The keyboard sucks the sound or something?
Hate to be a smartass, but the decibel system is logarithmic, which means negative numbers still means positive sound intensity.
Glasses made the remark that “you’re tapping it as light as possible” but I feel that’s part of the experience, similar to how switch and click was slamming her keyboard
She was doing it like a normal typing test, it only looked like it was slamming because of the one screw making it move a lot

to be fair, it’s easier to make keyboards louder than quieter
Yeah as for 9/10 year old me deciding to get a redragon K552-RGB with blues as my first ever keyboard in early 2018... Still using it stock to this day

I do love the cinematic video from switch and click, but im pretty sure it was much harder to make the keyboard silent versus loud lol. I give you you the point overall since it wasn't about making best presentation.
I know it could've been redundant, but adding o-rings to your keycaps might've helped prevent any keycap noise/clack

I'm really surprised you didn't put in some rubber O-ring dampeners on the underside of the keys, they aught to reduces sound if you bottom out.
There was definitely a lot of extra attachments he could have added but it would have resulted in the project being twice the amount of effort and work

Your voice is very relaxing through the video. I layered some tapping and I got a nice video + asmr, GG.
For anyone who doesn't do audio editing, -40DB is SUPER quiet. Like it wouldn't be picked up at all in one of my recordings because of the noise gate I use.
but -40dB makes no sense in the real world. Negative only makes sense in the digital audio world and is only really related more to your input gain. In the real world, dB can only be positive.
@@ruadeil_zabelin decibels can definetly be negative in the real world. it's a logarithmic scale, not a linear one. The quietest room on earth is almost at -10 dB

I've searched for the quietest possible keyboard, and ended up building a mechanical that is far more silent than any membrane I've tried.

I can see the criticisms against the bobagums, but I actually really like Gazzew’s U4 silent tactile switches, really great for taking notes during a work call with an open mic!! Was a great collab and fun video to watch for sure!
About to put Gazzew U4 silent tactiles in a prebuilt! Did you lube yours?
@@norajiyu Hey that’s great! I actually have mine in a very lightly modded keychron K2 75% board. I didn’t lube them, but I did just acquire some 205g0. I may experiment with lubing at some point, but honestly I’m really happy with the switches in stock form. Gazzew does have a recommended method for lubing his switches that you may consider googling, though I think experimenting on your own firsthand with different methods is probably your best bet if you decide to go that route.
@@ImOnMy116 Great to hear they sound good without modding, I've had a look at the recommended method, but I'm scared to damage the housings since I've read the plastic is quite soft

I feel like having as much contact as possible to minimize vibration would've been one of the goals.
Soldering wouldn't do anything, switch films would have helped minimally but I honestly hate applying them

That wasn't even that quiet compared to this. This has way more foam, is intentionally over lubed and is gasket mounted whichh makes it a lot more muted naturally.
@@ephraimsb2277 i dunno man, even without all the stuff you mention, Brian's board just work. On max volumn, compare to hippio's build, Brian's board is more quieter, I can definetly hear the mushy bottom out sound.

I've always pondered DIYing regular switches into silent switches. If one could add rubber, foam, or some kind of soft epoxy to the stem, a normal switch could be made silent. And different thicknesses of material could be used to change the bottom out and even the pre-travel distance.
if you want to try something like that id recommend trying out liquid latex
What about a dab of hot glue? Firm but still slightly tough, like rubber. Might try that on some browns tbh.
@@fitchyyboi I was actually thinking of hot glue. I'd have to find a way to make sure I use the exact same amount of glue on each switch. Maybe I could use some kind of mold to make glue balls of the same size.
@@CaveyMoth you may really want to look into liquid latex mate. for the amout you want it is very cheap and easy to apply with a brush. think of the stuff that is used to glue perfume samples to magazines

The quiet board certainly achieved its goal. However, as lover of loud boards, I prefer Betty’s creation. Silent switches are a crime against nature.

hate my keyboard when too quiet, I need that feedback not only the tactile bump but the sound as well, i mean is ASMR so sweet but sometimes you like it to be rough and with a good sound feedback to really feel each key being actually pressed with force and not always sweet smooth as butter
