"someone else's head", "a special someone", "a very special person", "a. love. letter." after what valerie's husband has shared recently, NOW WE SEE HOW CREEPY THIS IS! the way he talks about valerie. if he didnt think of her as more than a friend, why will he keep this so cryptic? he was obsessed.
this album was really not cryptic at all. everybody thought roby and valerie were in love (roby literally called this album a "love letter" in every interview) and nobody had any idea she had been married for 20 years until the husband came out of nowhere. Anyone can call anything creepy in retrospect but "idee fixe" musical love obsessions are as old as time. Hector Berlioz wrote his magnum opus "Symphonie fantastique" while high on opium thinking about a girl that rejected him a hundred times. What's so special about this album is that Roby managed to get his muse, his unrequited love, to sing for him on his compositions. I don't think that has ever happened in world history.
I agree with our friend, I don't think it's scary, or weird. Listening to the compositions we can feel the lyrics of the songs as something very intimate and personal, it seems that they are one voice. I think because she's in a relationship, and he has feelings for her, it helped him write and dream about what it would be like to have the one he loves, living that pain makes the songs more meaningful. I'd rather see it this way than just find it disgusting and pretend it's worthless.
I like the meaning Robbie gave to Milk, it’s very creative and endearing, but i prefer to think of it as two lovers, who despite promising eachother they will remain close if they break up, they both know inevitably they’ll drift away
Robbie seems like a nice guy from the interviews ive seen and he is ofc an extremely creative individual. But when it comes down to it, especially when it comes to Valerie, he is extremely obsessive, creepy, and terrible. I love his music and he has inspired my songwriting abilities so much, but I absolutely hate him for what he did, it gives a very dark and disturbing vibe to VDC and YWNKW whenever you hear him and it's not the good kind that adds to the albums in a good way
