampire EDH.
Now in 2019 exist one
The skit at the beginning had me on the floor and this deck tech is possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen!!! So awesome Prof
This video made Wanderwine prophet go from 2 dollars to 20 dollars! great content professor! Keep up the good work!
Kenneth Lawson possible 2 dollars to banned. Turn 0 win edh decks are just a no go in multiplayer commander
If you haven't checked out much of our content over at the Lab Maniacs, you may not know, but this combo with Inalla isn't even close to the same power as many of the commonly played cEDH decks. Most, if not all, of the aggressive (in the sense that they try and win early and fast) decks in the format have multiple Turn 1 kills with redundancy. Wanderwine Prophet is far less threatening, and not remotely deserving of a ban, in my opinion.
I wouldn't say its ban worthy. its going to be a single addition to my already OP Inalla deck. I'm running 6 different combos. All 2-3 piece combos. gilded lotus, cloudstone curio, eathermage, fatestitcher. All do something infinite together. heck. Rite of replication and duel caster mages goes infinite. Grixis has amazing value to offer.
What is the turn one combo that will win the game .
Mairsil.deck was my choice from the precon for the flavor. This cycle of decks is my favorite design. I know players love actual cycles, but sometimes that just leads to lackluster decks trying to do the same things. MaRo has even mentioned previously how having to force the rest of a cycle out leads to less than perfect designs and almost guaranteed bummers somewhere in the group. I'd much rather get 4 different ones like this time.
Also we got Ramos, O-Kagachi and Mairsil hell to the yes
Heres some combos I built in my deck.
Sedraxis Alchemist + Ashnod's Altar with Inalla to keep the board clean.
Isochron Scepter or Elite Arcanist + Dramatic Reversal + Sol Ring is a very good untap engine.
Isochron Scepter or Elite Arcanist + Paradox Engine + Sol Ring with any imprint instant aswell.
Omniscience + Aether Adept or Venser, Shaper Savant + Altar of the Brood to mill.
Omniscience + Aether Adept or Venser, Shaper Savant + Vela the Night-Clad to drain opponents.
Omniscience + Cloudstone Curio + Vela the Night-Clad + Anathemancer to kill. Or Any two Wizards to make infinite ETB + Altar of the Brood to mill. Pretty much the easiest way to spam the ETB.
Omniscience + Cloudstone Curio + Laboratory Maniac + Merchant of Secrets draw to win.
Omniscience + Cloudstone Curio + Archaeomancer + Reality Shift to mill opponents.
Isochron Scepter or Elite Arcanist + Paradox Engine + Sol Ring. Imprint almost any 2 cmc on Isochron Scepter or Elite Arcanist to activate infinite Tap/Untap
Isochron Scepter or Elite Arcanist + Paradox Engine + Sol Ring + Reality Shift to mill out opponents.
Isochron Scepter or Elite Arcanist + Paradox Engine + Sol Ring + Counterspell to lock out opponents.
Isochron Scepter or Elite Arcanist + Paradox Engine + Sol Ring + Docent of Perfection infinite Wizard tokens.
Inalla, Archmage Ritualist + Ashnod's Altar + Bloodline Necromancer instant kill.
Dualcaster Mage + Rite of Replication infinite copies. If Altar of the Brood is in play then all opponents are milled.
Dualcaster Mage + Ghostly Flicker infinite ETB/ Untap all lands to cast more spells.
Meekstone helps allot when setting up your combos. Majority of the Wizards have power 2, if you need to attack it's easy to return it to you hand with a Cyclonic Rift or Venser, Shaper Savant also really isn't a problem if you have the untap engine up and running.
Propaganda or Dissipation Field are other options.
All these combos that use ETB just get insane with Inalla, Archmage Ritualist and even worse with Panharmonicon
How do you remember all those combos when playing a game? I would forget most (but then I am very forgetful)
They are all cool combos too - how often do you pull one off?
Bob Hart lol I sat and built it up so was easy to remember. It was very consistent with some tutors and card draw engines. I won 2 out of 3 games against the other new commanders built up as well. Our one match lasted 4 hours and all of us felt we were really putting in our best.
Doré Burger yup, missing a few cards here but almost done. I like having my opponents know whats coming if they dont deal with my wizards asap!
I'm fond of Dualcaster Mage + Opponent's Tutor to Search Ghostly Flicker and an Infinite Mana outlet.
Gabriel Rockefeller haha myself. But I like having decent competition so I show them how to deal with my combos or shut me down. That's the thing with combos, if a piece is missing you're in trouble.
Dan's hair changes REEEEE continuity pls.
I'm thinking of taking a shell similar to this and adding in a doomsday package as well.
pls do that for each of the new decks
I want to see the most competitive version of this deck please Lab maniacs :)
“The combo involves more than a bit of Stack tomfoolery”
Hoooo boy, you should see the new Spellseeker lines
Do you ever plan on showing us a complete deck collection video? I wonder what the professor of such a profound school has?
I was a smidge disapointed that there wasnt the "Castle of Dr. Weird" music when the Labratory maniacs castle aas shown, but otherwise Oh my god this video......
I was sitting around with a few friends and one of them preordered all of the 2017 decks, I almost won. I had a 17/6 Monstrous Fleecemane Lion with Lifelink, Haste, Trample, Hexproof, and Indestructible. My wizard friend turned all of my creatures into frogs and used Nin to kill my lion.
Bahahahahhahahah! Omgg.....
"Have you tried unsleeving and resleeving your deck"
Hahahha im dying over here. Oh man. Too good. Best magic channel on youtube!
Me when playing Commander. "I want them to suffer."
Yes man!
I really Love your guides professor. Could you do The Atraxa proliferate deck. Maybe not much infect. Thank You.
I enjoy some of these bits lol
God I love profs videos! XD "I want my enemies to suffer!" rofl
Really liked this XD
Could you do a Thassa Commander Deck video at some point? :) Thassa was a card I pulled back when I didn't know Magic at all and somehow I kept her in good shape and years later discovered how much I liked her long after Theros rotated and I really want to see if she's viable what a good deck would look like for her. Love your stuff, keep it coming, thanks for all the videos!
I actually ran her in my own version of this Inalla deck before to help with the decks consistency as I didn't have cards like Vampiric Tutor and Mystic Remora. Her ability to make a creature unblockable helps you force through the wanderwine prophets combo should your opponent play a critical mass of creatures.
you also could fill this with non wizzards if you have a xenograft naming wizzards it will make all creatures wizzard in addition to thier other types
I suggest an EDH deck tech for Rosheen Meanderer. I recently made a deck for her from scratch, and all the X-cost spells are a blast to play.
Hi Professor, can you do a video on Arahbo, Roar of the World please? That legendary creature is the reason why I want to get into the format.
"I want them to suffer" I love this! I laughed so hard.
The professor should really cover some more obscure commanders. The main one I wanna see put into a deecent deck is Lord of Tresserhorn.
"Win on turn one" me: what? Prof: "you heard me." Damn. You're good, P.
How ?
