At least with the Toyota everything is serviceable at a fairly low cost and a little bit of research and brainpower...but GM's man what were they thinking besides $$$ at the dealership which hurts. I've owned two and now with this change it's time to stay away. On a side not did you notice you're air plenum was heavier than expected when removed? I think it's all caked in old deposits as it's all at the back by the pickup line on the passenger side. Horrible routing and just a bad design let's hope this fixes the stalling issues I have on a 3.7L with just under 30K KM's on it! @@androidtv7775 It's insane for sure!
      I was a big fan of GM for many years. Easy to work on and low cost price, but I would say from 1995 they dropped the ball big time.
      Not sure if the import were killing them, but the quality and engineering took a big drop.
      I wouldn't be suprise if they got a few stats out saying that they get more money from the repair and maintenance and that became their moto.
      When they released the 3.5/3.7 it felt weird, I was driving around with the 4.3, and it was a decent engine. Not made for speed (if you forget about the cyclone haha mean machine), but it was a really good working engine.
      Right now, I see the Toyota 4l doing a really decent job. They have a tendency not to change what's working, and I can respect that.
      I just hope the electric vehicle will be a new age of decent engine.
      I'm starting to think about doing a review for the Bronco and maybe get my hand on the elecrtic hummer. I'm not having big expectation, hoping to be surprise.

      Awesome and I completely agree...GM is horrible now! This is only the second GM I've owned the first being a Buick Regal GS...that car was amazing! It was kind of difficult to work on and all kinds of stuff broke on it but the engine (3600/3800 can't remember) was bulletproof...today, forget it!
      I love my Toyota and really think its the best car I've ever owned but its showing its age in the body as a 2005. The GMC I have I just need to get running and get it sold because if I told you how few KM's it has on it and is already causing problems you'd be amazed...complete SH*T!
      Seeing you do some reviews would be awesome (I love the way the new Bronco looks) but with your technical skills and ability to explain I hope you keep doing the DIY repair videos...they are so well done in comparison to others.
      Stay safe and take care out East and who knows maybe you'll see me there one day. Its definitely time for a move out of ON and was thinking NB or NS are good alternatives it just depends on job opportunities and cost of living...here as I'm sure you know, its nuts!

      If you put an 5efa engine, did you try to do a quick OBD1 scan for codes? An OBD2 scanner could work depending on the year of the wiring harness and year of the ecm.
      Anything under 1996 is the OBD1 connector. 1996 engines and earlier (1996-2024) os OBD2.
      Try with a scan first and check the codes that pops. This could help to narrow the possible problems here.

    Can you explain the whole deal about the belt spinning again? Do you mean we need to look at all the pulleys and make sure they're all turning with the belt. Because you said don't have someone turn the key and watch for the belt to spend but I'm trying to think of what else are we supposed to do if the belts going to spend no matter what then how do we know if something is wrong? So I'm wondering do you mean pay attention to each pulley and make sure each pulley is spinning

    • @probonomechanic
      @probonomechanic  Před měsícem +1

      I'll give you an exemple. If the alternator is bad, it can still turn. But if you remove the belt, and you turn it with your hand. You can feel that there is a resistance and it will be harder to spin.
      In good condition, it should be easy to spin the alternator. Nearly no resistance at all.
      It is the same with the other pulleys and tightner. If you can't spin it easy with your hand, it mean it is seizing up.
      Does it help?

      @@probonomechanicoh ok so the stiff pulley is keeping the full serpentine belt system from turning over fast enough to start? It's like the engine is trying to spin but the stiff pulley is holding it back, therefore it's not enough to turn over and start? I think I understand now. Especially with these smaller engines and batteries usually on bigger engine with stronger batteries it can just crank right over and shred the belt on the stiff pulley but these engine are small with smaller battery so a stiff pulley can keep the crank from spinning enough to get it started? I'm going to take the belt off and check the pulleys.

      Before jumping to compression. I have a few questions.
      It was working fine before you parked it?
      If so, did you check the battery. If there was a low temperature and your battery was weak it could have froze and damage the cell. Sometimes a battery will bulge (the sides walls of the battery will be round). Check that out first. It could be just a low juice or damage battery.

    • @charlescomeauxjr9037
      @charlescomeauxjr9037 Před 6 měsíci

      @@probonomechanic yeah it was fine then we got a lot of snow in Orchard Park. I had surgery so I waited for the snow to melt. Yesterday I got in and turned the key. The car was totally dead. Nothing happened. I tried starting it today, and it will turn over and right as it catches it starts the process over. Just a couple of things you had said in the video sounded similar. Is it weird that yesterday no turn over, no noise even. 15-20 hours later and it goes through the process.
      Thanks again. I am going to check the battery right now. I checked it visually today, but I didn't study it. One thing is no sign of corrosion.

    • @probonomechanic
      @probonomechanic  Před 6 měsíci

      Sounds a lot like a battery.
      What happenned in cold temperature the cold start amp isn't pushing enough for it to start (usually just an old battery).
      With warmer temperature the battery regain a bit of juice and it will get enough cold start to turn the starter.
      I believe if you get a boost it should start, but you will need to drive a bit to recharge it. My worry is that if the battery is really old, it will start and even if the alternator push enough power to recharge it the battery won't hold its power and next time it won't start again.
      Best bet, get someone to give you a boost. And change the battery when you can.

      I have been struggling to stop smoking for a long period of time. After 17 years I was able to stop about a year and half now. Pretty happy I was able to do it.
      It wasn't hard, it was tedious. I found that finding new habit to prevent older pattern helped a lot. Like carrying a water bottle, a coffee, or tea in my hand helped to prevent the habit of wanting to hold something in my finger.
      I keeped a box of toothpick beside my working chair so I would use them instead of going to my older pattern.
      Like I said tedious since you need to create new behaviour and pattern. It makes anything feels like unsatifying when you are not smoking.
