Give AA a try Bro. 34 years sober. Only thing that ever worked for me . If you broke your leg you wouldn't go to church to pray that it gets healed. You'd go to a hospital then to church to thank God that someone helped you.
It's a good program with good people. The only thing they want, is for you to get better. Good luck Ill pray for your sobriety. You can do it.

Took me getting pancreintitis. Literally the worst pain I can think of, and IV had several children. If you aren't to that point thank god and look into it. The only relief is curling up in the fetal position. I have to go to the hospital every flare up. 5 to 7 days of no food or water. Getting nutrients through a iv. The only thing that relieves the pain is very hard IV drugs like morphine and fentanol. They make you sleepy, but as soon as you sleep they wear off. So even in the hospital youre cursed with pain. They can't give you enough unless you're in hospice. Please stop before you have to go through that

That is a lot on you . I understand how you feel. My husband & I have 2 adult sons & our oldest will be 36 this month. He’s high functioning autistic and has some behavioral problems still. Mostly hyperactivity. But over time they have gotten a little better. When I was younger (and still do occasionally) feel overwhelmed & anxious. I continue to pray and ask God for patience and strength because it is very challenging. Please know God hears your prayers and keep praying & asking! God has so much faith in you as a mother to take care of your children. My faith in God as always gotten us through tough times. And it will for you too. Life is a school in a way. I truly believe their is a reward when our time is done. God chose you for those two children to love and care for. I will keep you & your children in my prayers too! Dante MAY have meant for his readers to conclude that it was indeed Pope Celestine V who was being punished in the 'vestibule' of Hell, but he never explicitly names him as such. The text reads:
Poscia ch'io v'ebbi alcun riconosciuto, When some there I had recognized, there too
Vidi e conobbi l'ombra di colui The shade of him who made through cowardice
Che fece per vilta il gran rifuto. The great refusal I both saw and knew.
I'm using the Geoffrey Bickersteth translation, by the way.
It is reasonable to conclude that he who had made "the Great Refusal" was someone whom Dante himself had seen and recognized ["Vidi e conobbi"]. But at least one commentator has suggested that the soul being referred to is that of Pontius Pilate, who refused to free the innocent, sinless Jesus Christ as the Jewish authorities were calling for him, as Rome's representative, to punish Christ for supposedly declaring himself to be a king. As this story takes place during the Passion Week of AD 1300, with this moment just after passing through the Gate of Hell -- with its inscription perhaps echoing the multilingual inscription posted above the Cross -- calling to mind the events of AD 34 during Good Friday and following, one can see that Pontius Pilate might very well be considered guilty of the greatest Refusal of all time, when he washed his hands of the whole affair and allowed the supreme injustice to transpire.
However, Dante could never have both SEEN and KNOWN the unnamed sinner unless he had seen a statue or bust of Pilate, recognizing the damned man from such a stone image. This makes it more likely that the sinner -- whoever he was -- was someone that Dante had seen in the flesh prior to the year 1300. Celestine V fits the bill, though it's curious that Dante never names him. One might suppose that the poet ought to have commented on the tragic irony of his papal name, 'Celestine', which means 'Heavenly'. For such a one to end up in Hell is, indeed, tragically ironic.

St Catherine of Siena also was the Saint favored by God who brought the church out of schism, because three Popes we're elected, due to the Papacy moving away from Rome. It was Catherine who identifies the true Pope, and he was not the favorite Pope of anyone. He was stern and not a pleasant nature. I believe that was Pope Gregory XI, and the last French Pope. Dear Doctor,
Being a regular viewer off your videos, I'ld like to comment the point of view which you put forth at the end of this present one.
Concerning pope Clement V's move of the papacy from Rome to Avignon, having read quite a bit on the subject, your judgement struck me as, possibly, somewhat hasty? For example, a book such as L'anneau du pêcheur by french author Jean Raspail, - yes a novel but one backed by a massive knowledge of the Great Western Schism -, offers a number of insights into the affair.
    All respects,
    J. O'Connor

We have to be careful with this though. First it's not scripture or tradition. However, the church says we CAN'T ASSUME WHERE PEOPLE ARE! With the exception of where God makes that clear such as the canonized saints. The church can't even publicly declare where Hitler and other dictators are. Ultimately it doesn't matter.

I'll bet Dante saw a vision of them going down tiara first, in full regalia, and all lined up in all their colors with their red shoes between. 😂😂😂 Then there's the Priest Holes in England where Catholic families hid priests during Henry VIII's reign of terror.

I believe the good and saintly popes went to heaven, the evil and sinfully corrupt popes went to hell. I remember reading Dante’s inferno in late high school and it taught me why me and everybody should have discernment about sin and hell and why we should practice avoiding ending up there. Dante Alighieri is one of my favorite poets of all time.

I remember hearing a story of a person who went to the gates of Hell and there were a few thousand walls and apparently, when they placed their arm against it they felt the pain and suffering. I believe I heard about this as a young child maybe you could shed some light on this story if you have ever heard of it. Thank you

For goodness sake, there are thousands of stories about hell and its sufferings. Why pay attention to them all? Why expect someone else to know or care? What you need to know about hell can be found in Scripture. In the New Testament, the Lord mentioned hell more than anyone in the New Testament. Jesus also confirmed the DOGMA that FEW ARE SAVED. If you avoid sin, pray the ROSARY DAILY, do what good deeds you can, you needn't worry about hell.

Dante's son Jacopo confirmed the "great refusal" was in reference to Celestine's resignation.
Dante condemned Pope Celestine V because Dante and Pope Boniface VIII were on opposite ends of the Guelph & Ghibelline controversy. And Celestine's resignation allowed for Gaetani's election as Pope Boniface.

I'm 63...64 and when I was in my teens as a Catholic. This one passage effected me more than any passages. Other than 1st Corinthians 13. The verse on love. But in Mathew 14:26-31 Peter supposedly waked on water in the presence of Jesus Christ. Remember that guy? 'Oh thee of little faith, why does thy doubt...' Of all the Christians who claim the power of Christ and the Holy Spirit. Why do Christians NOT HAVE THE FAITH to at least walk on water, let alone create miracles of love and need. WHY? I know thy truth on why...
