I think about the history of the number at Old Trafford, and then I think of Owen and laugh. Then I think of Depay and cringe. I think of Di Maria and lament what could have been. Then I think of Sanchez and I want to throw up.

@@adamsmith3838 5 goals in less 30 games over 3 years. He was a panic buy. I also liked it when Fellaini scored for us. But having that guy in the team made them play bad. Piss poor strategy of "kicking it up front" and a liability for a guy who elbowed people in the face and pulled their hair. What's spoiled about that? The number 7 in the team deserves a worthy name to put on its back. Teves also helped out the team with some important goals, then acted a wanker when ditching the Reds for Manc. Should I be groveling for him as well?

I remember when Sheringham joined ManUtd just after Cantona left it seemed very obvious that Beckham would change from number 10 to 7 and Sheringham would have 10 both normal numbers for their positions and both were already regularly wearing those numbers for England. But I didn't know Keane was offered 7 then, probably because some relate Keane to BrianRobson.
You left out 1 of my favourite number 7s from when I was a kid - Steve Coppell.
Then Bryan Robson joined and took over as my favourite, Then Eric Cantona joined and took over 😆
It's difficult to choose between them but my top 3 United number 7s of my lifetime would be 1) Cantona. 2) Bryan Robson. 3) Steve Coppell.

i agree he was desperate, he was always too keen to impress and show his quality which backfired, he always did too much whether it was taking on players or shooting too much, would have been great if he went past his man or scored but usually just squandered possession

Jurc Kastelc Griezmann will almost definately join United this summer. Atletico Madrid have been heavily linked with Lacazette from OL and I really don't think they will keep 4 first team material strikers. They will have to sell one and the obvious choice is Griezmann since Lacazette is not going to be cheap either. We'll have to wait and see what happens :)

I've said for a few years now that ManUtd's number 10 is more iconic than number 7 now. There's been too many flops or not very good players wear 7 at ManUtd in the last decade (not to mention even Cristiano was not that good in his first 3 years at ManUtd).
Players who've been number 10 for ManUtd include Law, Hughes, Beckham (his most famous goal vs Wimbledon as number 10), Sheringham, v.Nistelrooy, Rooney, Ibrahimovich & Rashford.
No flops at all.
people tend to forget about, Andrei Kanchelskis wearing it, also Clayton Blackmore, Mike Duxbury, Jesper Olsen and Steve Coppell who was a legend number 7

LucaEnzo he acted as a lone striker, who could do anything by himself. He had pace, he could hold up the ball, take long shots etc. Previously, pretty much everyone played 2 players up front
