    Really like the barn idea. Keeps the hay dry and the gravel keeps the bottom from getting moist.

      The hoop barns have been the best investment we've made on the farm by far

      We are lucky enough to have one ten miles from the farm that typically has a good amount of parts in stock. However, we too have had to be disappointed many times with an item being out of stock. The joys of farming with a time crunch! lol

    OH those poor bulls!! Oh well. It's a rotten job but somebody has to do it!! I noticed they seemed resigned to do their duty no matter what. That is dedication for sure. Semper Fi!! Gosh, that alfalfa really went down hill as soon as you moved away from the fence!! Any bales is good bales, but some is gooder than others!! Wish there were a better way to get some good nutrients into that field.

      You're right that any bale is better than no bale! This fall we're going to be adding aggregated lime and then adding fertilizer in the spring. That will get the fields in top shape to produce equally nice hay. Thank you for watching!

    How do you guys like that hoop for hay storage? What is the life expectancy of the top?

    Well I have to say never saw stabbing two bales with a front loader before. Pretty awesome.

    • @cripplecreekfarmsky
      @cripplecreekfarmsky  Před rokem +2

      Having him load up two rolls at once actually saves us a lot of time out in the field! We also have a double spear for the rear 3 point hitch so on larger fields we can bring back four rolls in one trip from the back of a field instead of just two. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts with us!

    How long the hay stay fresh? Do you use irrigation for the field ?

    • @cripplecreekfarmsky
      @cripplecreekfarmsky  Před 7 měsíci

      If properly cut and rolled and it is stored in a barn, up to 2 years typically

      We love the hoop barns. They were pretty easy to assemble and the initial dragging the cover over the hoop structure was easier than we had thought it would be. The life expectancy of the cover should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 15 years depending on which manufacturer you use. We ordered ours from Kentucky Hoop Barns and have no regrets. Thank you for watching!
