    awesome day! 2 of my favorites slabraps and hairjigs. I discovered the Slab Rap a few years ago and they have become my go to for crappies walleyes and smallies summer or hard water. Thanks for the video!

      I'm just getting started on the Slab Rap but I can already see it's potential.

    I always thought the downstream sides of wingdams were underrated. We caught tons of walleyes anchored just below the 30th Avenue & Anchorage wingdams(pool 14) back in the day.
    I'd say most of this fish are still in a state of shock after the crazy weather this week. I did get some 6 to 8.3 pound cats this afternoon on cheese.

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  Před 4 měsíci

      I do most of my wingdam fishing on the upstream side but there are certain dams that setup a nice seam and ledge on the downstream side.

    I'd say you found the school yard. I had a great day last Sunday catching some nice crappie. Both blacks and whites this time. The biggest was a nice 12" black. I still haven't got out on the river to chase the walleye. The water temp is 45 right now here. I'm guessing they should be spawning any time.

      I may go chase some crappie also. Backwaters have opened up now so there are plenty of opportunities.

    May i ask, what's your most commen water depth you play in on the Mississippi River for any style fish, an what's your favorite fish too chase out there 👍👍

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Water depths range a lot depending on the species and the time of year. In the spring as water temps start to rise all species of fish tend towards shallow water because it's the first to warm up. Walleyes will be in less than 10 feet of water once water temperatures rise into the upper 30's and 40s as will most other species of fish. Spring walleye are probably my favorite then I'll transition into smallmouth, largemouth and pike. I also enjoy fishing for catfish.

    You should teach the art of reading a fishes mind to know how hungry they are.

    I'd love to see the actual technique of how to work the bait

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  Před 4 měsíci

      I’m casting the bait out and watching the line to go limp which indicates it has hit the bottom. I then reel up or lift the rod slightly to ease the bait off the bottom. Without moving the rod again I’ll watch the line to go limp. I repeat this all the way back to the boat. When a fish hits I’ll see the line jump or feel the bite in the rod. Sometimes there is just weight on the line the next time I go to lift the bait. I’m essentially lifting and letting the bait fall to the bottom waiting for a fish to hit on the fall.

    I’ve been trying so hard to catch fish at the dresbach damn any tips?

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  Před 4 měsíci

      The simplest way to catch walleye and sauger is to do slow drifts using a jigging rap with a minnow head on the lower hook. Start in 25 fow and work your way down stream. Try different drift paths some closer to the Wisconsin shore some further out. There are wingdams along the Wisconsin shore so be mindful of those. During low light pitch jigs on the flats upstream of the wingdams.

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  Před 4 měsíci

      Keep the jigging rap about a foot off the bottom with some light jigging movements. Sometimes a longer quick lift can trigger a bite also. Other days just holding it steady will get bit.
