Eccelston... so underrated as the Doctor. Because after rewatching his series he was the perfect Doctor for one just out of War.
But Matt Smith is my favourite doctor.
David Tennant is unambiguously the best doctor and if you disagree you're lying to yourself.
Tenent was my fave but my favorite episode was with the 9th dr. He is a great dr!
He was great. Some of the stories were a bit crap, but the series hadn't worked out what it wanted to be yet. If he had stuck around (I do not hold his choice to leave against him) it would have been interesting to see where the show could have gone with him.
@@yuvalsela4482I mean he’s my favourite too but there’s no reason to be THIS dramatic and petty about it 😅
"Things of power"
FUCKING REALLY!
I just realized Will Stanton is played by both Cato from Hunger Games and Bjorn Ironside from Vikings.
the fact that krimson watched gravity falls pleases me!
Blazing Victory i am more amazed by all the people who never saw the show. All 3 of them

@@alexjewett7455 yes like the people who weren’t old enough to see it in 2012
My favorite part of this review was how I kept hearing "The Rider" as "The Writer." And in a story this poorly done, really the only way conflict would happen is because the writer says so.
Lol!
CatComixzStudios i like to think conflict happened in story when the writer got into actual fights about there bein no fights
I hear it too
Merry Christmas Krimson. I hope 2018 sees that Subscription counter of yours jump into the 100k numbers you bloody deserve it.
Also Die Hard is TOTALLY a Christmas Movie
KiddCrowley I'm watching it right now
Spoilers: he didn’t, but is very close to 75,000
I agree with pretty much everything you said about the book. I love it anyway. It's short and easy without being childish, and while the mythological references are handled rather shallowly, the ones I recognize make me feel smart, and the ones I don't are intriguing enough to make me want to look them up.
Yes, diehard IS a christmas movie
Diehard is the best Christmas movie ever.
I wouldn't know I haven't seen it
Krimson, Thank you for the warning. As someone adjusting to migraines and its triggers, I wanted to extend my gratitude. It is appreciated.
No problem, but all thanks should go to Ashton the Editor.
Naming something the Old Ones evokes eldritch horror and cosmic nihilism, not mysteriousness and wisdom. I'm surprised Krimson didn't bring THAT one up at any point in the video.
"Britain's a great country!" Or, indeed, three countries :P
Eh, that's too many to keep track of. ;)
Danielle Clarke 4 actually. Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales. Why does everyone always not count properly?
The United Kingdom is Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales), and Northern Ireland. Britain is three countries.
And this is why we never count how many are in the united kingdom (or Britain or great britain or england or ahhhhgh pick a name!)
@@Eruvadhril too confusing
I really liked this movie as a kid. It wasn’t lost on me how BAD it was, even as a child, but I liked it.
7:07 Oh crap! The spiral curse has now spread to England!
All hail the spiral! The spiral consumes all!
Nice
Better Hope your Dad doesn't try to become one
Uh oh
How convenient that the "oldest book in the world" is written in the Latin alphabet.
hemmingwayfan well, it isn't really convenient. Books are a fairly recent invention
It's Magic, it could just translate to what the read can understand.
I mean what else could they used, Sumerian cuniform?
@@PatheticApathetic aahh, I guess everyone must've imagined all those Greek, Sumerian, Mychanean, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Aramaic, Arabic, Egyptian, proto European, native american texts then. "recent invention" my ass.
Yuval Sela recent in terms of all human history dumbass
I'm an older brother, and I prefer to just sleep on the couch. (The living room is actually BIGGER than my kid brother's room.)
The whole time I was thinking man that girl playing the love interest looks really old to play a young girl but yeah she was 25 when this movie came out sometimes they look young enough to pass for 15 16, she did not.
Edit: and I just got to the point where Krimson says she looks at least 5 years older really need to learn to keep my mouth shut until the end of the video haha.
I love how Tenant has nothing to do with this but you still had to show him for 30 seconds because he's just that brilliant.
So Krimson just wants an excuse to review Die Hard, because fun fact the movie was partly based on a book, and it's really different than the movie.
I'M SO IN.
I know this is an old review, but I felt I should share my opinion on The Seeker, as a big fan of the book.
Now I realize the book isn't any fantasy epic, and comparing it to authors like Tolkien definitely won't do anything good for it. My mom read the whole series out loud to me and my siblings, so my goggles might be slightly rose colored too, but I hope you won't discredit my opinion because of this.
Anyway, what I really remember from the book, and I feel is lacking from the adaptation, is the constant sense of lurking danger from the bleak wintery landscape, and the constant question of who to trust and who not to trust. The movie seemed more to me like watered down Harry Potter, which I felt was a misinterpretation of the book's style and atmosphere.
Exactly!
TDiR is a perfect book for the age range it's intended for. Personally I love it. I read it all in one go pushing through the night because I NEEDED to finish it.
Been binge watching your work and was excited to see you did this...till the review. Your video was good, dont get me wrong, but I was hoping to see you rip into how far they strayed from the book. But guess if you are not a fan of the book, I can see how you'd like the movie better. My biggest issue with the movie was how Will's family treated him. They act like he's nothing while in the book he is very well love, especially by his oldest brother and yougest sister.
While I'll agree that Will learning everything from a book in a day was a little Gary Stu, it was a set up for how he was going to be potrated later in the series as the replacement for Merryweather. And I will have to respectfully disagree about Will being handed all the signs in the book. Not only did he have to find the signs, he had to solve puzzle onto how to collect them. That was what I most wanted to see adapted in the movie.
Edit: I will admit the way the book series read I don't think wasn't meant for adults. I would say that this series is like Tolkien's The Hobbit.
This movie's such a childhood throwback for me, im still watching it every year with my mom haha
Think she bought it when i was 10(?) For Christmas.. So yea was pretty awesome for me haha
You're reviewing The Seeker? As in, "Apocalyptically misguided rendition of The Dark Is Rising sequence" The Seeker?
...May the force be with you.
You called it better... than the books. Instead of bashing it, you thought it to be the lesser of two evils.
_They're coming to get you, Krimson..._
Die hard is a christmas movie it just happens to also be a great action movie also
I loved watching this--definitely one of your best works--because it was so random that I had no idea what to expect in each and every minute.
This movie made me cry...but only because I grew up reading The Dark is Rising series and desperately wanted to see it made a movie. The series is so rich and has real depth, and it's all still there because this terrible movie mined precisely none of it.
13:55
I honestly instantly thought of Iron Maiden
1) Krimson, YOUR editing is way better than the editing of the actual movie.
2) This movie is the most cut and paste patchwork I’ve ever forgotten: Percy Jackson is the last in an ancient race of Obi-Wans and he has to show that he’s the Chosen Weasley sibling, find the Dragon Balls, and stop Nazgul Loki and the Dark Side.
3) Seriously, Christopher Eccleston should stay away from playing villains
4) Riordan is pronounced “REAR-DIN”
5) 26:37 Well, SOMEONE watches My Hero Academia. 😉
1) As the show's current editor, thanks!
2) I'd settle for derivative if it actually had a plot! If you've ever heard about the "and then" Vs "therefore" theory, you'll know what I mean when I say this film is nothing but "and then."
3) There's nothing wrong with Eccleston playing villains, especially with that sonorous baritone voice and northern accent, he just keeps choosing the lamest ones.
4) Krimson and I can't even agree on how to say "rawther" let alone "Rye-ordun"
5) I can't speak for Krimson, but I can certainly say SOMEONE does, and that said someone is quite depressed at how long they'll have to wait for season 3.
The day you eviscerate seventh son I am so there. Those were my favorite books in middle to high school and I was so mad at the movie. They did everything wrong! I thought about becoming a CZcams reviewer for that one movie alone buuuuttt then I realized it would take too much time and I got magic decks to make
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you too.
THANKS you just made me want to rewatch all of new Who for the billionth time
"Just like a real older brother."
Actually... yes. Older siblings tend to do that. They always get the best spot. That's the reason why instead of getting me in the other room, my sister moved to it, and I had been left with her old bed, her old room, and her old closet.
😅
Die hard 1 and 2 are Christmas movies.
Honestly the moment when the wild hunt is summoned and the dark think he’s there to help, only for it to be the opposite, was part of the reason I liked the book, and I was very disappointed it was left out of the climax
I actually liked the book better than the movie and this is after reading the book for the second time. I say this because the book was loosely based around the old tales of winter solstice; of the encroaching darkness of winter verses the light that symbolizes the coming of spring. Like the battle of the Holly King and Oak King where the Oak King is victorious against the Holly King (the Oak King represented Summer and the Holly King represented Winter). Some the elements you brought up during your review, like the movie focusing on Will dealing with being an Old One and his emotions on the subject mixed with how old he is, I kinda liked and can agree with; but what I found weird was how the Wanderer's impact on Merriman in the book was left out during your review. Was it because the Wanderer wasn't referenced in the movie? If so that is a shame because I found his character gave reason for Merriman's strict impression during the book before the Wanderer's true identity was revealed. Either than that I have to say this was the one book I was hoping to see reviewed, but leaving a little sad that it's this book that you have problems with. Overall, it's your opinion and I'm still glad you got a chance to read this book.
I'll be bringing up the Wanderer in a later livestream. There are always elements that I'm not able to include and my bit on him felt like too much of a tangent to really include.
That will be cool to see. I hope I'll be able to see that livestream and have a great holiday!
Merry Christmas, Krimson!
I actually remember watching this movie several years ago...and almost immediately forgetting about it.
It feels like Christmas,
is my all-time favorite Christmas song.
Eccleston in disguise as a doctor makes him look like Fisher Stevens if he played Ben from "Short Circuit" as actually white :P
I remember watching that in the theater with my childhood best friend and us laughing throughout the movie.
Hmm... clips from The Hunter. So can we expect an episode on that at some point?
I was only in 16 years old when I stumbled upon this film. Then when I heard that it was based on a second entry of the series, I decided to check them out. Later on my 17th birthday I got the complete sequence of The Dark is Rising and read all the installments. It was really interesting for me because back when I was twelve I looked up my name on a dictionary and turned out to be a Welsh name, which The Dark Is Rising Sequence uses the mythology from. Pretty cool huh?
Merry Christmas KrimsonRogue!
I know I'm super late, but as an epileptic, huge heaping bouquets of gratitude for the warning my friend. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Merry Christmas Krimson!!
Merry Christmas! :D
Reading these books as a kid I found all of the arbitrary mysteriousness exciting as I was able to speculate and fill in what the crazy shit meant, rather than having it spoon fed and explained to me. Still need to watch this movie but big fan of the books
Gremlins is the best Christmas movie... with the possible exception of "the Hogfather"... which you introduced me to... yesterday
Read this series when I was a kid, never saw/knew there was a movies though.
I grew up on the book and it was ok. I mainly liked it because of the mythology it drew upon and referenced. The books needed alot more fleshing out. The more I think about it the less I remember of the book. No characters or moments stuck out to me at all.Happy Holidays! Rick Riodern is a fantasy master in my book
I love your Book Was Better reviews, keep up the good work and we'll keep watching!! It's such a small silly thing but the Infinity Stones/Gems control certain aspects of the Universe, not reality; reality is just one aspect controlled by a Stone or Gem, depending on whether you're talking about the comics or movies.
Thanks dude, saw the movie as a kid and when i saw there was a book i was excited. And then disappointed when i read it. Also Heck yes Die hard is a christmas movie i watch it with it its a wonderful life every year.
Didn't take you for a fellow riordan fan. Glad to know i'm not the only 20 plusser who enjoys his interpretation on classic myths.
So I got this and Shadow of Mordor awesome day.
Muppet Christmas Carol clips, Nice!
Also the Mark of Athena is an excellent choice.
I'm very good at pausing and I can also say that yes Die Hard is a Christmas movie, there is no real argument against it that holds water.
happy holiday, mate. may you house turn into a biggest library ever known to mankind
Quite possibly the greatest wish ever made. :)
Bigger than the Library of Illusions?!
Fun fact: A seventh son of a seventh son is given the name Doctor. I actually have a seventh son of a seventh son in my family. His name was Doctor Leondis Parham. I actually used his name in a novel I'm writing.
2 thousand subs to 100 000, Krim.
This makes me happy that I'm British and live in the UK.
Hay KrimsonRogue Die hard is a Book call Nothing last forever,
maybe that will be a good review for next Christmas?
Watching Jeor Mormont bring in a Christmas Tree really fucked with my mind for a second
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!

Jeeesus!
I chocked on my drink
Have a good Christmas!
will you ever do a video on Doctor who?
because Human nature is a 2 part story (10th doctor) and a book (7th doctor), both are pretty good.

WRONG! Japan is the best country this world has ever seen.
Merry Nondescript End of the Year Holiday BTW.
Also various mentions about "The Old Ones" and not a single Cthullu Mythos joke? Shame on you Krim.
That's a strange way to say "Japan forced airforce pilots to be suicide bombers and worked it's peasents like slaves since time immemorial, even testing new swords out on random peasents to be certain they could kill with one cut."
Hey, every country has done shitty things, America included. Let's just try to keep it civil please.
TheSlayFer Ch. T. they are the great old ones though
Andrew Carmichael yeah so? They also are the most peaceful country in the world.
TheSlayFer Ch. T. was that before or after America neutered their army? you're just as worst as them wehraboos
man all those spirals are giving me flashbacks to a race.
Whats Lord Commander Morment doing away from the Wall? Or is this Santa in the off season...wait, no, its Christmas, he should be way to busy to deliver trees and fight the forces of evil.
"You ARE the Seeker"
Nah, he is not. Doesn't look anything like Richard
So if you’re reading the Hero’s of Olympus, what do you think of it? My personal favorite was the fourth one.
Heyyy I remember this movie. Acting was good. Talented kid.
How old is the main character supposed to be? He looks like, 10 tops.
You should review Die Hard next Christmas as an adaptation of the Roderick Thorp Novel.
Ok Krimson I love your show to hell and back but I got one question. Do you read H. P. Lovecraft? There are a ton of adaptations and some legit amazing stories. I know he can be a bit divisive but if you need a good Halloween episode.
I totally didn't know what this movie was, and I confused it with The Giver and I was very confused for 11 minutes and then I realized why. Well I've made too much of a commitment...so...
Excuse me, Krimson, first off, I love your videos. You always do an amazing job pointing out themes and ideas that I would have never seen in those pieces of film/literature. Being a writer yourself, would you have any advice to give to a person (like me) who would want to get their writing out there. Thank you so much for reading this comment, keep on doing your videos, and keep on writing!
Well, the free advice I always give everyone is to start with fanfics and use those to improve their writing. Accept concrit and build off of that. As far as getting your writing out there, there are a lot of ways to publicize yourself, like starting a blog or a youtube channel. Plus, using social media.
Okay, I'll try it, thank you so much for the advice!
Eeyyhhhhh! He's alive!! 😂😉
This is probably the only movie I've ever walked out of wanting my money back. Glad I never read the book(s); I can't help but think that the high rating on Goodreads is due more to people having read them as kids and having nostalgia-blinders on.
this is the movie I was trying to remember!
So weird seeing young Bjorn Ironside. I keep waiting for him to start axing Anglo-Saxons at any moment.
my understanding of the series was that it was less about the characters but rather the greater forces at play through them. and while i certainly found it to be... less engaging than the reviews would suggest there was a certain appeal to the sense of ritual and scale.
Happy holidays, Krismon! And great review, as always. Is it wrong to say I didn't know that Christopher Eccleston was in this, depsite being a Doctor Who fan? I am ashamed.
Oooo ooo this year will you review Die Hard for us Uncle Krimson?
And I believe it is pronounced like Gram-eye-er
I remember in grade five or six I tried to read the first book and I just couldn't get into it. I don't remember anything about the content but I do remember feeling really unfulfilled reading it. It's one of the only times I've intentionally not finished a book.
That America bit was enough to gain yourself a new subscriber
Might I suggest a review of The Giver by Lois Lowry? Again, Merry Christmas!
We'll get to The Giver someday. And Merry Christmas to you too!
Wrong it’s Canada and I live in Australia
Actually, most lists say that the best are 3. Canada 2. Japan 1. Switzerland.
Hey, Krimson! Just asking if you could do Stardust (I've noticed it on yourself), it's probably my 2nd favorite fantasy. Thanks! And Merry Christmas!
Yeah, I do need to finally review something by Gaiman. Might as well start with Stardust.
You have no idea how badly I want to do that!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Wait wait wait, you list great fantasy writers and don't mention Terry Brooks? What? I grew up reading his Shannara and Abhorsen novels and they are incredible.
I love The Dark is Rising series, this movie god I hate it
I'd love to see you review "the last Cato" by Matilde Asensi.

"Unless you're an idiot who fails to grasp how subtle and complex a film Die Hard truly is!
I mean to be fair, you have a very high IQ to understand the Christmas spirit..."
There, now you know what it says, viewers. You're welcome.
Also, Die Hard is the best Christmas movie of all time.
Nicely caught.
Thank you.
What about Robert Jordan or Sanderson?
The whole deal with him being powerful because he's the 7th son of a 7th son, reminded me of a plotline from Julie Johnston's "A Very Fine Line."
If I'm not mistaken, the protagonist was the 6th daughter of a 6th daughter. But I could be wrong, it's been years since I last read that book.
4:25 The invisible man in Heroes was a great role for him
It's the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch!!!
I thought that was Alexander Ludwig. I had no idea how much he played in until I started watching Vikings
26:38 I commend your taste in irony,character reintroduction,and music
