4K CAB VIEW: Evening Express Train over the Mountain pass

  • Taking the evening express over the mountain pass from Bergen (Norway). Again we see that the mountain pass is the boarder between two weather systems. It's now August and the light has started to change into a more autumn like brightness because of the cooler temperatures, crisp air and being lower in the sky. My favorite time of the year. Sadly two pigeons did not have the needed velocity to escape the train, and you can see the connection memorial site at Ustaoset right after the tunnel.
    Enjoy!

All my adult life (a long time now) I have dreamed I was travelling. All my dreams involve travelling through places I've never seen before. And now I have discovered your videos, I enjoy watching these landscapes glide by as sleep slowly overtakes me. They have a solemn, measured beauty. Thank you!

This makes me relaxed and kind of envious at the same time
Norwegian trains seem pristine, the weather and landscapes look like what I'd imagine heaven looks like. Not to mention how sparsely populated it is. I could only dream of such a place

This is a beautiful Summer train ride in such a beautiful environment. The Sun works so well with you in this video as it shines from behind you and lights up what is in front of you. Bits and pieces of this run are other-worldly and I just love them … other pieces are just so cozy village, warm field and Summer-friendly. So much good viewing in one video. The run between 2:25:44 to 2:28:05 transported me to a whole, new, alien world. Thank you so much for taking me there!❤❤❤

My first trip abroad was to Norway, aged 11, after my primary school teacher read us the Scandinavian myths, I nagged my ma and pa, and they gladly relented. We stayed in Voss at that time. I’ve always loved Norway and have been back twice since that early visit as a little boy. On my last visit I saw Kraftwerk play in Bergen and then took the morning train to Oslo to see them play the following evening there. That in itself was such a beautiful train journey. Best Wishes to Norway, I too wished I lived in your beautiful country. ❤️

The driver's seat on the locomotive you are driving looks lovely and comfortable, and I suspect is adjustable enough to give you as much leg room as you desire... unlike the pox-ridden cramped driver's seats I had to endure on the British Rail class 150 DMUs that eventually caused me to take early retirement after 40 years service.... Retirement is however the best job I've ever had.... Enough about me.... You always make intersting and scenic videos...

Its so real from the cab that I feel like I'm back on the road. Super footage and I can even feel the cold in some of the scenes. Thanks for this and there are a few routes that I also remember travelling on which I replay now with nostalgia and enjoy the view

RailCowGirl I’m loving it so far, especially the rain and mist in the mountains. Is that a new tunnel being built between Myrdal and Hallingskeid? I’m about 2 hours in and just noticed the construction. Snow tunnel?

I really enjoyed this LONGEST CZcams train video I have ever seen and thanks for sharing. Just wish that there was much more sunshine in the video other than near the end which I especially loved with the gorgeous scenery bathed in sunlight. Not sure why the engineer blasts the horn so much when there are no crossings. GREAT views from the cab, rain or shine, especially with the endless tunnels. Thanks again for sharing.

Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it :) I have other videos with more sunshine than in this one on my channel. Unfortunately I cannot change the weather...
For the horn, look for the yellow diamond shaped signs. The ones with a horizontal line, means level crossing. The ones with a vertical line means station or halt. If the sign has both lines/a cross, it means there is a station/halt and crossing ahead. Hope that was helpful :)

@@RailCowGirl Thanks for your comments and explaining things for me that I was wondering about, especially about the train horns. Much appreciated. Yes, you cannot control the weather but sunshine does add to the beauty of the scenery that surrounds the trains. I have subscribed to your YT page and will enjoy more of your videos. Cheers from New Mexico USA!

What can I say? Another brilliant video. If I may, I'd like to say that seeing the train consist by walking to the locomotive was a brilliant move, and to see inside the cab, more so. To me that makes the video. I have watched many videos filmed in Norway and often wondered how big the train was. To see inside the cab made my day. Hope you can do that more often.
I watched the the video going to Bergan first. Everything covered with snow. Then I watched this one. The two vids are worth seeing.

The original train station at Finds (2:20) was built by my wife's great uncles, the Rogne brothers from Voss.
