Kinsong s18: Molicel p42a Special Edition: Is it worth it? Yes.

  • I got the EWheels special Edition Kingsong S18 with the Molicel batteries. Reduced range at the trade of 30 more sustained amp delivery. What happens is a torque increase for that added push to get over roots, rocks, curbs and other things in your path. The s18 is a fantastic EUC for passing pickup trucks slowing to a crawl to go over a speed bump.
    The downside is the range. If you push the heck out of the Molicel you barely get 17 miles before hitting the 30% mark where it annoyingly starts throttling down your speed. by 19% battery I was just over 20 miles range. For trails and offroad you'll get much better range because you're speeds are 15-20 on average and lots of breaking to regen some battery.
    The Molicel p42a Edition Kingsong s18 is the best version for trail riding and taking it to adventure.
    The standard Kingsong s18 with the LG batteries is ideal for urban travel and commuting to work.
    Once the s22 arrives (can't wait) we'll have a beast of a machine that is great on and offroad and has the perfect speed and range to push hard. A 45 mph top speed makes for an ideal 30mph cruising speed with enough extra to get out of bad spots.

    Thanks for all the EUC videos! I got my first EUC, an S18, about a month ago from Ewheels. They offered the new special version but after watching all the videos with battery fires I didn't want to be one of the first on this new battery. Might have been a mistake. Oh well. I'm loving this thing! Only rode 7 times so far due to weather and work but the last 3 days had lots of riding. I'm 46 and I guess I'm using muscles that aren't use to it and I am soooooo sore today. Lol. Again, enjoying your videos. Glad the new S18 is working for ya and glad that ewheels gave such great customer support.

      I rode a guy who had the upgrade battery... He ended up walking it home 😅

      He needs to monitor battery better. I stress tested the normal version last night and got 5-6 more miles of range under heavy load. But the torque les less and a hill I am very familiar with I came close to a cutout going up it. Molicel trades a few miles for more performance.

    I might get a 16x or a s18, but dang that s18 looks huge

    Initially I was glad to find this video, finally somebody who experienced both S18 wheels, the normal and the mollycell one. I was expecting he could point out the difference between those wheels. What a disappointment, he only rambled on about his allergies and how he payed with bitcoins for his purchase and other personal stuff. What a disappointment, a missed opportunity.

      Tl;dr. I prefer molicel. The LG EUC cut out going up hill and motor sounds strained all the time. It may give 5-7 more miles (to 30% test) when pushed hard but i’ll trade extra miles for a safer ride that can handle hills.

    So you didn't feel any speed limiting or voltage sag until the 30% limit? Sounds nice 👍

    • @Deverydoo
      @Deverydoo  Před 2 lety +1

      Around 40% it does get squishy. I feel Kingsong needs to really tune the Moli Firmware better. Despite the different version , It’s still LG tuning and really limits the true potential of the wheel.

    Can you show us the Clark pads and how and where they are attached to the wheel? I have one and I made my own pads because it's so not conducive to having pads on it.because of the limited surface area.

      great Idea. I'm in the process of remaking this video with less rambling, more on topic.
      The clark pads are possibly the best for this unique shaped EUC. But I've had to retape them 20 times because the s18 material simply rejects all adhesives. But I won't ride bare without pads.

    Will the Molicel version lighter than it's regular one?

    Replacement suspension (coil over shock) is $50, not $500

    • @Deverydoo
      @Deverydoo  Před 2 lety

      The Fox Float DPX2 Factory Rear Shock is $539 on Amazon. At the time of this video it was one of the only options I knew of and was not going to spend 1/4 the price of a new EUC on suspension. If I do upgrade the s18 a coilover solution is the direction to go. Air shocks are just a pain for the type of abuse these vehicles handle.

    Can you get a hyper charger for the Molicel

    • @Deverydoo
      @Deverydoo  Před 2 lety

      I don't see it being a problem. I wouldn't use it for every charge. The molicel do seem to be "sensitive".

      Get the Molicel, lose 12 miles good range.has nice even output through charge range, and a little extra oomph up hills.
      Get standard if you want more range and don't need stable voltage output because you don't ride near hills.
