Last season was the fourth time in six campaigns since Sir Alex Ferguson left the managerâs post that Manchester United finished outside of the Premier League top four. Without Champions League football, itâs arguably time they operated more sustainably and efficiently in the transfer market. Swapping big-name signings for a subtler, more analytical approach, could be the way forwards. And, by using data to guide us in identifying players that could strengthen key areas in Unitedâs squad, thatâs exactly the approach weâve taken.

Better scouting than all 50+ scouters at Man UtD
Have some respect for those scouts ffs
Like you know
ABSOLUTELY
Life Recordings looks like we just found one looking for his next report đ
sachin suna No, I think the Man Utd scouts are actually good. I mean, when youâre interested in every single players, there will be at least one good one.
Dear Tifo,
Can you please send your CV to man united? We need you as our director of football
Sincerely,
Man united fans
These players were hardly improvements on what you already have.
@David Kilamon. Great minds think alike
@@skypekai yeah if United bought all these players it's maybe sub 100 mil it's nothing
SEND YOUR CV TO MANU ASAP
@@usejasiri I do get it, these players are not good enough for Man United. If this video was meant to be just "you can get the same underwhelming performances out of players who are cheaper" then yeah. Otherwise there is nothing sensible about them if they actually don't want to battle for 6th every season.
The most sensible transfer united can make is to replace Ed Woodward
Ed Woodward is a spectacular CEO from financial perspective, having him handle the footballing side tho, is akin to asking Lewis Hamilton to win Wimbledon.
Not really. Getting a football director would be smarter choice. While I agree that Woodward is an idiot when it comes to football, I had to say that he's very smart financially. Getting a director of football would make our situation better since we'd have Woodward out of the football part.
I'd like to replace the Glazers first.
@@MonkeBrain07 murtough
@@antonyprajin895 Exactly. A smart move by United and I believe we have to give some credits to him for how fast we signed Sancho.
I mean, the flaw with the CB analysis is the comparison to Smalling - United don't need a marginally better version of Smalling, they need a top class all-round defender to pair with Lindelof.
Because lindelof is world class according to you?

Sensible transfers : also known as "Transfers Manchester United will never do in this season"
Facts, don't even know what the hell our scouts are paid for.
Unfortunately you're correct
Sachindra Bhattacharya sensible transfers and Ed Woodward in the same sentence is the biggest contradiction that youâll ever see tell me a bigger one Iâll wait
How a person can call these transfers sensible is beyond me.
@@aryantandon4011 Completely agree mate, None of these players are sensible at all.
Interesting video! Especially the CDM position. The most important area United need to improve but probably won't. Also the great thing about all these players is it's proper scouting of upcoming players. Something United don't do
Reading this 6 months later really hurts my heart because itâs so true
Holy shit is that u alex

Our scouts won't even know who these guys are. Their idea of scouting is reading the back of the Daily Express.
Jordan Derbyshire Or Wikipediaâs See Also section
How can you be so deluded
Just replace Woodward. Fixed.
Boluwarin Boluwarin my dead nan could negotiate better than Woodward
Woodward out, Gazidis in
The last time you guys said replace Mourinho. Look where it took y'all.
Vandit Panvelkar So youâre saying that Woodward is a good dealer? He spent big cash on Pogba, an attacking player, and forced a defensive minded coach to use Smalling and sacked him because he didnât want to sell a player they wasted by allowing him to act like a superstar because theyâll lose shirt profit. Look where it took his club.
Man wonât ever get replaced not sure if you care but research his background, heâs basically half Glazer himself
The people who worked on this video seem more intelligent & professional then the people working at Manchester United that deal with transfers
If I was Man Utd owner or manger first thing I am going to hire these people...
akshay kumar I would hire Alex Stewart as my director of football!
Not đŻ% true. It is easy to show what was wrong when mistake happened. But much harder to predict what is the best before the decision is made.
How do you know?
@@fadil4049 stfu why r u using an emoji instead of a number.
For everyone raving about tifo replacing uniteds scouts, this is not scouting, this is a statistical comparison identifying some lesser known players who potentially could be an astute signing for them. Simply using these statistics alone is not enough to determine that they'd fit what united need.
To be clear, I really enjoy this series and this is a great video but people shouldn't rally behind these suggested transfers based on statistics alone. Scouting is much more in depth than this
Yes. In order for a new signing to succeed, he has to feel comfortable at his new club, possibly in a new city and new country. He should know or try to learn the language and be able to communicate with his teammates and coaches. He has to fit into the team and have good chemistry with his new teammates. If these things do not apply, then a highly talented player that fits in statistically may still be an unsuccessful signing.
Also, the statistical analysis wasn't even that elaborate. It focused on three of four broad categories that show little about how a player actually plays. Also, lots of the players mentioned played for different clubs with different styles against different opposition in different leagues. Those variables were briefly mentioned at times, but certainly not completely controlled for in all cases. Keep in mind that the analysis of each player was presented in about a minute, meaning it was necessarily very superficial.
This channel is great and very interesting viewing, but the comments are full of Football manager wannabe expert types. I've no problem with people's interests or their passion for the game but more often than not people will argue over things they know nothing about other than a video game.
Although Ill agree but the amount of money these players are bought for makes me think giving some calculators move a punt
Dont mind them, they are stupid

If only United's recruitment team were as sensible as you lot.
If only ed Woodward wasn't there
Vishal Chatterjee no no no. United want a world class player who has proven themselves on many levels. Then, after paying 40 million over his worth, they will somehow find a way to make them sluggish and un confident on the ball, causing a drop in form and eventually the sale of the same player 3 years later. Of course, they will ask for the same price they bought him as despite his lack of form, and will eventually cripple and either sell him for half of the asking price or loan him out to another side.
@@lucasrhys0363 Haha though I would want him to leave. His first touch takes the ball out of Old Trafford.

I like how you explained your new series in like 10 seconds, you said what the series was gonna be about, no promos or long explanations, straight to the point as the video begins, Really good youtuber đđ»
I appreciate your hard work but Man United is a big club and he consider a lot of factors not just stats. For instance 1-Language 2-Premier league experience 3- Personality and it's really important 4- Injury history 5- Number of matches played and international experience ..and so on.
The point is .. there is a lot of prospects and young talents in the world and you could find a lot in the academy too but it's not just stats.
Thanks for your appreciation. We agree - that's why we outline at the beginning that aren't considering those other factors that clubs like Manchester United do. This isn't necessarily what we'd suggest Manchester United actually do, it's just what the stats and analyses show.
How do I send this to Woodward??
you could have scouted Messi and slide it into his underwear he'll still ignore you since signing young talents don't help in his quarterly earnings to please his yank ass masters
You really want Pena, EChoue x2 and a Toulouse midfielder this summer? Bet you'd be livid....

@@DayzAhat mate, do you think Ruben Pena is the kind of player United needs, despite him being on his prime? United needs top class fullbacks or players who are young but full of potential. You cannot recommend Ruben Pena, who has not potential anymore whatsoever to United. Stop it
Andre ADG I don't care about your novel. I was correcting your use of the word prime. Every else you said in your long paragraph was assumptions that I didn't make.
@@DayzAhat you didn't correct jack shit. The recomendation from tifo football was shit. And that is it
I understand the intention of these videos and appreciate the effort, however, it's comparing stats of players playing in lower quality leagues against players currently playing in a very difficult competitive league ie. Prem League vs. Ligue 1.
Perhaps but if they can replicate even half the stats its better than what current man utd players are putting up
That is true but many great players that have played in the prem did not start in the prem they came from other leagues.
@@ipodtouch470 More fail to live up to the hype than make it though which makes it a valid factor. Even coming from say La Liga due to the style differences there is always a big chance they won't fulfil their potential in England
Simon Wakefield lol what? More fail than make it? The teams in the PL who does the best are the ones with mostly foreign players, and the league is considered the most competitive in the world, so foreign players ânot living up to the hypeâ doesnt make any sense whatsoever.
B Krause Riyad Mahrez. Ngolo Kante. Both weren't even playing in top division a few years ago. That's ur argument gone right there.
Love your guys content keeps on getting better and better đ„đđŒ
I really appreciate your sensible transfers. You can't just rely on big names to build a good team and be succesful in football. Your videos are objective, based on facts and have a high quality. Keep it up!
I may have missed it but did you guys consider the leagues these players are in? The opposition they are up against may be making them look better than they would be in the prem on paper... Just a thought
Perhaps, but they do a good job of focusing on specific traits that are vital to the way at OGS wants to play. And, unfortunately, United don't have first pick of a lot of the top options at these positions, especially if they are trying to be sensible long-term.
@@Messiman14 no doubt, its a good video. The analysis is great. Aside from perhaps not considering this key factor about opposition. If I was playing against poor opposition my stats would be really great. Context is key and that's why Harry Maguires price tag is so inflated.

Ezra Leslie yeah thatâs what United fans have been saying for 6 years now. With all the âbig namesâ and shirt sellers *yawn*đ
The players in this video can be a base for the coming years as obviously no top caliber player is gonna sign for ManUtd this summer. Why not go for Rabiot. Heâs basically gonna come for freeđ€·đżââïž
With obvious reasons. His attitude firsty, man united really need people to steep up and actually start playing for their badge. Currently tons of man u players are just in it for the money, which sure sounds okay in some ears. But United are built on incredible loyalty with players giving 110% and knowing what it means to put on that beautiful red shirt. Not only in it for the money. Seeing what happened at PSG Rabiot was a pure snake and wanting to leave for a bigger salary, which really isnt noble. With a free transfer comes a bigger salary... u probably know. Also a worry for United that wants to get their wages cut down. A worry with his attitude can really be a big problem. Signing him on a 5 year deal with 300-350k per week not knowing if he will give us 100% is scary. But sure his a great player but too much problems regarding him, now he just got announced by juve so

FINALLY! A Manchester United transfers video where nobody is talking about signing Garreth Bale, Coutinho, Dybala, Griezmann, etc.
As a Red Devil fan, Iâve always thought that building from the bottom has always resulted better for Manchester than signing big names. This is a very good video. United always counted on names with not a lot of world acclaim, and ended being legends
Youâd still start Lingard? đ

Another great video, really enjoyed this and the Spurs sensible transfers. Please do a Norwich city one. Transfers that would help the team survive on a small budget.
I've always enjoyed your videos. I particularly love how you guys manage to break down football issues into very simple (and very logical) stories. So seeing a video on Sensible Transfers for my favourite football club among my recommendations was very exciting. As an avid fan of the Football Manager game series, these are the exact sort of characteristics I scout for when making signings for my teams. I always go with cold hard data over real world hype. However, I came to the conclusion (and realisation) that real-world football matters (esp. when signing players) are not just based on raw facts or data. That's why Man Utd would never sign an Eboa-Eboa or a Pena or a Grillitsch (with Ed Woodward in charge)... until these players have built up a certain amount of hype. In recent times, the closest to this type of signings were Eric Bailly and David James. Yes, these are the kind of signing I'd be making in a video game, where I am not burdened with the Glazers and co of this world and I can build a very solid team to challenge for the title in a couple of years. But in the real world, these players would end up in a mid-tier team now then leave for the big teams in 2 to 3 years (for massive transfer fees) if and when they realize their potentials.
