  • This Maker Gray tutorial shows how I made a wooden sleeve with a cupholder for my couch. This was a super easy project and a big upgrade, making it much more convenient to set down a drink while watching tv or reading. I especially love that it can be moved around to either side of the couch.

I love making these! Since they're something that gets touched a lot, I always find myself spending way too much time on the finishing process. Always a crowd pleaser!

Those edges are sharp 90 degree corners...a little sanding to break the edge would probably be a good idea and pine sands super easy.
I am planning to make one of these and I am going to use a 1/4" router to get really rounded edges everwhere.

Like the pocket hole screws idea. Looks way better & neater than exposed screws. Thanks!

Thank you SO much for this tutorial. I’ve been searching to buy something to add cup holders to our couch but everything I find is so tacky looking. I made these instead and not only are they beautiful, they’re nice and sturdy too. I did mine a white wash on mine.
