  • In this insightful TEDx Talk, Mary Page Wilson-Lyons shares an idea that the words we use to speak about a complex subject like poverty affects how we think, and thus act, about it. She proposes that if we find different words, we can create a different world.
Mary Page Wilson-Lyons is a Program Director at The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham and works to empower women and their children to move beyond poverty. She has long had a passion for exploring the systemic causes of women’s issues and addressing the violence and chronic poverty that many Birmingham women face.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

In my quest for knowledge of ancient and real "magic", I am finding a lot of self-talk and language having everything to do with framing of the mind. It's not about directly manipulating the environment around you per se, but about framing your mind to automatically do the things necessary to do what you need and entice others to do the same, to achieve goals.

It's a miracle what her words can do to me.
Words = arrangements of letters = symbols
If no meaning -> make meaning through experience.

That is a great subject and I totally agree. The solution would be to involve everybody as a community in which everybody is equal in spite of personifying the mission by implying an authority that creates a hierarchy in the organization as you propose.
