The Bergen Line and Flåm Railway is considered one of the most scenic and beautiful railways in the world.

4K CABVIEW: Scenic Train Ride On The Bergen Line With A Twist: Diverted Over The Gjøvik Line!
During the summer the Scenic train ride on the Bergen Line gets diverted over the Gjøvik Line due to major maintenance work on being done on the railway network in and around Oslo. The west corridor is usually closed for weeks at time whilst heavy renewal is being done to make the network more robust and less maintenance demanding in the future.
During this period all trains to and from the Bergen Line and freight trains going to the South Line is being diverted over the Gjøvik Line via ROa between Oslo and Hønefoss. Theg Gjøvik Line is in fact part of the original Bergen Line.

Curious as to why the trip ended short of Oslo. Was it because the crew timed out and someone else took the train to Oslo. Otherwise it made no sense to stop so close to Oslo without going in
Yes, changing Crew at Hønefoss id done due to the operating time permitted. We can operate for a maximum of 5 1/2 hours and this trip is almost on the dot 5 1/2 hours. The guy at Hønefoss operates the train to Oslo, does some duties at the terminal and returns in the evening.

This is one of my favorites, the dusting of snow on everything, the clear cold night reminds me of growing up in the American midwest in the wintertime and Christmas time. It looks like at times like there is moon glow also. Magical stuff when the snow is fresh and clean and night time ads something sort of mysterious. Merry belated Christmas from Arizona in June. It was officially 112 degrees, 45 celsius, here the other day! But it's a dry heat!

The total time of the trip was almost 6 hours due to all the waiting. Usually you can do it in about 3 1/2. lol
@@RailCowGirl I expect you've been asked before but I'm curious. Does your locomotive have a washroom/toilet? Are you solo on these cargo runs or do you have a second train driver with you? Other than stops for passing trains, do you get any breaks?

What is the function of the white concrete (if it's concrete) strips that appear and disappear along the route? Do they hold some sort of utility cables? For instance, at 2:46:30, a strip starts up, with what looks a round access port at the head of it. Oh, snap! Is the red cable on the right side of the track starting at 2:56:30 a clue to the answer?
