- I think most of my videos are going to be based off of music, they are just the things that inspire me to make videos. I've had a relatively free week so I got to upload this project that has been pretty on and off. It's been in the making forever and I'm finally glad I get to put something out. I came back to this channel to see such significant growth and i'm so happy so many of you enjoy my content. Thanksgiving break is next week and I will make sure to upload during that period. Thank you all for sticking with me!

These comments have been becoming very common since this video came out and I would like to clear the air on some of the things I said on this video.
1. Looking back I can see why people think I dont like VDC. I called it a jumbled mess, unberable to listen to, and saying it was debatable for its quality. I can 100% say that this was a fault of bad script writing and totally misconstrued my idea of VDC. I actually think VDC is one of the best albums I have ever listened to, its full of glitchy goodness that can’t be ignored. I guess what I was trying to say in this video was that the “glitchy” and “unbearable” parts was actually the best part of the album. The album does such an amazing job of being atmospheric, experimental, and catchy all at the same time. It’s beautiful and I apologize for completely undermining its brilliance in this video. I guess I was so focused on getting the video out I never had the time to expand upon my script.
2. I’m still growing much more as a SCRIPT WRITER than editing. The quality control mostly goes into the visual aspect of these videos. I like to think of this channel as a collective journal of all the thoughts that come to my mind about anything so keep in mind that what i say in the video has the staying power of a diary.
3. Other than the comments RIGHTFULLY criticizing my view on VDC I would like to thank the rest of y’all for the support on this video and my channel. We all came to this video because we love sweet trip and I’m glad so many had a common interest in this band. I would have never thought that such a niche topic would be one of my most viewed videos.
I hate black people too!

Makes me wanna cry just thinking about it
Velocity : design : comfort.
I didn’t like it at first.
Now I LOVE it
Darkness comes to murder the sunshine, Darkness comes to help me believe
VDC is easily one of my all time favorites
It blows my mind to see Sweet Trip getting the love they've always deserved. I personally love how varied VDC was, and while I'm completely satisfied with the refined pop sensibility on YWNKW, its predecessor is definitely notable for its use of shoegaze/dreampop's more intimate, human core to break from the IDM abstraction. I'm sure every artist loves their latest work best, but I'd argue VDC is the band's magnum opus.
Halica doesn't get enough props for how good it is but this was kinda neat. For those who are wondering Roby and Valerie have been working on a re-release of VDC as well as new music. This is one of their interviews that conducted going into their music and other details. czcams.com/video/ZURI9VIoUlk/video.html
I think you did Velocity : Design : Comfort a massive disservice. The fact that it’s messy does not make it more of a “flawed” album. It’s actually what makes it a perfect album. This glitchy and experimental style is what continues to set it apart from other albums. Think of it as like a sonic representation of a cubist painting or something of that nature. YWNKW has always been seen by me as largely inferior. It seems as if Sweet Trip completely ditched what made them so ahead of their time and innovative and opted to make a by the numbers and unoriginal dream pop album. I still appreciate the fact you were willing to cover them even though I disagree with most of the points of the video. They really need more representation.
Man, I'm slightly torn about this video lol. I'm always glad to see Sweet Trip getting more recognition, but dang you did VDC dirty. In all fairness, that's not too different from my initial reaction to VDC, and at first I just fell in love with YWNKW, but over time VDC grew on me more and more until it became my favorite album period, so I totally encourage you (or anyone) to give it another chance.
Bro I love you
Sweet Trip is for the squad 😤
Soooo about your comment about VDC: "Music-wise, this album is almost unbearable to listen [to] with the normal ear."
It's not really that Sweet Trip's music is super experimental or weird (even though their blending of genres is quite unique), it's just that they were more inspired by electronic and IDM musicians like Aphex Twin, Autechre, Seefeel etc. rather than by rock music, so perhaps if you are an inveterate rock listener this would be a reasonable reaction, but in a video titled "A closer look at Sweet Trip" I feel like it's quite an ignorant thing to say tbh. Sorry.
Exactly I have normal ears and I jam that shit nonstop
Yeah, I got into this album when I was a kid who hadn't listened to anything but rock before. It's a very welcoming album for people who enjoy stuff with that kind of texture.
v:d:c gave me some strange anxiety the first time i listened to it, which then developed into a deep confused love for it.
enjoying the album takes some effort because at first it's hard to digest the noise and listen to the melody (aside from having a very loud and experimental first song which pretty much scares away or give a bad impression to everyone i recommend the album), but it's not as messy and unbearable as some people picture it, i would actually argue that it's incredibly harmonical and that even some of the songs i dislike the most have something to fall in love with.
you said "run away"
instead you get scared
for the way that i feel

i recently started listening to sweet trip after discovering them on accident pretty much and have enjoyed them greatly, and found a dope new music video essay channel. a badass night for sure. although i have been listening to sweet trip for about a month now lol.
YWNKW & VDC for life!
Dsco is my favorite. The production is so crunchy and sharp it’s like nothing I’ve ever heard
Thank you! I've been obsessed with this band for almost a year now. Something like this had to be made.
Yo this band had such a messy downfall with horrific abuse by the hands of that male lead singer. Shocking stuff...
With time, the recent news will be subsumed by the beauty of their music
@@BlizzyFoxTF I hope so. there's still so much mystery surrounding it all. Sucks the lead singer was such a creepy f*cker, i can't listen to the new album without hearing a weird one sided love letter.
@@kookythymes2838 very sad, they have been good friends for so many years, made so much acclaimed music together, and now for this to ruin their legacy... I refuse for this to destroy the good times, and the good music.
@@BlizzyFoxTF Agreed. I believe Valerie made a comment about how she still wants people to listen to the music. They're too good to put away forever!
@@kookythymes2838 Yeah that album used to be my favourite but now I just find it so creepy it’s sad because it’s a good album It just makes me uncomfortable

Holy shit. To this day i still cannot express my love for this group. They are the only band to truly hit me in my core.
They’re making a huge comeback rn
Great video! I found their song "Milk" a year ago, but haven't gotten around to listening to their other stuff. I'm going to listen to the full album now

Great video!
this channel needs more subs and views.
I love this band sm
literally the best
Great video bro
Good vid sir!
Vdc is easily my favorite album, and it seems like thats true for others too. I think the pure genius of sweet trip is mixing idm into rock and indie sounds, and them taking out the idm makes it substantially less appealing. I like most songs on ywnkw but i live all the songs on vdc. Like the pure energy from having idm songs or rhythms with driving lyrics and solid bass and guitar parts makes it so enjoyable. Ywnkw is great but only some of its songs create the same emotion of potential energy and nuance. Id say ywnkw is probably much more palatable to people coming from rock and prog seeing as almost all of its songs are instrumental
love chocolate matter so much
I’ve never clicked on a video so dam fast in my life
glad this video exists
Glass Beach is a post-emo band that takes light influence from sweet trip. You may wanna check them out.
The internet's best-kept secret, and should probably stay that way forever.
Wow so many dreampop & shoegaze bands use Jazzmasters. Hoping to get my hands on one soon!
i don’t understand i think every song on vdc catchy and and awe inspiring
Care to elaborate on VDCs many flaws? To me it's a flawless masterpiece. To average ear.... maybe, I still think most people could appreciate at least Dsco and Chocolate Matter. But I happen to really like electronic music, and as it goes Sweet Trip isn't really that harsh or abrasive if you compare to a song like Ventolin by Aphex Twin (absolute banger! btw), some of it is positively Zen and chilled like Sept. Certain bits remind me of "future pop" and the whole thing pre-minds of that KKB album (Time and Place) that mixes shoegaze and electronics. VDC is experimental but very in tune, it has hooks and melodies. By "unbearable to normal ears" - do you mean when you're sober lol? Because this album becomes completely and utterly next level if you're tripping. One of the best musical experiences was listening to this on really amplified the robotic and "cold" elements of this album.
YEEEESS YYESSSSS YESSSSS YESSSSS YESSSS YTESSSSY YESSSS YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

dont understand how people who prefer ywnkw over vdc even like sweet trip in the first place. its especially annoying to hear you refer to vdc as "unbearable to listen to" and "a jumbled mess" while praising YWNKW for basically just being standard dreampop that loses all the identity that sweet trip had on their first albums. also seems weird to not even mention Halica, especially since its such a more unique and interesting album than YWNKW.
ywnkw is still nonetheless really good. they are both good in their own right.
whats wrong with dreampop?
Ywnkw is part of sweet trip's discography so its part of their identity, i don't get your comment, I like both albums btw.
Shoegaze and dreampop is actually almost the same thing but shoegaze uses more distorcion.
THATKID YOUDONTKNOW ywnkw completely lacks the idm/glitch and ambient elements that made Halica and VDC so memorable and interesting. YWNKW is basically just a beach house record with less synths
Pixl Agreed
Can't we just preserve it instead of instigating? The less people know of ST the better.
why? everyone deserves to listen to sweet trip they’re amazing, i think gatekeeping would be selfish and evil
