    Would you mind helping me, mine 2003 corolla 1.6 won't turn on but it does crank and trying to spin. Before it my wife was driving it on highway and it just turned off. What could be cause of that?

      Sorry for the delay! Did you do a OBD2 scan or read of the codes? Many thing can prevent it from starting. Crank position sensor, seized/bad alternator, fuel pump, etc. The codes may help us to figure it out faster compare to going component by component.

    If u have the serv tom light and tour key fob stops working. Take out your bcm and clean it thoroughly, get all the white gunk off of it and use 91% alcohol and a toothbrush with some paper towels and take pieces of sandpaper and clean every single connector, scrath up both sodes of all the big flat ones inside the ports where the connectors attach to the board (the big black squares) You can put a drop of dialectric grease on each one before you reconnect it. I tried every fox and this is what finally fixed it. Also if your 4wheel bar goes out, it will trio the bcm also. Make sure its plugged in. Very often people forget to reconnect it after a stero install. Its about 50% of hummers we fix, that have this issue.

      I have a Cosco battery: Group size 24DC, Cold crank at -17 degree 550 and cold crank at 0 degree is 685. The item number is 207200. I don't have the battery holder in my H3, so I'm not sure if it fits within the original battry box.

    Could use some help-- mine drives in his full-time 4wd all the time. If I try to switch it to either high or low lock, each button behaves the same way. They blink for probably like 10 seconds and then go off. The full-time four-wheel drive never stops blinking. Extra info -- I do hear something coming from sounds like under the floor in the rear seat area. So I'm guessing the transfer motor is getting power, But maybe not catching? Or is it that plastic fork? Thoughts?

      @@reedron seems like the control module is working. So either the motor is turning but maybe doesn't get enough juice to move properly or something is preventing it to get in gear. If the fork was broken clean off, you would see the bottons switching correctly, per example 4x4 low, but you would stay stuck in full 4x4 within the transfer case. Best bet would be to unscrew it and try to see how it behave when you click the bottons on the module. It would show if it is the transfer motor that is behaving wrong or if it works well you need to drop your transfer case and check in it to see what ia going on. First let's pop that small motor, it's a cheap diagnosis. Do you have someone who can help you?

    I hope you reply My 07 H3 cuts off when approaching a red light or stop sign. It’s stalls bad when I’m not giving it gas. Any idea on what’s wrong with it

      I'll ask a few questions to help me try to figure what could be the problem. How was the idle when driving? Did it feel as if the engine was strugling to move? Did you do any OBD2 scan to get a codes? (To scan you can use a 10$ scanner to get the codes). Do you have a sunroof/moonroof on your H3. There are a few things I can say to test which doesnt cost anything. 1: check oil level in engine, if low the engine can land in limp mode. 2: remove the throttle body and air box. Check the throttle body. If it is blacken and full of residue it will need to be clean. 3: if you check the intake air warmer box. There is a short hose that connects on the intake manifold. That hose can crack or become loose. It will make the idle barely impossible to run. 4: if you have a sunroof, is there water building up in your sunroof? You can open the sunroof to check. The side pillar plastic cover can be remove to check if water is dripping due to the build up of water. If the carpet is wet, it can be another sign of water build up. It cause humidity in the ecm connection. Sometimes just cleaning the sunroof drains to prevent future problems and disconnect the ecm to let the connectors dry it could hopefully fix it. I'll give two links below for the small hose and how to reach the throttle body. Finally, last question. Did anyone work on your H3. Repairs, parts replacement, maintenance. Anything. A loose battery terminal (connection) can do that.

      @@trevino9136 there could be a few things. I always ask to see if there are any codes that pop on the OBD2 scan. Beside that the injector fuse or it could be the anti-theft systems that is still on.

      @@trevino9136 if the line is already prime it will not make a sound. If you tried to start ot often you may need to clean the spark plug if they are full of unburnt gas. Cleaning the spark plug will shownif you got gas in the cylinder and help to unflood the engine

      If you put an 5efa engine, did you try to do a quick OBD1 scan for codes? An OBD2 scanner could work depending on the year of the wiring harness and year of the ecm. Anything under 1996 is the OBD1 connector. 1996 engines and earlier (1996-2024) os OBD2. Try with a scan first and check the codes that pops. This could help to narrow the possible problems here.

    Thank you so much for posting this! I checked everything on my sisters 2005 Corolla and it all checked out fine. Turned out she was using a spare key that couldnt disable the security system. Being more of an old school mechanic this never crossed my mind. Boy did I feel foolish after realizing what the issue was and finding the original key.

      @@DOSdaze I can confirm that you are not a fool. My H3 give me constant problems where I need to leave my key in the ignition for 20 seconds before it reconize it. And now cars use your cellphone as a proximity key.

      @@probonomechanic no got me stumped good I changed the relay the starter and nothing I took out the ignition starter switch cleaned it greased it and it started up first turn lasted about a week so swapped that out and nothing at all it bump starts but I have to keep giving it gas to keep it running otherwise it wants to idle at 400rpm and stall

    My 2010 will only start by bump starting and only stays running if I keep the gas flowing new starter relay new starter new ignition starter switch I turn the key I hear the relay I hear the fuel pump the starter won’t turn I’m stumped

    Can you explain the whole deal about the belt spinning again? Do you mean we need to look at all the pulleys and make sure they're all turning with the belt. Because you said don't have someone turn the key and watch for the belt to spend but I'm trying to think of what else are we supposed to do if the belts going to spend no matter what then how do we know if something is wrong? So I'm wondering do you mean pay attention to each pulley and make sure each pulley is spinning

      I'll give you an exemple. If the alternator is bad, it can still turn. But if you remove the belt, and you turn it with your hand. You can feel that there is a resistance and it will be harder to spin. In good condition, it should be easy to spin the alternator. Nearly no resistance at all. It is the same with the other pulleys and tightner. If you can't spin it easy with your hand, it mean it is seizing up. Does it help?

      ​@@probonomechanicoh ok so the stiff pulley is keeping the full serpentine belt system from turning over fast enough to start? It's like the engine is trying to spin but the stiff pulley is holding it back, therefore it's not enough to turn over and start? I think I understand now. Especially with these smaller engines and batteries usually on bigger engine with stronger batteries it can just crank right over and shred the belt on the stiff pulley but these engine are small with smaller battery so a stiff pulley can keep the crank from spinning enough to get it started? I'm going to take the belt off and check the pulleys.

      What he means is you remove the belt and check the pulleys without the belt attached to see if the pullys are seized

    I tried every way you described on my 2010 Corolla, (and many others) but no success. Even a tool that grab on to many sides of the ring would not work when I used a 30' breaker bar. Then I tried an impact wrench with the same tool and it came loose immediately!

    I used the exact same method to get mine off, except I used a large rubber mallet instead of a metal one. I beat on it for about ten minutes and it broke free. I didn't even damage the tabs at all! it did fight me most of the way, not an easy task. The short prybar was just the right tool, I've had mine for at least 30 years and it's a must have for my tool box. Thanks for this video, it helped make my job easier!

    i have an h3 2007 that is stuck on 4hi lock, if i try to change it, bottons work, will blink but truck stays in neutral, it wont move, have to put it on 4hi lock and put it on park, it makes a noice as its scraping metal and thats the only way truck will drive, any ideas what can it be?

      Verify the alternator first. If you remove the belt. You should be able to turn it by hand easily. If not, it is the alternator that new to be rebuilt or change

      No, no, there are plenty of videos that are shorter on the subject on youtube. My video is general informations with the reality on what work and I what I do for these type of lock rings. I still suggest watching my video since other videos could make you believe that you are doing something wrong or at a minimum not buy a 100$ tool when a 10$ tool or plank of wood could do the job. All in all, feel free to ask question if you hit a road block.

      Fuel gauge is not working? The replacement fuel pump have a new sending unit and it should fix it.

    Hey my man… Excellent video! My car would not start and I did not have any money to get it fixed! It turned out that I was using a copy of the original key which was preventing the alarm system from turning off. I never would’ve figured that out if I hadn’t watched your video.       To reinstall just make sure to slide the hoses from the bottom and then attach the top part first. It will keep everything in place while you instal the bottom
