New Holland rakes make that noise too. We tried the "putting grease on that silver tube" method and it didn't really help. Now it's just messy.
Seems like they could have put some changable poly tubing over the metal one huh?

I admire you and your dads relationship, he seems like a good dad
I am stuck in the house for a couple of weeks after having knee surgery. Your videos give me something to look forward to. Love your channel keep up the good work.
Hope you heal quickly Jerry!
Dear Brian and Cole … Thank you for such great content. I grew up working hogs, throwing square bails, cutting tall heads, walking beans, and running equipment from age 12. Dad had a small farm with no real way for me to come into the business. I will live vicariously through your farm :) … you do it right!!
Sounds great!
Ways to fix the rake squeak. 1. Wax. Only temporary. 2. Cut off the rod rings. Install larger rings with nylon bushings. Time consuming and somewhat expensive. 3. Edit out the sound during that portion of the video. A hassle and not keeping it real. 4. Ignore any future complaints having given a fair explanation. Easy peasy. : )
I sure do enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I like the "ignore" part. Good job!
yes number 4 it is
Thank you for your reply enjoy watching your family , your dad is grate teacher and friend from what I see, love to meet mom some time, you know she is very important to the farm as well. Keep up the good work from Oklahoma.
Thanks!
I have seen some guys pull a canola swath roller behind a wheel rake. Works good.
Thank you for treating you machines as an extension of family ❤
Squeak gives it character!😉 plus you like your rake. No worries!
So soothing watching hay being mowed, raked and baled. Brilliant aerial shots and seeing the happy 😊 cattle 🐮 eating the grass. Sorry 😐 to hear that you couldn’t find your dime/nickel 💰got a good bolt though! Glad to see Ellie walking better.
Glad you enjoyed it
Another great video Cole can’t wait to check out the merchandise
It’s nice to see you doing what you both enjoy doing love the music with the drone very comforting
Thanks 👍
Cut my hay over a week ago, there was no rain in the forecast for 10 days when I cut it. so far it has had 3" of rain on it! wont be much good by the time I get to bale it. Just the way it goes sometimes. Yall made some good looking hay.
Ain't that the craps
Excellent video. Love the sense of humor that you both have. Keep it up.
Thanks so much!
Time to head to Mitchell and pick up a new Alkota Pressure Washer. Worth the money. Love your drone footage Cole. Some of the best I've seen on CZcams.
Thanks 👍
@@SonneFarms what drone are you using? I just got a Mavic mini... hoping to do a few hunting and ranching videos with it.
Sonne Farms hey cole
Cole, I love watching your videos, mainly because of you and your dad and the way you two interact! But I have to say, you have some damn nice machinery as well.
They keep their machinery nicely.
Beautiful color in this video, drone shots made farming look like art!
Thank you very much!
You said “it got rubbed raw cause I was pullin on it so many times....”. I burst out laughing! I had to point that out.
Cole you and your Dad keep up the grease program. I just retired after 28 years as a jet aircraft mechanic for a major airline. We grease aircraft based on cycles and hours flown. You can tell the corrosion and wear on aircraft parts when the grease program fails for one reason or another.
Very interesting! Thanks
As a proud graduate of M.I.T. ( Manny's Institute of Tires), I have put a tremendous amount of thought and research into your squeaking problem. Ok... maybe not a lot of thought, but neighbor Ned and I went through a 30 pack of Genesee while we talked about it. I came up with what I consider a perfect solution to your problem. I can't ask Ned for his opinion because he passed out and fell off his tree stump after the 14th beer and now his Dog , Rufus, is laying dead groundhogs on him to keep him warm. But, my solution is this... just dont pick up the rake or set it down. Just pick a position and leave it there till you either trade it off or quit farming and get into the Slappy Repair Business ( I'm sure you could get an SBA loan). Hey.. no need to thank me for all my assistance. I'm glad I could help. One thing tho... if somebody could help me drag Ned off the railroad tracks before the 8:15 train comes through, I'd appreciate it.
If you tie a rope around Ned's foot and the other end to his dog's collar, then yell squirrel and the dog will take off running and yank him off the tracks. You're welcome.
@@dalegereaux1863 you have a very good idea, but Neds head keeps on bouncing off the railroad ties and he's still between the rails and now the dog has wrapped his leash around the rail switch and the gates are flashing
@@alexdrake9931 my bad! I forgot to tell you to point in the direction you want the dog to run when you yell squirrel. It's probably time to get out your pocket knife and cut the leash so at least you can save the dog. You don't want people labeling you as a dog killer. Condolences to mrs. Ned.
@@dalegereaux1863 I truly appreciate all your advice. I got Rufus cut away. Luckily, when the train came, ned was what we call " Busch limp" . He was deep enough in the rails that the train went over him without any serious consequences. The only problem was the steel plate in Neds skull hit one of the air lines on the train and now Norfolk and Southern wants 76 dollars. As far as Neds wife, she just bought extra insurance on him. She will just have to go back to putting DCON in his sausage gravy to cash in
You and Dale working on a comedy routine?😆
Sure a good feeling, when you know that all that hard work pays off, on that cold winter morning when you unrolled that bail and caught a smell of summer in that cold winter air.
you nailed it
Hi guys, check out "dry graphite spray" for the squeaking problem.
Beat me by 5 days.
I ran a rowse rake a lot. It squeaks too. You guys described it right. I wish I could come help I enjoy cutting and raking hay
I love the rapport between you and your dad. I’m buying some bred heifers this fall and I’ve been planning on Herefords but you guys almost make me want some angus heifers.
Ooooo
@@SonneFarms Brian, do you know if your Angus can be traced back to the Erdmann Angus,? Albert Erdmann was a dairy farmer near Wetonka, SD. One day he decided to see if he could get a bigger Angus by crossbreeding Holsteins with Angus. He kept it up until he finally had a purebred Angus, not an Aberdeen Angus thus the name Erdmann Angus. He and his sons had their annual fall bull and heifer sale in the fall on their farm. This was back in the '70 when I still lived in SD.
@@SonneFarms ppppp⁰
Great images. Thanks for letting everyone see what a day on the farm looks like.
We have a rowse. Squeaks too. Put dry graphite on the area where it’s metal on metal. Seems to help
I really enjoy all of your video but the drone shots with that music is just beautiful. It may sound corny but it brings me calming and peace. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Glad to hear!
I love your video’s and channel! You guys are a hardworking, do what it takes family and I have a ton of respect for that! The tractor in the background, the green grass, the cows...beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Nice video! Our new Holland hay rake has grease fittings on the bars. Doesn’t squeak at all.
Watching haying is so incredibly comforting. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome awesome vlog. Love the drone footage. The cattle and bailer in the back ground fantastic.
Glad you enjoyed it
being from Maine it amazes me how flat and beautiful it is out there. the drone footage is my favorite. thanks.. too bad Dad didn't get any supper. lol
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always 🌞 Farms!!!!
Much appreciated
Excellent music Cole! And some beautiful shots - great work with the drone.
Thanks a lot!
Love the vid I’m on vacation I saw you raking the other day
Some beautiful drone shots combined with the right music. Good work!
Thanks a lot!
Yes he has got some beautiful pictures from the drone
That model of rake with sun wheels is, in my opinion, the best model.
It has been around for a long time, I don't know how long, but it was there in the 60s anyway.
Those are some nice windrows. Looked a little wet but what the hell do I know. I'm sitting here with my feet up enjoying another quality video from Sonne Farms. Thank you gentlemen.
lol thankyou
Right on
@@SonneFarms love your channel. Your an awesome dude. Keep it up
Guess I never thought about raking hay in the wind would be difficult. Thanks for pointing that out!
Hello Sonne Farms, I really have learnt a lot regarding hay production from watching your videos. Much appreciated. I am planning to start producing hay here in Botswana and I constantly watch related videos. Keep sharing guys
Best of luck!
Gotta be the best music ever! At 13:30mins that music should be your signature tune. It just gives the feeling of a beautiful farming day! Love it! Keep up the great work! 👍🏼,
Glad you enjoy it!
I just snapped out of it, I was completely mesmerized. Thanks for explaining the rake squeal! What a marvelous piece of engineering? And despite my criticism the rake seems to run just fine. Nice looking hay!
All that was missing was some tedding.😈
Haha!
It’s crazy to me how fast you guys can grow hay. Takes us forever to grow that much in the south 😂
Hot and dry weather.
I like your rake cole, don’t let them get to you.
Great video! I finished today with the first cut. Here in the italian alps we‘re not so fast as you! Great even fields, great drone shots, great editing!!!
Greetings from south tyrol, the northest part of italy
Wolfgang
Nice work!
Gotta love haying Videos! 🌽🇺🇸
Great drone footage. Enjoyed seeing the long view of the field and the all the rows of hay from up high. The baler really goes a good job of picking up all the hay in the rows, very clean.
You bet
We have no problem with the squeek, its part of using a machine, no? or just put music in the background, that will take care of it! LOVE your videos, the drone footage is amazing. Thank you for walking us through the steps of the process and letting us into your world! I admire your relationship with your father ♡♡
I guess our Weather Radar isn't the only one messed up, No rain for 2 days, that night we had .5 in
Yea it stinks!
We enjoy watching everything you post....it's kept our mind off the craziness of the rest of the world and problems...to see real, honest working folks just being themselves. Thanks for the sanity! 😎
I appreciate that
Drone shots and music were just right. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 👍
Great video of drone footage, really enjoyed the aerial views.
Absolutely love your drone footage......spectacular country side. You gotta love summer.
Thanks 👍
Great video. Super drone work with awesome music. Thanks.
Thanks 👍
Great video guys
Thanks for watching
Selfie shot perfect for autograph cards.
Oh, watch where you stepping Cole. The poo got the best of you again.
Here in michigan we do round and mostly large square bales . We haul the squares in a quad axle grain truck with hydraulic end gate . We can haul 15 to 18 large square bales at a time. We bale 300 acres of grass and alfalfa plus we custom bale straw . I'm currently runing our discbine on a custom job while watching your video using GPS. Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !
Very awesome! Have fun
The nickel will rise again! lol!
Always like the drone footage. Well done as usual.
Wooooooooo! New video!
People telling y'all should grease your equipment or its too cheap etc should mind their own buisness. Y'all keep up the good work 👌💪
Thanks Clay!
That is some beautiful green pasture for them cows but you thanks for the video cole🤓
Your dad is funny. Could you next time pls ask him to tell the generator story again?
That rake is the exact design of my Heston rake. Mine is 25 years old and has made that noise every day it’s been used. It’ll last no matter what. Unless you have the hydraulics turned up too high - it will pound those arm stops to death in short order. Most of mine are welded and farmerized with some scrap pieces welded in to help out.
Great drone shots, love it when the bells are being released 😀
Thanks a lot!
Great video, Cole! Awesome drone footage, too.
Thanks a ton!
Awesome video TY for sharing
Really liked the drone footage you guys have a beautiful place
Great quality video!
The dad joke on your dad about hay 😂 and a little squeaking never hurt anyone..
Enjoyed!
Them drone shots are always awesome, i end up re-watching just the drone parts of the video
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful photography
I am impressed that Jeff can switch mow. Many of us older guys are too stuck mowing to the right. Even with my switch mower these days I still can mow to the left. 😂
We had one and it knotted the hay so we bought a big new Holland double rotary rake does the same size swath but makes a really really nice windrow
Tell em to "shove off ye wanker!" 😂 some Irish saying my husband heard. Seems fitting! Lol
This was really a enjoyable video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video. Thanks! 😊
the windrow packer has already been invented. It's used on canola in Canada.
Its a video like this that keeps my dream alive, working some hay with my babies over my shoulder....living the dream man!
Enjoyed very much...thank you!
Our pleasure!
Grease is cheaper than parts, here is a ideal for your rake, we use 3m silicone spray on things at work, unlike grease or oil it dont draw dust, just a thought
Here in germany some farmers use a roller in front of the tractor while baling. It isnt there because of the wind obvisously, but to compact the hay when the rows are to high for the baler.
The rollers not there because of the baler it's so the hay doesn't drag on the under carriage of the tractor.
Ok, thanks 👍
Its so satisfying
You guys are GREAT greasers!!!!!!
You make great drone videos. I had a drone that flew away.
It was four years ago and I am still waiting for it to come back.
👍 You 2 keep up the good work the cattle appreciate it!
Cole, 1,700/1 likes beats your best of 1,500/1. May be the record all-time CZcams high.
I bet a tiny shot of fluid film, wiped on the metal with a rag would quiet it up and not have dust collect. Love the vids! Great job! Thanks
Drone footage is mint👌🏻👌🏻
Did the Robin Eggs hatch on whatever piece of machine the nest was built on?
Cole, 750/1 likes says it all!!!!! It will go higher, it has before! Where is the merch - push the merch!
nice drone work / music , your camera editing is getting professional
Awesome drone footage!!
Thanks 👍
Awesome video thanks FOR sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Usually rains when we cut too so you're not alone haha
Thats the way it always goes. Either that or it rains after you rake it.
If it's OK to ask, how many acres do you farm? Trying to get a grasp of the scope. Thanks!
Haha Cole! My daughter says her brother is your doppelganger! Great informative video as always! 🤘From Canada!
No way!
@@SonneFarms Cole, you should learn to speak Canadian then you guys should switch places and see if the parents notice. 😉
I saw a video the other day off a rake with roller in the middle in the back like you were talking about.
GOD BLESS SONNE FARMS FAMILY
Thanks Douglas, GOD bless you as well
Good video and good looking hay!
Thanks 👍
